We’ve fallen in love with this cute little corner bakery during our 2-week period of frequent visits to downtown nyc. Involved with me dropping wife off and waiting in the car for 30-60 minutes at a time and thank God that Siena is here!
Atmosphere (5/5) - I first noticed it while driving by because of their full-length glass facade showing ppl cozy and enjoying their cup of joe and croissants! It’s cozy but not tiny, with comfortable seatings. Music not too loud, employees smiling, great vibe.
Food (5/5) - I ordered bunch of things so far, starting with Smoked salmon everything bagel (5/5) - an employee swore his undying love for this one when asked btwn that and a croissant sandwich, and it was a winner! Beautiful to look at, crunchy as hell on the first bite, and surprisingly loaded with oodles of smoked salmon. Slices of avocado and tomato on top of that means there’s no way to eat gracefully without spillage so pull your plates close and enjoy the chomp. I found the croissant-like bagel a pleasure to bite into, and while slightly salty, it was balanced out with the rest of the ingredients. Don’t let its size fool you - you’ll be full for 3 hrs! Sausage pastry (5/5) - I forgot the name but it’s in the pics. Unassuming flaky number with flavorful sausage and other toppings (tomato?$ rounding out the robust flavor. Smaller than the lox bagel but still nicely filling. Lattes and coffees were on-point as well. I had a PSL that tasted good without overpowering sweetness found in most, and enjoyed a full-bodied drip.
Service - this is self-serve type of place so you are informed to bring your plates to the back rubbish area. One key locked bathroom for after-Joe break, and the bakery staff are pleasant and nice.
This one set a high bar for me in all that a bakery/cafe should be. You should stop by - you won’t be...
Read moreSo, we went to try the cream filled croissants. We got the raspberry and the Nutella. The appearance of the raspberry was clean and the flavor was good. The cream was a bit thin but still had a nice flavor. The Nutella was an issue. It really was a bit of a mess. The drizzle on the top looked very amateur. Unfortunately it tasted nothing like Nutella. It just tasted like chocolate. Making your own Nutella is impressive if its delicious and has that beautiful stick to the roof of your mouth nutty unctuous goodness. Unfortunately this had none of those notes. We decided to get the Nutella cheesecake and see if it was just the croissant but unfortunately it was the same dull chocolate flavor. The cheesecake itself was smooth and typical of most bakery cheesecake. Its definitely worth stopping in and trying it out. The regular croissants were beautiful. I will say a friendly happy staff can make a place and the staff didn't seem very happy...
Read moreI usually don't write a review, but after spending nearly $70 on two breakfast croissants, both were rare in the middle, we had to throw them away. The coffee could have been better. I had a latte, which didn't even come close to the latte back home. Plus, the bakery, yeah, I didn't enjoy it. I figured my breakfast and coffee sucked; hopefully, my bakery was good. It was a waste of money because it ended up in the trash. I expect more from the review and the money I spend. Plus, the guy and the two girls weren't even friendly. I understand I am visiting New York, but can't you say good morning? The little hole in the wall me and my husband went to yesterday to have breakfast was way better, and the guys were friendly, and it cost us under $20. For the rest of our trip, we should find more places like that to experience food and...
