I’m leaving this only because I feel everyone should be warned but also that the management here should be ashamed and of they are decent human beings they will take this and simply fix it and not take it for anything more than pointing out that there should be a sense of responsibility to guests when you are in the hotel business. I Travelled here for a conference, and I had no control of the booking process, first of all. I actually went with no expectations.
First and foremost, it needs to be known that the staff at the front were actually amazing, sweet, sincere , friendly and were awesome. They really went above and beyond did everything within their control to make us all feel taken care of all week I spite of so many complaints. They did not show it if they were discouraged which I’m sure they had to be after the week was over.
So there were some major issues that were not the fault of any of the (probably poorly paid if I had to guess) staff. These issues are the complete responsibility of the hotel management company and should be addressed but I will unfortunately not ever be back to see if they thought enough of their patrons to fix.
So for starters, I thought it was going to be great on first impressions. But as I was waiting to check in I observed two different people who were there as part of this conference also, who came back and forth to the desk several times, and had to get a different room. Not only once but for one person 3 rooms, and another 4 rooms before it was satisfactory. Through the week I heard first hand of at least 3 others who also had to get another room for one issue or another. One story involved dirty bedding, another the toilet was messed up, etc.,
So obviously I was really worried about what my room would be like. Well it was fine at first. But the safe was broken I couldn’t use it. Something wrong with the digital lock. Then, On the wall above the refrigerator was a smashed cockroach that was left by the squisher to become a crispy morsel of wall decor.
It was the overpowering smell of marijuana that was the worst part. Now this wasn’t a slight whiff in the breeze. It was all encompassing, in the elevators, halls and in the rooms so stifling that the last 3 nights I slept with the patio door open with the ocean breeze because I was getting a headache otherwise.
In between the marijuana smell which was strongest at night, the overpowering smell of freshly mopped floors done with a week old sour mop was lingering in the elevator lobbies. It was truly horrible. Like a dead animal. Everyone would have their faces buried in their clothes while waiting.
Which was the next disaster. Several of the elevators were always broken and the ones that were working were slow and sounded like they would go into free fall at any moment. We would have breaks and get out at certain times every day so it was like pandemonium in rush hour in san fransisco. You would think that if a hotel has a venue for conferences they would also have provisions for more efficient movement within the facilities. There is only one way in and out of the hotel, through the front door. It was awful trying to get in and out, especially with luggage. Also they do not enforce their own rule, no small cars on the bottom floor of parking garage, and i almost got hit several times trying to get my large truck up the other floors of the garage to find parking. the antenna hit every time. But no one wanted to take the stairs because there were syringes YES SYRINGES AS IN ILLEGAL DRUG ABUSE / HEPATITIS in the stairwells!! So I don’t write bad reviews. I just don’t. But this was so far above and beyond any basic level of decency that should be standard in America for a hotel that caters to law enforcement of all things (yes this was a law enforcement related conference). So needless to say, I believe it speaks for itself but now we all know why the rooms were so cheap and why everything smelled like weed. It’s highly NOT recommended to stay here unless you don’t mind the needles, death smell, dead...
Read moreFirst and foremost I'm happy to report that we did not find any bugs of any kind anywhere in the hotel. The front desk staff were super nice and helpful, if anything I mostly saw customers being rude because they didn't read the paper they signed and because check in is at 4 pm and there was an extremely long line to check in and everyone was wet and cold and tired from swimming in the ocean all day.||I was told directly that you have to request housekeeping, so the reviewers here that are complaining of no housekeeping just didn't have their listening ears on that day. Room was clean where it mattered the most such as the toilet, beds, shower, floors, and fridge. Windows were very dirty, microwave was slightly dirty (looked like it had been quickly wiped out and they missed a lot of spots) and there was a huge dirty orange industrial extension cord spilling out from behind the bed that was powering the built in nightstand lamps. These lamps were the only lights in the room besides the bathroom light that worked, none of the overhead lights worked in our room. ||Not many outlets to charge your phone while you sleep, only one behind each bed that was hard to get to. Pillows were not flat they were brand new. Blankets consist of just a top sheet and one very thin sheet like blanket. Although it was very hot in our room and the AC wouldnt go down past 66° (which was still hot with the July sun beating in through those big windows) so the thin blankets didnt bother us. ||What everyone really isnt kidding about though is the state of the building. It really is falling apart. Temporary I beams holding up the bottom floors ceiling, elevators with open holes in the ceiling where cameras used to be, construction stints up the side of the exterior of the building, there was even a loose pipe outside our window which someone had tied a rope around and then smashed the end of the rope in the window to hold it there. ||All the thresholds are unfinished cracks in the floor, most of the light switches in our room had wall paint all over them, the stairwell was the concrete industrial kind it smelled nasty and there was a ton of spilled cat food and a dirty diaper in there the entire first day of our stay. Both of the pools and the arcade were open and looked clean. They have a self automated snack bar here that I was very happy with the pricing of! They werent overcharging like other hotels do, everything was the same price as any gas station around. |There was plenty of parking in the parking garage even though we went on the 4th of july, the top 2 entire floors were almost completely empty. They even let us park there all day so we could hang out on the beach before check in time.||Overall I enjoyed my stay, but this is more of a hotel you book if youre just looking to sleep in the room and spend all day out of the hotel itself. Fun for kids and super convenient but not a classy or luxurious experience if thats what you're...
Read moreSun=Yes Sand=Yes Resort=NO!|This place is ok for a motel but not a resort. BE WARNED! ||1st of all there is no “free parking” available. ||2nd- the hotel and garage are being held up by jacks! I understand renovating but this doesn’t even seem like it’s up to code. There is no way this place passes inspection! My family overheard the hard hat guys saying they were worried the concrete in the garage was going to damage the cars!!!||3rd- the hotel is filthy everywhere you look and smells in the room hallways. ||4th- on the room itself it had mold in the ceiling, inside the cabinets of the kitchenette there was mold and some had no handles at all, the handles to the furniture was all rusted and if u opened a cabinet it might fall off. Two people at the front desk said that rust is normal on the beach and I can attest that is not true since I lived all my life in Miami Beach. U will need to have a tetanus shot just to be in that motel. If u turned on the bathroom faucet the pipes would make loud noises. The floors have obvious water damage in the rooms and elevators as the floors are soft. ||5th- there were also no real utensils or pots in the kitchenette. They looked filthy and there were roaches. Inside the kitchen cabinet was also mold. ||6th- the ac in the room was horrible. The room always felt muggy and we had to buy 2 fans just to circulate the air in the room. The worst part was that the second bed was practically on top of the ac unit so if u slept on that side u froze through the night. ||7th- the indoor heated pool is more like a sauna with a pool in it. The first day was fine but the next day was not. They put so much chlorine in the pool that it severely faded my brand new bathing suit and our eyes were burning. ||And every time we went to the front desk people were there either complaining about their room or asking for a refund to cancel their reservations. One person said their room was wet no matter how much she dried the floor. The pictures are deceiving and this place is run down. ||It felt unsanitary and unsafe so we let the front desk know. They changed our room and that was the same thing!!! We changed to a third room and it was slightly better but this has been the worst stay we have ever had. I’m a breast cancer survivor and this trip was my first trip after my treatments and what a disappointment!||I called Priceline and they said they can’t do anything. That the hotel had to give permission to do a refund of any kind. To say that I will never book through Priceline or SunNSand Resort is an understatement. The 1 ⭐️ is because we were on the beach and the staff is nice. |At check out I did try to speak with a manager and they didn’t even have one. He was moving from DC to Myrtle Beach so there is no one that can actually help. I was given contact information for their front desk manager and left having to leave with no resolution...
