Went for the ocean plastics installation. Definitely some serious misinformation being spread through the gallery. No scientific sources or evidence based claims to be seen.
We need to be concerned with fishing, not plastic straws in the ocean.
"A survey by scientists with Ocean Cleanup, an organization working to develop technologies to reduce ocean plastic, found that at least 46 percent of the plastic in the âGreat Pacific garbage patch,â a floating gyre the size of France made up of plastic, comes from fishing nets. Itâs worth noting that miscellaneous discarded fishing gear makes up the majority of the rest.
World Animal Protection reports that 640,000 tons of gear are lost and pollute oceans each year. But this abandoned fishing gear goes well beyond pollution. âGhost nets,â for example, are a danger to marine habitats and sea life. In 2016 there were 71 reported cases of whales caught in abandoned fishing gear off the U.S. Pacific coast."
While ditching plastic straws may make you feel good inside, the BEST thing we can do to help marine life and the planet is to leave fish off our plates and switch to a compassionate vegan diet.

Read moreWe originally were headed for Savannah's playground but traffic had us turn around and miss our way. So, we followed the yellow brick road to the grandest of strand treasures at the Art Museum! đ
What a wonderful place to visit with family or friends. There are 2 floors of professional art installations with seasonal exhibits. Everything is accessible via elevator and/or ramps with plenty of viewing room.
You can experience The World of Frida through September 2022. They offer an Eye Spy game for children and a lovely sitting area with ocean views and a community puzzle to work on. There are classes you can take and a gift shop full of artistic treasures.
New goals, I would love to have my own artwork exhibited in a collection here some day! Definitely going to become a member and become a part of this thriving and professional New Earth art center!
Don't forget to leave a donation if you are able to when you stop by! I won't spoil the show with too many photos but just enough to give you a sneak peak of what to...
Read moreMy husband and I love to go to this art museum every time we visit myrtle beach. There was a exhibit this last time focusing on woman artists. There was also an exhibit that showcased old maps of the area. That was really cool. We go through it quickly. We were there only 30 or 40 minutes cuz it's small.
It's free for now. There's a place for donations. They may be charging an entrance fee eventually.
There's a little tea area with hot water and bagged teas to choose from with a large seating area.
It looks like they teach art classes, too. There are a couple of bathrooms. There are stairs to go up to 2nd floor or you can use the elevator.
There's a small parking lot in front but more spaces in the back.
Visit this museum if you...
