Have you ever had a dish that makes you rethink its ingredients, matched with service that made you question why you don’t go somewhere more often? The experience we received at Quality Bistro last night outshined every other experience we’ve had there before and put up a hard argument for best service we’ve received as well. From Sarah at the door to our server Nelson, to the manager Ed and guest relations Jamie, everyone was kind and generous with their time, and extremely high level in their positions. We started by noting how BEAUTIFUL the venue is - our 5pm dining was accented by green indoors and out, and as the evening progressed and the sun went down, the lightning and energy of the room began to drip with colorful, vibrant tones.
We started with two vesper martinis, then moved into white wine glasses and finished with a bottle of red burgundy. All delicious. As for our meal, we knew we’d be over-ordering and the staff let us know to take it slow but we were too excited! Great hospitality once again. This is a saga of a meal. For appetizers, we ordered two caviar sliders, the yellowtail hamachi, and the spicy caesar salad (one of our all-time favorites). The sliders were buttery, as was the bread it came on, and the caviar itself was creamy and briny - perfect. For the yellowtail, Nelson rightly told us to get every flavor on the plate into each bite: raspberry sauce, olive oil, and almond slices gave perfect balance to the fatty tuna and created the perfect bite. The spicy caesar was delicious as always - sumac and lemon garnish are essential to mix into the dish. For entrees, we got the cacio e pepe to share, I took the filet surf and turf (rare temp), and my partner got the daily special of black truffle lobster toast. We also got the sunchoke pave, the brussel sprouts, and the corn brûlée sides, all of which we’ve loved before.
My filet was cooked perfectly rare, and when I tell you that the lobster croissant changed me as a person I mean it wholeheartedly. A buttery croissant stuffed with beautifully cooked lobster, and enough buttery flavor to work with both and connect the flavors in a natural way. My partner thought the lobster toast was lovely as well, perfectly cooked but it may have needed more sauce and was a tad difficult to eat. Flavor-wise, it was wonderful. For dessert, once again way too much but that’s what boxes are for! We got the salted caramel gateau, the espresso creme brûlée, and the mousse au chocolat. The brûlée and the mousse were great, but the caramel gateau was other-worldly. Rich, creamy, salty, and super addictive. I wish I’d had more room to eat it all. As we finished the evening, we both agreed that this was the best experience we’d had at QB, and we already had incredible experiences in the past. We can’t wait to come back and see the restaurant continue to succeed in everything we’ve known them to succeed at before, while improving and expanding on their classics and introducing new ideas as well. Thank you Ed, Jamie, Nelson, and Sarah for the...

Rating: ★★★☆☆
Quality Bistro promised an unforgettable culinary experience on my final night in NYC, and while the food was exceptional, certain service lapses hindered what could have been a flawless dining experience.
Upon entering the restaurant at 10 pm on a bustling Sunday night, we were promptly seated in the midst of a steady but not overwhelming crowd. The aesthetics of the place, inspired by positive Yelp reviews and captivating online images, were indeed to die for. The attention to detail in decor and ambiance reflected a thoughtful approach to creating a visually appealing dining environment.
Despite the restaurant's busy atmosphere, the noise level was surprisingly subdued, allowing for comfortable conversation without the need to raise our voices. The server approached our table promptly, demonstrating attentiveness and efficiency. The comfortable temperature further enhanced the overall dining experience.
Our culinary journey began with a decadent selection that included the French Onion Soup, Green Garlic Escargot, Whole Chilled Artichoke, Filet Bourguignon Pappardelle, Seared Diver Scallops, Charred Brussels, and The Butter Service. Each dish showcased the chef's culinary prowess, with the Butter Service emerging as a unique and delightful highlight. The French Onion Soup, in particular, stood out as a testament to the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence, setting a high standard for the rest of the meal.
Regrettably, the evening took an unfortunate turn with the introduction of a creamed corn dish recommended by our server. Despite his enthusiastic endorsement, the dish fell short of expectations, and our expression of dissatisfaction was met with an unprofessional attitude. This interaction significantly dampened the otherwise positive vibe of the evening.
Compounding the issue, the server's attempt to guess my friend's nationality, coupled with an insensitive remark about her appearance, was both unexpected and off-putting. Such behavior is regrettably out of place in a restaurant of this caliber and detracted from the overall sophistication that Quality Bistro aims to achieve.
In conclusion, Quality Bistro offers an array of exceptional dishes in a visually stunning setting. The restaurant's dedication to aesthetic appeal and culinary expertise deserves commendation. However, the unfortunate service lapses, ranging from pushing an unsatisfactory dish to inappropriate comments, tarnished what could have been an exemplary dining experience. I sincerely hope that the management addresses these issues promptly to ensure that every aspect of Quality Bistro lives up to its...
Read morefirst off this restaurant is ginormous so there shouldn’t ever been an issue with getting a table unless they’re understaffed. speaking of staff, the service here is outstanding. our server was so sweet and gave us some great recommendations throughout the meal. sometimes when we go out to eat we feel judgment from the server about how much food we order but that was not the case here! because we were celebrating he was nice enough to give us a corn crème brûlée and a dessert on the house :) for food it was mostly good but i wouldn’t saying anything was life changing. we started with the onion soup which won an award at the beginning of the year. my mom said it was the best she ever had, i think it’s the best broth of an onion soup i’ve ever had but overall i think one or two places have made it better. we also got the caviar slider and the special which was a black truffle lobster toast. the caviar slider was really good, they put a bit of smashed avocado in the slider which i liked. it’s caviar so it’s expensive but i think it is pretty fair for the amount of caviar they put on it. the lobster toast had great flavor, it had a hollandaise sauce on top which was the star. there wasn’t really any truffle flavor that i could see/detect. it was good but not something i would get again if it was on the menu. for the main we shared the surf and turf which is a 10oz filet and a 4oz lobster in a croissant. i got this for the lobster croissant. the portion was generous (normally you get 4-6oz of meat). the lobster was good but the croissant was nothing special. being that i’m not a big steak person i wasn’t blown away but it was cooked perfectly. we got the au poivre sauce which had a bit of sweetness. we also ordered 2 sides, the butternut brioche bread pudding and the pomme puree. the pomme puree was so bland so i wouldn’t recommend that. i honestly wouldn’t recommend the butternut breading pudding either, it wasn’t as bland but was very one note. we received the corn crème brûlée as a gift and it was the winner. it was sweet so if you’re not a big fan of desserts i could honestly see this being perfect as one. my only complaint is that it wasn’t watery. for desserts we ordered the salted caramel gateau and the lemon ice cream cake. neither really blew me away. the gateau had an odd bitterness and the lemon cake was good but not special. i will say that the desserts are shareable! they are very big and i think they’re a good size for the price. quality bistro was good but not the best restaurant i’ve been to. i would go back to try some other stuff and i think it’s worth a trip...
