We booked this hotel as a secondary after leaving another hotel. As we approached the hotel, we noticed graffiti on the side of the building and a door resembling what i can only describe as a "buying spot". Walking in, the front desk attendant unlocked the glass box for us to enter the lobby. The lobby looked somewhat similar to the pictures online, but if they had seen the last 10 years without repairs. There was a plexiglass shield on the desk and notes written all over it, similar to a convenience store. We also noticed a bowl of earplugs on the desk, we wondered why. As we climb 3 flights of stairs to our floor because of the lack of an elevator, we noticed how tight the halls are. The room was abysmal. The bathroom was tiny, with a cracked toilet tank lid, and another sign on the wall, again, like a gas station. The window unit was stinky and let so much noise in, almost like it wasn't even there. there was paint splattered everywhere, like it was painted by a child. The sheets were surprisingly clean, but the floor was not. there were dead bugs, hairs and dust. We decided to immediately book another hotel, the Draper. We went down to the front and told him we were going to go ahead and check out and he seemed concerned and asked if we wanted to change rooms. We said no and that we wanted a refund, he said he wou l d have to talk to the manager. We called Expedia and they called the hotel and they said could not reach the manager( based on other reviews we dont think there is a manager). The problems with this hotel would not be solved with a new room. We did not feel safe leaving our bags alone and knew we would not sleep well. We left and went to another hotel. Would NOT recommend, unless you were desperate.

Spend the extra $25-30 to stay at a real hotel. Nice warm feeling when a homeless person is passed out in front of the hotel. Theres this double door entry system to get into the hotel because the area is so bad. I WALKED up to the 3rd floor (no elevator) and immediately smelled the hallway which was like a college bar. You could smell a mix of pee, throw up, booze and weed. Opened the door and knew immediately I couldnt stay there. The room was filthy, small and seedy. Air conditioning was so loud that I banged it to see if i could get the fan to quiet down and a huge plume of dust flew out of it and into the room. Bathroom was ok but I was so grossed out by the bed / room I checked out 5 minutes after entering. Front desk said they couldnt help with any refund or cancelation. I didnt care. First time in my life id rather lose my $175 than stay in a room. I walked a few blocks over to the EVEN Times Square Hotel which was $200 for the night. DIFFERENT league of hotel. PLEASE do yourself a favor, dont waste time or money and book another hotel with professional staff and some actual Standards 1st photo: room at Midtown West 2nd Photo: Homeless guy right in front of the entrance to the Midtown West. 3rd photo: Lobby of the EVEN HOTEL (beautiful) 4th Photo: Photo of the room at the Even that cost $25 more than the Midtown West

I am a well-travelled person who have stayed in several budget hotels. But this one, without a doubt, was the worse hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The front desk lady had a really bad attitude. She was impatient, rude, and lazy (there were two of them rotating shifts. The other one was nice). Eg. I lost my wallet and didn’t have a key card to come in. I had to ask her for another keycard. She sighed with annoyance, and was snide: “please do not lose this key card,” as she handed over me the spare key. The air con was buzzing extremely loudly and I found it difficult to sleep. Her remark was “AC is AC, you know?” Anyway. This was just the service. The condition of the hotel room was abysmal. - The ceiling light didn’t work. - the air conditioner buzz REALLY loudly. - the toilet flush was faulty, and water flowed all night. - the wifi didn’t work. And be careful when you booked a “double room” in booking.com. Don’t expect to see a twin bed. It’s a single bed. There simple wasn’t one single good thing, except for the fact that I only stayed here one night. Please stay at a backpackers inn where you at least will be treated as a proper customer and enjoy peaceful sleep.

My wife and I wanted a cheap hotel near MSG and that is what we got. It wasn't bad for a few nights. First there is no elevator! So if you have trouble with stairs move on. I believe the hotel is only 4 floors though so that wasn't even that bad. The hotel was looked and felt clean. A few things about the room.

LADIES THERE WASN'T A MIRROR IN THE ROOM. so no place to do makeup! My wife had to go to target and buy a little mirror. WELL there is a small mirror in the bathroom but we will get to that later.. In the general area of the room there is a small desk with a chair you would think should have a mirror with it but it did not. I don't know if that was just our room, maybe it had one and it broke and was yet to be replaced? OK, on to the bath room. ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE TO PUT THINGS. The sink is so small we were lucky the bar of soap they give you fit on it. The shower only had a small triangle piece of glass as a shelf. that only fits a razor and a can of shaving cream. The light int he bathroom is dim and is near the sink so you're pretty much showering in the dark. The sink is on the wall facing the toilet so you can't access the sink directly. you have to stand to the side of it and lean over. there is a mirror above the sink but with there being no place to put anything in the bathroom and the way the sink is on the wall its unusable unless you are a gymnast and can bend your body in ways mine can't.

MILLENNIALS there is only ONE available outlet in the entire room and that is in the bathroom. there was a small clock radio that has two USB ports. Luckily we had brought a plug that had four USB ports. so we unplugged the radio so we could plug that in. But with us each having a phone, tablet, and smart watch it was a struggle to charge things.

SAUNA, no the hotel doesn't have a pool or sauna, but there isn't a thermostat in the room and the heat was cranked up. I understand we stayed in November but it wasn't that cold outside. walking into our room you could actually feel the cloud of heat it was so damn hot. My wife usually is always cold and we had to turn on the air conditioner. Yes the hotel still had air conditioners in the window.(plugged into an extension cord and plugged in behind the TV luckily it didn't start a fire).

Over all it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't recommend for an extended stay, but if you were just going to a show and staying a night or two it's perfect. Only a block away from MSG/Penn Station. Decent pizza place across the street that's...

I made reservation at this hotel through booking.com. I arrived late at the hotel following a delayed flight from Houston to New York. When checking-in, the front desk staff on duty was a guy by the name of Thomas. He never smiled and never greeted when my wife and I stepped into the hotel. A very unfriendly person to be assigned to the front desk. Ok, check-in was done and we were given the room key cards and the room was at the 4th Floor. I requested for 2nd floor when making reservation in Booking.com but now we had to walk-up the staircase with our luggage to the 4th Floor which is still OK. After a minute, as we were walking up the staircase, Thomas came running up and told us there's a double booking. So, I went downstairs back to the front desk while my wife waited midway at the staircase. He told there was another guest who checked-in with the same confirmation number and yet told me to proceed to the room and check if it's occupied. He said if it's not occupied then the room is ours. So, I proceeded upstairs again and went to the room only to find out that it was locked from the inside and occupied. My wife and I both went downstairs with our luggage and started calling booking.com to find out what went wrong. It appears the hotel was 'overbooked' as claimed but I think they gave it away to another guest who probably paid higher rate. The fact that Thomas doesn't even know that a room is taken, still issued room key and even asked us to proceed to the room, is something that cannot be understood. Thomas is a complete idiot, incompetent and does not fit the hospitality industry. I will never come back...
