This sort of pains me to give Brix and Brine a 3 star review, because it’s always our favorite spot in Ogonquit when we visit. We showed up in town and immediately headed down for a drink and oysters. I ordered a spicy margarita, my husband a cocktail and a dozen oysters and the crab cake appetizer. The margarita came to the table and was basically a cup of lime juice. There was nothing spicy about it and I’m not even sure if tequila was in it. We didn’t say anything, maybe that’s the way they make it. Our oysters arrived and not a single one was shucked completely. At 3/3.50 a piece I felt like an oyster bar should know that this was the case. We let a server know (politely) that none of the oysters were properly prepared. They half heartedly said they would let the shucker know. We had to dig a majority out with a knife as there was no offer to serve us new ones or correct the problem. In fact the server walker by many times as we struggled through or food. They tasted wonderful and were high quality, but it felt like a basically hospitality miss to not do a thing with such a high dollar item to remedy the situation. I’m bummed, it’s always our go to and our recommendation to others going into town to go to, but we didn’t go back again and I’m not sure we ever will. The service was also underwhelming and sort...
Read moreTraveling with our dog, we looked for Ogunquit restaurants with dog-friendly accommodations. Seeing a “Pet-Friendly” sign on the Brix + Brine menu board facing the street, we were thrilled. To ensure we’d have a table, we emailed Jake to inquire about a reservation and everything fell into place.
Dawn, the hostess we met on the previous day as we walked by the restaurant, gave us a tour of the patio dining area and suggested several tables that would be best given our situation. The following evening we were seated by Inga, the hostess, at the pre-selected table that gave the dog a little breathing room and ensured we didn’t encroach on other diners.
Our server, Dan, was terrific -- he knew the menu, recommended wines by the glass and provided enjoyable banter. Cocktails were expertly prepared and beautifully presented. If you like Negronis, you have to try the “bottled Negroni”. Truly outstanding. The buttermilk fried chicken was flavorful and moist. The salmon dish was outstanding.
Dog or no dog, we’d pick Brix + Brine as our go-to dining destination in Ogunquit. From the excellent service and delicious food to the fun vibe, you won’t find a better...
Read moreYesterday, We were looking for fried seafood in Ogunquit, ME. Holy Cow! We must of tried over seven restaurants. No celiac friendly eating establishments in this tourist area! CRAZY... We were just about to give when we decided to try one more place. Brit + Brine turned out to be the place to go for gluten free seafood, burgers, etc etc etc... The host informed us that this is a gluten free establishment. Outdoor seating was very pleasant and the waitress was very informed of celiac. I ordered fried haddock with French fries. The portion was huge! All the bread crumbs gluten free. Wonderful! Burgers served there are with gluten free buns. The waitress informed us that the staff is very aware of needs of celiacs. Anything listed on the menu is celiac friendly or can be made so. Long story short..... If you are in the Ogunquit area and craving seafood, burgers,a full bar, pleasant outdoor atmosphere... Don’t run around crazy like we did.... Go to the Brix + Brine.... Enjoy.. P.S. I don’t work there. Just a guy with Celiac that Enjoys...
