The woman who braided my hair did a terrible job. She used a small comb for my hair which is very coarse, tearing and thinning my hair in certain spots. She tried to straighten it some by pressing the hair dryer right up against my scalp, burning my left ear, mind you she did all this combing and heating with no product and complaining that my hair was too thick. The style I wanted required extensions which she did put in some areas but in another area she didn't and couldn't complete the style. I tried to explain that that section needs extension also but she didnt seem to get it. And no, I don't have an incredibly small afro expecting someone to work a miracle. She even offered to do other styles that would have required more work and extension. In the end I told her to give me a few straight backs no extension since its the style I'm used to and is very simple. I should have just left, the straight backs were so unneat, the parts were all over the place, hairs were pulled from all directions leaving a spider web of hair in between the parts. And worst of all it was incredibly tight, the tightest I've ever felt which is a waste because they looked so messy only to be that tight. I only lasted a few hours before I took them out and my scalp is still tender even after I poured ice water over my head to relieve the redness. Its one of those situations where I dont know why I sat through that. Maybe I felt guilty because I had already walked in and she tried, but I shouldve left when I realized she didn't know how to handle thick hair. I wanted to try this place out because it had good ratings and I just moved here. But in my 24 years experience of having this texture of hair there are plenty of stylist who can handle thick hair. Whoever that was...
Read moreThey were rude, it took her a long bc she kept talking her friends, said $40 on the phone then $60 in person bc ‘you don’t have hair like ours’ (I’m half white with 3a/b/c hair), the middle part is crooked, one of the pretty is very off centered and she didn’t care at all that she was breaking off so much of hair by combing if without product before every braid. It took her an hour to do 8 braids and I have (long) thin hair. She made it seem like this kind of hair was difficult so it cost extra. When I asked at the end if it was her first time doing 3abc hair she said no, I’ve been doing hair 25yrs, ‘lots of white people.’ The shop was dirty, they weren’t inviting, my braids were done well, it was expensive. Giving two stars bc my hair was braided and I know it will stay for a while.
UPDATE: I went back 3 months later bc it was easy to schedule and at least I knew what I could do better, like coming with my hair dry. I got whom I believe was the owner of the shop and my hair was INCREDIBLE. I got stopped in stores, at church, on the stress by people telling me how good it looked and asking where I got it done. This woman was kind, treated my hair well and used special tools to make the braids look perfectly even. I recommended her to people and will absolutely be going back to her. Her name is Elizabeth....
Read moreI got my hair done here on July 23rd. I was charged an extra $40 because of my short hair, and the price was greater than anyone who had walked in that day. I ignored that because I was just thankful to get my hair braided, but the braids were not worth the price. within 6 days my braids started falling out. I thought it was only going to be 2 braids, but I didn’t even make it 2 weeks without maybe 10 braids falling out of the back of my head. I didn’t tug on my hair or even put them in a ponytail. They would fall out at random moments, in the store, while doing my work, etc. Moments that were clearly not my fault but the grip of the braider. I tried calling today to explain the situation, but I was told that if I didn’t like the braids I should’ve said something the day of, so I would be charged to get them fixed… I understand that policy but what I called for was not something that happened the day of but happened the days following. I’m very disappointed in this place. I’ve never paid such a ridiculous amount of money for braids to experience not having a full head of braids or the opportunity to fix them. It hurts me to leave a bad review because I always support black women but I just wouldn’t recommend to this place those...
