As someone who has frequented this restaurant several times over the past decade, I was less than impressed with our most recent visit. My sister, two cousins, family friend and I arrived on Friday 7/27 in the evening to enjoy dinner at this establishment. We were promptly seated by the hostess once our name was called on the list, and told our server would be right with us. Our server, Sandy M., swung by our table after about 5 minutes of us sitting there, claiming she would be "back in just a minute" to take get our drink order. Her just a minute turned out to be almost 25 minutes, and while we understood the restaurant was busy, she didn't apologize to us for our wait.
She took our drink order and food order at the same time, as we were all ready to order. When asking about having butter and sour cream put on our baked potatoes, she stated "Well yeah that comes on all of them" in a pretty snarky voice, as if we were supposed to know what comes on each item on the menu. After taking our orders she stated our drinks would be out in "just a minute". We waited patiently, and our drinks ended up coming out 15 minutes later, with our salads, bread and appetizers. She messed up two of the drink orders, and as she was handing out the salads, only one of the four dressings ordered were correct. When we asked for the correct dressing, she rolled her eyes at us and stated "be back in a minute". She ended up bringing back 6 dressing cups and just sat them on the table and left.
Shortly after our salads and appetizers were dropped off at the table, our food was then delivered by our server. All of the food came out, except for my sister's who only her side was brought out and the server stated her main dish would be out again in "just a minute". About 15 minutes passed by before my sister received her food, the crab leg steamers. She took the lid off and handed it to the server to take back to the dishes, as there wasn't enough room on the table. Instead the server insisted she needed it for her shells, and stuck it underneath my sister's seat at the table. My sister didn't use the lid, as she was able to put her shells back into the steamer plate that they came on. The server never returned to ask how the meals came out, not like the food was as good as it used to be for the price they are charging. And we had to stop the waitress while walking by to ask for boxes and our checks. Her eyes got real big and she stated "you ALREADY want your checks?" and threw up her hands and walked away. Yes we did want our checks, as we had been there for well over an hour and were full, we are ready for our checks. She brought the checks and the boxes, and walked away. She finally returned to grab the checks about 10 minutes later, and when she returned with the check slips to sign, she didn't give my sister her change. My sister asked for the change on her check, and she gave my sister a very weird look and stated "Are you sure you want your change?" to which my sister replied, yes. Sandy then went out to state "Well you only gave me $40 for a $35 check, so are you sure you want your change?" My sister again replied, "Yes I want my change", as she was planning on leaving more than just the $5 change that she was given. However, the waitress threw the $5 at my sister and as she walked away stated "Make sure you guys don't forget to tip me!". I was at a complete loss for words once she mumbled that. As a person who worked in the restaurant industry for over 6 years as a server, I was completely shocked that a server could treat someone this way and then demand being tipped? We asked another server to get the manager for us to speak to, and she stated she would. But 25 minutes went by and no manager showed up to our table. We did end up talking to the hostess at the front who stated she was one of the managers as well. She did apologize for the service we received. However, I will not be returning to this establishment, and either will my family. Go somewhere else for better food at...
Read moreDO NOT waste your time going here!! Horrible experience. We came to Nags Head for spring break and decided to go to a restaurant every night all week long because of our love for seafood and great dining experiences. We tried 7 restaurants and had mostly lovely experiences overall - but this was THE WORST. Scroll to bottom of my post to see other places you should go instead of here!
The hostess was incredibly rude to my husband - but we decided to stay anyways. A few moments later, I asked an employee by the name of Alex to take a picture of my family outside to capture the beautiful sunset while we waited for our table. (I’m 8 months pregnant- and we love grabbing pictures of these special times together) The patio was empty & they had a private party of prom teenagers that were starting to trickle in so we asked if it was okay if we used the outside space to grab a really quick picture before their party began and of course they welcomed it. Instead of helping to take a quick picture, Alex’s response was so rude that everybody stood stunned as how abrasive she was to me. I can’t say I’ve ever been spoken to- the way Alex did to me and it was not only rude but humiliating. An employee Lindsay noticed how rude she was and kindly offered to grab a picture for us- but the whole debacle over a picture was unreal. My husband immediately decided we wouldn’t give our business to this place and we left and had an amazing experience next door at MILLERS! It was wonderful!
As a family of 4 who tried multiple restaurants across Nags head- our overall dining experience was filled with great food and friendliness! here are some suggestions for places you’ll love instead of this awful place:
1.) Blue Moon Beach Grill- amazing food, friendly staff, arcade to entertain kids 2.) Millers- best sunset view, treated us SO friendly and kind, food was incredible 3.) ocean boulevard: WOW!! Food was 5 star and the staff made us feel so special! Great for a special occasion or special night out...
Read moreThis incident occurred on 6/14/2023. We were a party of six. We were seated at 7:30PM. After 10 minutes our waitress arrived. At that time, we gave her our drink order and dinner order. When the silverware arrived, we were given 4 sets for a party of 6. The waitress said they were out of clean silverware. After 20 minutes, we were served the complimentary cornbread. Mind you, no drinks had arrived. By the way, the plates for the cornbread were not clean! After we finished the cornbread, the drinks arrived minus three! That is when I told the waitress we were going to leave. She lightly apologized and walked off. Maybe to complete the drink order...who knows? It was time to go once we realized 3 drinks were missing, plates were dirty, silverware was lacking and we were hungry after almost 45 minutes. We had only consumed the complimentary cornbread and some of the drinks. The two cocktails we ordered never arrived. Unfortunately, one of my sons had left his wallet on the table when we decided to leave. He called the restaurant to inquire about his wallet and was informed it would be at the hostess station. When he walked in the owner was waiting next to the hostess. The hostess handed him his wallet and the owner proceeded to verbally attack my son. He actually thought my son owed him $109 for food we were never served. Other words were exchanged and my son returned to the car. Bottom line, the owner/manager was not interested in exploring the extremely poor service, but proceeded to belittle my son. Ervin...relax, we will never return to a place that deserves a negative star rating! I am 70 years old and this ranks at the top of poor service/attitudes of all restaurants I have ever visited. We were never served our meals, so I cannot rate the food. I am guessing a one star or worse? My advice is to go somewhere else to enjoy an evening out...
