I have seen the reviews most recently and I don't know about all of you that have stayed there but the the dates we were there the week of Thanksgiving and the room we had was just unbelievable! From the time we checked in the room after we got in and saw the room I called the front desk and told them we were not happy with this room as there was so many things wrong with this room and drove over 9 hours to get there! And became on a FEMA voucher from Asheville North Carolina where we had hurricane Helene, and we wanted a nice place to stay after all we have been through for 3 months! The beds were a joke to say the least and I had to buy a comforter to make the bed comfortable and I asked if we could possibly move to another room and I said they were the same or do we want to just check out and I said what what are you freaking kidding me I found a bug in one of the drawers and as we looked around the room and as we looked around the room we just noticed how just everything was so old and outdated and Rusty doors in the toilet kept running how to mention the very thin sheets on the two very small double beds in the bathtub the enamel was peeling away from it I'm very unstable unsteady bathtub to stand in and the door is very heavy very loud and very old been slamming all night and there are hardly any outlets in the room no USB ports and so I had to buy a surge protector so I can plug in my devices so I spent money on a comforter and a surge protector so after getting all of those things we had to make the best of it of course there was nowhere else to go and we were on a FEMA voucher for this so-called free room and believe me out of the four choices I had if I had known that this place look like this I would have never chose this one in which state in almost all the hotels even the pet rooms at other places and nothing and I mean nothing has ever looked like this dump and the elevators are so old and Rusty and loud and slow and that's so called lobby remain to be seen and the breakfast room is also kind of disgusting because the food wasn't that good that was uncomfortable in there and I'm sure the other floors or the other rooms we're not as discusting as this room 302 was! But we may Thanksgiving and the rest of our stay there and the stairways are very dangerous all cement I asked for a little dog we had to watch her very carefully to be safe. And we were out for the day came back and had been raining and I noticed the window was leaking over the AC unit which my suitcase was nearby and got all wet! When I called for maintenance to come up and look which took over half an hour because I had to call twice! And when the maintenance guy did come up to the room I just brought some towels I did nothing except say oh you can't stop the rain! I said what? So had to just put the towels on top of the unit to stop the water! So oh no it was disgusting just really disappointing time in the room so we try to stay out of the room as much as we could so thanks a lot South nags Head comfort inn for making our stay in that room unbearable but we did! And we don't live in a dump so we didn't expect to come to one oh I took pictures and everything I even called the corporate comfort inn headquarters and even FEMA and they are not happy at all and I filed a complaint with the national headquarters of comfort inn and FEMA and do you know what one of the employees tell me that this hotel has been updated 5 years ago and I just laughed because I said I was here 5 years ago and we didn't see any renovations are updating going on with that hotel so what a joke that was telling me that how...
Read moreOur first time in OBX. Came for early spring break with my 14-yr old daughter and our two medium-size dogs. Booked room the day of arrival in OBX. It was off-season so nearly all hotel & rental sites had availability. My challenge was finding pet-friendly, ocean-front, at a reasonable rate, and best location for all we wanted to do. I was skeptical about Comfort Inn, but the day was getting late and we were tired.
Note: Most places charge a per dog/per night fee, and the amount can range significantly. The Pet Fee is not added into the price when booking online, and it’s not known unless you contact the hotel and speak with a live representative. This hotel charges a flat rate of $25 per night, whether one or two dogs.
Linssey at the front desk was the nicest contact of all the places I called. She was attentive, accommodating and pleasant. If it weren’t for Linssey and the ocean-view room, I would not have stayed at this hotel.
The entrance and lobby are bright & open. There is a nice wooden deck with unobstructed ocean view and easy-access to the beach. Our room was spacious and had a balcony overlooking the deck below, the beach and the ocean. The sound of the waves was so close it was like being right on the beach. We woke early every morning to catch the sunrise and watch everything come to life. Hot breakfast was available every morning.
Overall, hotel is outdated and dingy. The third floor is reserved for pets, and it’s like stepping off the elevator into a nightmare. The smell was a combination of cigarette smoke, dirty carpet, urine and stale air. The hallway is dark and ominous despite the warm-glow lighting fixtures down the length of it. The room doors are steel but have improper fit, as gaps of light can be seen around edges. Very poor insulation/soundproofing. Barking dogs, muffled conversations and “slamming doors” could be heard clearly through the walls and down the hall. Our room was dusty, the floor lamp crooked, plastic chairs that belong outside, and the way our dogs sniffed and responded to the carpet - I told my daughter not to walk barefoot. Bedding, towels, bathroom, all were clean and tidy but the room did not feel clean. The shower was hot, but shower curtain didn’t fit properly…to long and not wide enough.
To my surprise and appreciation, Linssey sent me a text shortly after check-in to inquire about my satisfaction with the room. I mentioned the stench from the hallway and a barking dog left alone next to our room. She contacted the dog-owners next to us, and had maintenance work on the hallway. The smell wasn’t gone, but it was better by the time we left.
This trip was beneficial in learning about OBX, which we love and will be back-maybe just not staying...
Read moreI made reservations online weeks in advance. Looking forward to celebrating my wife’s birthday at the beach with an ocean view room and balcony. We have stayed at several Comfort Hotels and really enjoyed our stays. Nice rooms, great staff, amenities, etc so it is our first choice for hotels. We arrived early and knew our room would not be ready but the two ladies at the front desk said they would call us when it was ready. We appreciated that and left to go site seeing. We never got that call. We went back at 4pm, the normal check in time and now there was only one person checking guests in and a long line. We were fourth in line and it was taking approximately 15 minutes to check each guest in so finally after waiting for almost one hour we were next. I gave the lady our reservation information and also told her that we were there earlier but didn’t get a call. I wasn’t complaining, just an FYI, but she took offense and said she was busy since she was the only person at check in. She asked if I had a room preference ( which surprised me) and I replied back with what were my options. She mumbled something and said never mind and gave us room 203. We went to the room and we were horribly disappointed.(there was no balcony,no ocean view, just a view of a fence surrounding a pool that was under repair). My wife was raging mad. I called the 800 number and they said to go back to the office and request a different room. After waiting in line another 30 minutes I asked for a different room, upstairs and away from 203. She gave us room 623 which was what we originally thought we imagined when we made our reservation. It was an ocean view room with a balcony. When I asked about a balcony room she said all ocean view rooms had balconies except the second floor rooms. I still don’t understand why she originally disrespected us and put us through the whole aggravating situation. Also, since we are gold members we usually are offered a bottle of water or refreshment and are acknowledged for our loyalty. Not at this Choice hotel. Anyway after this experience, and exchanging rooms, things were a lot better. We will think twice about staying at this hotel in the...
