We often stay at IHG properties however, this was the first time we stayed at this Nashville location. We will not be returning, however. Upon arrival, it was communicated to us that the parking option was to use their valet, which was an additional $55 per day. When asked if this had been communicated previously, the Hotel staff stated it was on their website. While checking in and while checking out, we overheard several other guests who were surprised that there were no on-site parking options available. This communicated to us that the website might want to make this more prominent so that multiple parties are aware of the lack of options . The response from the staff working at the hotel was rather disrespectful and curt. They did communicate that there was a “back lot” that we were welcome to park in however it was $50/a night and was “not safe” according to the hotel staff. I’m not sure why anyone would want to park in an unsafe location, so essentially there was no option but to utilize the $55 a night valet service. It was obvious that she had heard this concern multiple times and had a response ready to communicate. There was a letter given to us upon arrival regarding the construction that was going on in the hotel. We did not know this prior to our arrival. It would’l have been nice to have had this information prior to booking, however, it is obvious it would have decreased the number of people who booked rooms and therefore this was something else that was communicated upon arrival. It’s hard to imagine that those at the property did not know construction was going to be happening ahead of time. Within the first few minutes of checking in, we were disappointed regarding no parking option and to be forced to use the valet, as well as forced to deal with construction. Upon entering our room, the tub had not been cleaned. The portable bathmat had hair tangled in it when we rolled it out. During the middle of the night, our feet continue to get caught in holes in the sheets. This was communicated to the front desk staff who simply apologized, and offered to give points. I wasn’t interested in any points given that I would not be staying there in the future, or at any IHG properties. Seems like an easy response and one that was typical for the front desk to give any time, a guest communicated a concern. A better response might have been to change the sheets, and clean the bathroom. The people who worked the breakfast buffet were extremely polite, and very attentive to guests. The area was very clean with numerous breakfast options, very healthy and high protein options as well. This was appreciated, and was expected as this has been our experience as past IHG members. Moving forward, however, we will not be staying at IHG again. Was very disappointing the lack of understanding and responsibility that staff exemplified when concerns were presented. There is no excuse for not ensuring that people know about the valet parking. While I do understand it is in the very fine print on the website, that no one ever reads, the staff could do more to ensure that guests understand that there really is not an option, but that you were forced to utilize that. No one is going to park their personal vehicle on the street or in a vacant lot overnight. It was disappointing that the reason it is not communicated to potential guests, is due to the likelihood of lost business. and in the end, you’ve lost our business regardless. Very disappointed in the stay. Communication goes along way, as does first impressions. I would much rather pay a higher nightly rate and be in a clean, and transparent setting, than to...
Read moreI have been to many Holiday Inn Express Hotels and was unexpectedly disappointed with my Nashville Stay. Upon check in to the room, the overall cleanliness was not to standard as I am used to with other locations. The floor of the room was dirty...appeared to not have been mopped. I used a washcloth to confirm and after simply wiping up a bit of water that was on the floor from the sink, the towel was BLACK! This was accompanied by a clogged sink drain and no towels to shower with. After unpacking, I went to place valuables into the room safe that was located in the bottom of the wardrobe. The safe was already locked so I could not use it. In addition, it was not even bolted down. I was actually able to pick the safe up off the floor of the wardrobe and carry to the desk in the room to get a better look at it. I am still trying to figure of the purpose of the room safe if it can be carried out in one arm. When I approached the reception desk, I was told that they would unlock it for me with their code and that the safes are never bolted down. Again, questioning the purpose of the room safe while still trying to figure out what to do with my valuables. The following morning, I went to the dining room to have breakfast. The juice was watered down with no taste at all, there was 1 kind of yogurt (which were only available some of the days I was there), the hardboiled egg container in both refrigerators were empty but they did have an unknown liquid in the bottom of each egg container, 1/2 and 1/2 was only offered 1 morning of my stay. To top off my first breakfast day experience, the overall cleanliness was again unacceptable. The rugs were filthy, the breakfast server wore the same gloves to mop up a spill on the floor that she used to restock the breakfast food and to top it off, each morning the only bathroom next to the dining room was locked at the start of breakfast (I was told for them to clean it). I also handed the server a pair of tongs that I watched another customer drop on the floor and place back on the buffet counter only to watch the server replace with the same tongs. Overall, the selection was either hit or miss or completely out of stock on the basics. I left hungry and ate breakfast at local establishments. Coffee bar supplied us with cold coffee throughout the day that I assuming was never replenished after breakfast. I was shocked at the overall lack of concern and pride by the staff with the upkeep and cleanliness of the hotel. The furniture in the lobby was soiled and stained no matter where I sat. In addition, I walked into the elevator in the afternoon to a spill on the floor of the elevator. In just that 1 trip down to the lobby, 2 staff members got on with me and saw the spill. I returned later that day to the spill still on the floor just dried up and sticky- no one cleaned it up the entire day. My last interaction with the hotel was at check out and being told they could not find my car keys at the valet station. After several minutes of waiting, I went into the lobby to retrieve my own keys while I witnessed another customer being handed his keys and told to take the elevator down to retrieve his own car. While I may appear that my review is harsh, it's an honest review. I understand that a hotel can become dated and show occupancy use (which I am absolutely accepting of), the lack of keep up by employees was the most disappointing to me with this stay. When I travel, my hotel of choice is Holiday Inn Express due to be wonderful past experiences I have had and for the overall value. I will not return to this particular hotel in Nashville...
Read moreIf you need a decent place to stay for cheap, this hotel gets the job done.
If you have extra money to spend or just want to be more comfortable, I would look elsewhere.
This hotel is located on Broadway, but about a 10-15 minute walk from all of the action. Walking back from Broadway also requires walking up a hill which is exhausting. Take an Uber instead.
The hotel is generally clean and the staff is generally pleasant. Did we have any major issues staying here? Not particularly, but the hotel is outdated and neglected.
One of the elevators (the first one on the left) acted suspect the entire time we were here. I actually got stuck in it twice, where the elevator just didn't move for several minutes, or would go to a floor I didn't select and just sit there without the doors opening. It's a safety hazard and I would avoid that one.
The hotel has no hotel restaurant, but has a station where you can buy snacks. They offer free breakfast in the morning (6:30am-9:30am). The room where they serve breakfast is small and often when we would show up for breakfast, all of the seats were taken. On one occasion, they did open up more seating in another room.
The breakfast is your typical free hotel breakfast. It's not good, but at least it's something to eat in the morning. The cinnamon buns were decent. The biscuits could be good if they tried.
Each afternoon, there is a manager's reception from 4pm-6pm where they have flavored water and cheese cubes on a plate. Some days they also had BBQ meatballs available.
Down to the room - it is standard and a bit outdated. We had one small window in the corner of the room. The shade was all ripped up and also the automatic functionality didn't work to roll the shade up or down. I had to stand on a chair and physically roll the shade up just to bring some light into the room.
The air conditioner was extremely loud, but kept the room cool.
The beds were comfortable, but the sheets were old. I also realized that each day when housekeeping made my bed, they never changed the sheets. I know this because the same ripped holes and black scuff marks on my sheets never disappeared my entire stay.
The towels they initially gave us were bare bones and so we requested more.
The shower had stains on the wall that wouldn't come off.
Our bathroom was missing a wastebin so I had to request one when we arrived.
The area it is located in isn't terrible but I observed a homeless man hanging around outside in the front and throwing his things all over one morning.
Apparently there is a pool? No clue. The front desk never mentioned it and I never saw it.
There's valet parking but we didn't have a car so didn't use this amenity.
The room generally was quiet (could not hear other guests which was good). However, the position of our room (Room 414) facing 10th Ave N and Broadway did have noise some nights from the traffic outside. When traffic was heavy, it felt like the cars were honking in the room with you.
The hotel has a text concierge service where management asks you how things are going. When I responded about some of the issues I mentioned above (room condition, etc), they stopped responding to my texts. Real professional.
Overall, this hotel is good if you just need somewhere to rest your head and don't want to spend a lot of money.
However, there is better out there in Nashville. When our flight got cancelled on our final day, we opted to stay at Margaritaville, which was cheaper (!) and 100x better than the Holiday Inn Express...
