If I could give 0 stars, I would. Don't eat here unless you want to be left cold, hungry, and degraded.
Me and my partner sat down at 4pm. Ahead of the dinner rush we thought we were in for a real treat. We sat down outside and ordered a tonkatsu and a special and a two san pelligrino waters. The restaurant is not busy in the least. About 15 minutes went by our waiter came back out and informed us that they were out of the special. We changed our order and he want back in. We never saw him again after that.
Another table had sat down in that time and ordered. Another waiter brought out two bowls of ramen, which I thought must be ours. He turned and brought them down to the table that was sat after us. Another table sits down and orders. 30 minutes has gone by. At this point we were really starting to get hungry and had ran out of our waters, which had never been refilled once since we sat down.
My partner flagged down a waitress and asked for some water. Bothered that we asked for water, she reluctantly refilled our glasses. Having not seen our waiter in a half hour at this point, we asked her if our food was coming out any time soon. " very busy today " was the only answer we got, as we watched door dashers walk in and out with takeaway orders in a moment. Something was very wrong.
The other waiter dipped his head out every few minutes and looked frantically around. Surely he must see we have never gotten our food. We're at 45 minutes waiting here. We were now starving and the early fall night was starting to cool down. The table next to us got there food and we were still left waiting. We agreed if it didn't come in 15 minutes, we were leaving.
15 minutes goes by and we decide to give up And go find a slice somewhere. We informed our waiter, who had reappeared at that point, that the wait was too long and we were leaving. We gathered our things and set off to find the nearest slice. Any sensible restaurant would have given you then entire meal for free at this point.
Half way down the block he shouts down the street at us " What about the waters ! ", demanding we pay for our San pelligrinos that probably cost them a fraction of what they charge. We told him the wait was too long and he screamed back at us " Next time you come back, don't come back here !"
After that awful experience. I don't think I ever will. Your food is overrated and overpriced, and your service is worse than any other restaurant I have ever been to, hands down.
Avoid this place unless you want to have an awful time, and be completely ignored by their indifferent staff. That is, until they remembered that you owe them money and they come chasing after you.
Shame on you Mr. Taka. 5 thumbs...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been going to Mr. Taka for several years now. The ramen is amazing here and thatās why I keep coming back. But the service here is terrible! Once this place opened up again after the pandemic every time I go, there is always a problem. I truly donāt understand it. They either forget my drink, forget to bring utensils, forget to check up on us and even forget to put our order in. The last time I visited was truly a terrible experience. I went to get lunch at 4:20 PM June 4th, 2022, it was empty and barely anyone inside the restaurant. We put our order in for edamame, veggie gyoza, spicy stamina ramen and the spicy vegan ramen with two sapporos. The only thing that we ever received were the two sapporos. After an hour of waiting and seeing people who came in AFTER us being served their ramen, we asked about our appetizers.
It should never take an hour for something as simple as edamame to come out. We asked our waitress and she seemed confused. Which made me realize that she NEVER put our order in. How is it that after I asked for my appetizers they come out within 5 mins? At this point I assumed she put in our order for our ramen. We asked how much longer do we have to wait and was told 5 mins. Which was a lie! We see another table being served ramen who came in an hour after us and we were still waiting!!!
At this point I asked for the check because I refused to wait any longer since we were never going to be served. They even took long looking for my bill because our waitress NEVER PUT OUR ORDER IN! At this point we ended up walking out and they didnāt even notice!! Iāve never walked out of a restaurant before! EVER!! Iām truly disappointed about this experience. I will never come back to eat here again. Iām better off ordering take out instead.
Mr. Taka truly has the best ramen Iāve ever had but please do something about your service. It was NEVER this bad...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePOOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! My boyfriend and I came all the way from New Jersey to have Mr. Taka, because this is where we had our first date. When we arrived we were greeted with smiles & seated right away. After 10 minutes we noticed no one came up to us to place an order. I saw that our waitress was a bit stressed so I figured I would give her some time. We sat at the high top bar & then my boyfriend noticed there was no one cooking the food. I thought it was odd but I figured maybe the cook was on break. It wasnāt until I saw the other waiters on the phone that we noticed something was wrong. No one came up to us and said anything. Then a cook appeared and started throwing things in the kitchen. My boyfriend was ready to leave but I was so hungry. It wasnāt until I called the waitress over & asked if we can place our orders that she said one moment. She went outside to speak with the other waiters and than a male waiter came back to our side of the bar. He stated āWe are sorry guys the kitchen is no longer taking food orders.ā I realized that if we did not ask to order, they would not have told us. Of course I was upset or else I wouldnāt be writing this review. No matter what issues are arising, next time communicate with your customers. We understand things happen, but sitting for almost 30 minutes when I cannot order is ridiculous. It sucks because this is such a special place for us. I doubt weāll be...
