A Solid Stay at Caption by Hyatt – Gulch District, Nashville
This is the second location for Hyatt’s new Caption brand in the U.S., which is designed with a younger, modern audience in mind. The hotel opened in December 2024, and like any new property, there are growing pains to address. During my stay, I encountered an issue with my first room, but the front desk staff were fantastic in resolving it quickly and accommodating me in a new room. They even offered World of Hyatt points as an apology, demonstrating excellent customer service. I appreciated their professionalism and gave them grace, understanding that new hotels often work through these challenges as they host guests.
Location: The hotel is situated in the heart of Nashville’s vibrant Gulch District, a prime spot for exploring the city.
Parking: Parking was one of the drawbacks of my stay. There are no clear signs for parking, and valet is the only option. After taxes, valet costs $61 per night—a steep but common rate for big cities. However, the valet service is not 24 hours, which was surprising given the price. I had to retrieve my car myself at 6:30 AM during checkout. I hope the hotel revisits this and offers 24-hour valet service in the future.
Check-In: Check-in was smooth, and the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming.
Room: The room was beautifully designed with high-quality finishes. The bed was comfortable, and the fluffy feather pillows were a nice touch. Each room comes with a fridge, and you can stream from your phone to the TV for a more personalized viewing experience. The Wi-Fi was fast, and the bath products were luxurious. As a World of Hyatt member, I also received a thoughtful in-room amenity of snacks and a handwritten note, which made my stay feel special. Additionally, the hotel provides water and ice machines on each floor, which is very convenient.
Amenities: This hotel has minimal amenities. There’s no pool, and the gym is quite small for the size of the property. It features dumbbells, cardio machines, and two cable machines, but I expected a larger gym with more equipment for a hotel of this scale.
Food & Beverage: The on-site restaurant offers a good selection of food. I only tried a to-go breakfast one morning, but it was tasty and reasonably priced.
Would I Stay Again? I’d recommend this hotel for a short trip, especially if you’re looking to explore the Gulch District. The parking situation is less than ideal, and the amenities fall short for a hotel of this size, but the exceptional staff and comfortable accommodations make it a...
Read moreThe hotel was very clean & the room was nice. The air conditioning did not hold the temperature that we set it at. We ended up leaving at 6am this morning as I could not sleep with it being so warm in the room. Had it set to 67° would wake up every hour or so for the whole 5 hours we were in the room to see the temp at 70° then 72°. We’d mess with the thermostat and it would go down but then go back up. When leaving we couldn’t get into the parking garage and the intercom was broken. Poor girl in the front had to come down to open the...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night a week after they opened & we enjoyed our stay! Front desk was pretty nice, you could kinda tell they were still learning the gist of it all. New construction building so yes it still had that lingering smell, but the 1 king bed room was very nice. On our check out morning house keeping did open our door before check out time without knocking, a bit unsettling.. but we brushed it off. Valet also takes a bit long to bring the cars out but I think they’re parked far. Overall good experience, we...
