I went with my friend on a Saturday evening. The estimated wait time was 75 minutes! The actual wait was 1 hour. You give your name and phone number and you will get a text when your table is ready. They give you 10 minutes to get back so don't stray tooo far away. It would be appreciated if they offered wifi for their guests while waiting but alas not part of the wait this time.
We decided to sit at the bar upstairs instead of a table downstairs, but just so you know, they did have options. There were larger groups downstairs and more children so the bar felt better for both of us. They do have hooks for your bags under the bar, which I always appreciate.
We ended up not getting burgers because we knew we wouldn't be able to eat everything. I got sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo, they were delicious. She got the Idaho fries, which were also good with the right amount of salt.
We decided to split the Brooklyn Blackout shake, which was a chocolate shake that came with brownies on the side. I recommend asking for a second plate since the whipped cream fell off due to gravity. Another plate also makes it easier to eat the brownie. Both the chocolate shake and the brownie were rich and decadent.
A very nice man ordered the Oreo Shake for us and it was super delicious. I love the cookies and cream flavor and their version did not disappoint. I definitely got a sugar high from it. I'm glad I ended up trying that one because I'll probably come back just for that!
The people who work there are super friendly and made the overall experience worth it for us. Both the host and the bartender-waiter were kind and welcoming and it felt like a place we could stay for all night (but we did decide to leave sooner because we felt bad for people waiting outside). Even when we were waiting outside, we noticed the host Jason was very professional and courteous to people who asked about the wait time, even if they ultimately chose to head...
ย ย ย Read moreRarely do I ever encounter a scenario where I forcibly excuse myself from a restaurant due to lack of service and overall unprofessionalism, but unfortunately thatโs where Iโm at with this review.
My sister and I attempted to dine here around a week ago. The waiter we had initially was friendly, and after a few minutes of us sitting and looking through the menu, we had finally been ready to order. While we were waiting however, we were CONSTANTLY swatting away small mosquitos/flies that were entering through the door (since they assigned us a table closest to it); albeit, not pleasant. Additionally, when we were ready to order, we were waiting a total of 20 minutes before we decided to leave. Now normally if thereโs a rush, Iโm pretty understanding as Iโve worked in food service for many years prior. However, there were barely any people in the restaurant as it was a late weekday night. The waiter instead spent the entire time with his coworkers and was on his phone the entire time, showing them pictures and just sharing jokes meanwhile we kept looking over to see if heโd finally come. He actually was making his way over at one point after the 20 minutes, but his coworker called him back to look at something on their phone and he walked back again.
As I mentioned, we eventually left, and unfortunately never got the opportunity to try the food. Iโve been to Black Tap before in their Midtown location (which had way better service), and never encountered any issues - thatโs definitely the location Iโd go...
ย ย ย Read moreUpdate on June 25, 2023: After writing my initial 1-star review (see below), Black Tap rectified their mistake. Once I sent a message to the email in their reply, I was then able to contact customer service with ease. My main point of contact was Angelo Pietruni, who always responded promptly, via email, phone call, and text. We were able to have a proper birthday celebration for my friend with delicious appetizers and, of course, the milk shakes!
Because of Black Tap's response in rectifying the issue, I will give this location a 5 stars for the improved service.
Yesterday (June 3, 2023) we went to the city to celebrate a friend's 18th birthday. We were planning to go to Blacktap and enjoy the iconic milkshakes, but when we arrived, the employee at the front said there was a 45 minute wait. We were expecting a wait, so no problem. We walked for 15 minutes and decided to return to Blacktap. The same employee said there was now a 1 hour and 45 minute wait and pulled up a wait list of all the people ahead of us. Prior, she told us that there was no wait list for us to reserve our spot. Despite there being no reservations at this location, there was an empty table in the restaurant that had a reserved sign right on top of it.
My friends and I were disappointed by the hypocrisy and rudeness of the employee and the wishy-washy "reservation/no reservation" policy of the restaurant. Because of the terrible service, we will not bring our business to this Blacktap or any other Blacktap for...
