I've known this place for most of my life. My dad an uncle made this place their home. It's run by a staff that's New York to the core. And owned by one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Pull up a stool or sit at a table say hi and meet the best people ever. Yesterday Nancy's had their world famous golf tournament..and as I hadn't been around due to catching a rare blood cancer myelofibrosis and the hernia that filled the strokes an heart attacks. I figured it may be one of my last trips to the city, where since a child I loved exploring. My uncle j was gonna be there as he's a regular an a golf conisour. So I'd tod em I'd make the trip from Brooklyn with my e bike. Also I was sooooo afraid that since Billy wahl passed on. ( God needed a new right hand I figure ). So Melissa got the place and even though I know she not a big fan of me , as I seriously believed she refuse me service. But no , actually she was the nicest she's ever been. I've been sober so I order a Pepsi, she didn't charge me but I left a twenty anyway. Me. My uncle came in saw me gave a have hug. An sat four chairs away. Now I came from Brooklyn, walked from wall st as I miss the architecture.. that was tbe best part besides Melissa getting the bar of the day. I stayed about five minutes after I realized my uncle wasn't coming to sit with me, I said my goodbyes. I left and the place was still jamming.. everyone having fun just how I always remembered the place. Melissa at bar , music playing, people talking an eating and laughing all the laughter. Thank Melissa, I enjoyed the hour or so. And yes you rock as an owner..an no that was smoke that was Truth. Good luck to...
Read moreI would normally rate this bar 5 plus stars,, and I am certain if Mellisa was there I wouldn't be writing this review, she is the heart of this bar. I've been coming to Nancy's for over 20 plus years and have never had such a terrible expierence as I did today with the nasty, arrogant, vulgar and disrepectful women behind the bar today, August 21st. I was there for lunch and drinks with friends as we normally do when in the city. Shortly after ordering, the women turned the music up so loudly that no one at the bar could have a conversatiion. When the cook, waiter asked her to turn it down a bit, she cursed him out and told him to go to the kitchen where he belongs, and that this isn't a restuarant and if we wanted to have a conversation, we shouldn't go there, she continued to scream to the top of her lungs cursing, and saying that our bill was merely $70. We did intend to have a few more drinks but left the bar after that expierence. We felt horrible, and more so for the cook, waiter, I cannot recall his name. Nancy's must get rid of the nasty women before you lose well establish long time customers. We will only return when Mellisa is behind the bar. This nasty women should not be in the service business, and needs mental help, a total...
