This hotel actually looks nice on the outside, the inside hallways need to be kept clean. I booked the oceanfront King room from July 6- 8th. I initially asked the young lady at the desk what is the early checkin charge, she advised they do not allow early check-ins, to come back at 3pm. I think Ocean Crest should reconsider this policy, because most of the higher up hotels allow people to check in early if a room of their choice is ready. I have a medical condition and that was the only reason I asked. The elevator is the only scary thing about this hotel. My room was on the 4th floor and was real clean and nice. My only 2 complaints is the sink is my the door when you walk in and not in the bathroom where it should be. Like why isn’t there a sink in the bathroom where, that’s unsanitary. The other problem is the bathroom is not really small but the placement of the toilet, if you are a tall or large person, you will not be able to close the bathroom door. The room was otherwise nice, bed comfortable, nice microwave/ refrigerator, and the tv is a good size. The balcony was nice and gives you a pool and oceanfront view. They do not have the sliding glass doors, the have like the regular front door the leads to to the balcony, which did not bother me, because the huge window gives you a nice view of the ocean without even having to open the door. The pool when we were there was big and clean. I had a nice view. They send you a list of instructions for your WiFi & key information and their policies. My only concern was the bottom of the instructions stated, management or security can enter your room at anytime without permission. That’s a no no for me, I pay for privacy, not to be in the middle of taking a shower and have to worry about someone being in my room. That’s a BIG VIOLATION for me!!! On the invoice at the bottom it says, the property is privately owned and managed reserves the right to refuse service to anyone! The 2 front desk young women I encountered was very nice. I asked for additional towels at checkin, because they don’t offer housekeeping services. I forgot to add our sink was stopped up and my husband let the front desk know, maintenance never came, my husband ended up unclogging the sink. It had a shampoo top and hair in it. FYI- I booked through booking, I did ask for a corner room, they didn’t meet my accommodations.
Pros: Nice Oceanfront room, tall building behind front desk office looks nice, vending machines, nice balconies, free parking spacious parking, I had a hassle free checkin with no problem. Pool is nice and big, Nice microwave, refrigerator and tv, lamps have plugs and old usb outlet on them.
Cons: dirty hallways, small creepy elevator, no sink in oceanfront king bathroom (it is located by the door), the sink doesn’t have code water, be sure to get extra towels and wash cloths, the room will only have enough for 1 day, they don’t offer early checkin, they don’t try and meet any accommodation request.
I would stay again, just in the other Ocean front King room that has the living...

My fiancé and I booked a 9-day stay here, paying $1,498 for what was supposed to be an oceanfront tower room. Upon check-in, I confirmed this with the front desk and was assured everything matched our reservation. However, we were given a room on the 4th floor — far from what I’d consider a “tower” room, especially with trees blocking most of the ocean view. When I brought this up, the response was, “We promise the room, not the floor.” It’s misleading to label something a tower room (which costs ~$200 more) if there’s no actual difference in view or experience.
We tried to stay positive and move forward with our vacation, but the problems only worsened. The elevator smelled like urine and cigarettes, and there were no visible inspection records posted. It didn’t feel safe to ride. Once we got to our room, we were hit with the smell of sewage. A lightbulb hung exposed from the ceiling, the toilet was practically child-sized, and the beds were extremely uncomfortable with barely-there blankets. The air conditioning didn’t work, and the heat made sleeping even more difficult.
Although we technically had an “oceanfront” view, the trees directly in front of the balcony blocked much of it. The hotel operates under a fully self-service policy — you have to get your own towels, toilet paper, and toiletries — and not without dealing with rude staff along the way.
The pool was so heavily treated with chemicals that within minutes our skin began to sting and our eyes burned. You couldn’t even see through the water. One particularly upsetting moment was when a little girl was injured and bleeding at the pool. It took over 30 minutes to locate a staff member, and when someone finally arrived, they only had small Band-Aids. This was a serious safety concern — there seemed to be no first aid protocol or readiness for emergencies.
Another major issue: the overall atmosphere. While not the hotel’s fault directly, it felt like no one was monitoring anything — kids were left unsupervised, and we encountered several guests who were clearly intoxicated or using substances, which made the environment feel unsafe and chaotic.
Finally, on our last day, we placed our belongings near the door while we did a last-minute room check. When we came back out — our things were gone. The staff had no idea where they were. After searching the property, we found our belongings next to the trash. Keep in mind — our room hadn’t been cleaned once during our 9-day stay, yet the one time someone enters, they discard our personal items?
Additional issues included: • Clogged sink • Dirty bathroom • Bedding that appeared unwashed and used
Overall, this stay was miserable from start to finish. Between the false advertising, unsafe conditions, poor customer service, and lack of cleanliness — I strongly do not recommend this property to anyone. We were beyond disappointed and couldn’t...
Read moreHOTEL HAS ROACHES-- Holy hell, listen to the bad reviews. I brushed them off, saying that all hotels I've stayed in had bad reviews and I've never had real complaints; this hotel is the exception. For $160 per night we dealt with the following.
-Front desk service was not okay; guy had to be high.
-No cleaning service so for a week stay you better be prepared yourself
-wifi DOES NOT work. You can not connect to it; it won't even get to the point of letting you enter the password
-strong roach smell in the room. If you've ever had an infestation, you NEVER forget the smell
-earwigs in the shower and closet
-closet doors don't close, they are random room doors just screwed into the closet frame that don't fit. Looks shabby, there's no point in the doors since they can't close
-there are thick globs of paint EVERYWHERE and on everything. Outlets painted over, baseboards not taped off so they got painted over.
-the shower is DISGUSTING. I'm talking lots of paint in the shower itself peeling up, darkness in the crevices (meaning mildew/mold), the mirror frame is coming off, the towel rack is halfway ripped off the wall, the toilet is not secure to the floor, the sink faucet is janky and loose, the shower faucet is even jankier
-the TV is antenna, not cable (for the price, cable is expected)
-the door handle/key card assembly is in horrible condition and the door handle is loose. Does not feel secure when we leave the hotel.
-the room we got has incredibly bright lights glaring onto the balcony, so watching the ocean at night isn't possible
-the pool looks beautiful in the photos, but they don't seem to clean it. In fact they use a water hose to spray debris into the pool from what we saw this morning. The bottom is sandy because they don't vacuum it. Meanwhile the hotel next door did vacuum and clean their pool this morning; we watched.
-the hallways STINK. Smells like garbage cans and pot
-only one elevator for whole hotel, and it is SKETCHY. Makes some unsettling noises, has zip ties holding up the ceiling valance, it stinks, has broken wood, remnants of railing mounts, it's ugly and globbed with thick paint
-when staff is cleaning out rooms and emptying hallway trash cans, they just leave the halls lined with the full trash bags and collect them all at once later
-frequently see full trash bags and dirty sheets in hallway
-walls look dirty, have smears and stains despite the globs of paint from attempts to "refresh" the building
-entire building is just nasty and stinks, thick nasty globs of paint everywhere
We got ripped off. $160 per night is unacceptable for this dump. Do not stay here. You've...
