Fifi’s Custom Wigs — Local services in New Orleans

For a while now I have been salivating over the fantastic creations Fifi Mahony’s post to their Facebook page. One of their wigs was so beautiful, I sent them an email to see if there was any way I could get it or something similar. They responded right away and stated that if the wig was available they would move it to the French Quarter location and put it on hold for me.

I was over the moon when I picked up my wig and they were kind enough to fit the wig to my head and even did a few last minute touch-ups on the wig. Can’t ever too much glitter, right?

While I was visiting NOLA to see a friend who is unfortunately terminally ill, I will cherish my wig and love the smile it put on my friend’s face. Now back in Maine, I can’t wait to show off my lovely pink wig – with sparkles and butterflies. Thank you for your service...

I was unaware of the store's policy that wigs cannot be tried on unless you are buying (if there was a sign somewhere, sorry, I missed it). I've never seen myself in a wig and didn't know if I would even like it so when the sales person asked what I was interested in, I excitedly indicated that I just wanted to try things out and started to get out my $5 for the fee. He became incredibly rude, rolling his eyes and saying "I'd rather not then, we're low on wig caps and we're here to sell wigs". Yikes. I don't think I've ever been made to feel so small and embarrassed in a store before. It is unfortunate as the wigs are very beautiful and if I had liked the look, I certainly would have bought one or more. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. They'd just gotten a shipment in, so they were busy taking that out and setting it up, but they still took the time to stop what they were doing and answer all of my questions. A family member needs a wig, and the folks at Fifi's were kind enough to give additional info on resources in the area. I ended up buying more than originally intended simply because of how much I valued the customer service at Fifi's.
