Where do I begin.
On Tuesday, September 8, I made a reservation for this hotel through Expedia online. My original reservation was for one night, Friday night, Sep 11. I chose the option where I pay when I get there.
Early Friday morning, I decided to extend my reservation to Saturday night, because I decided that I would like to stay an extra day.
So I reached out through the Expedia chat, spoke to a young lady who later called me so she could get my credit card info, and completed the transaction through chat.
She told me that she had to cancel the other reservation for only Friday night, and created a whole new one for Friday night and Saturday night. But she assured me that the Operations Manager at the hotel said that they would not charge me a cancellation fee.
I wanted to be doubly sure, so after I hung up from her, I called the Oyo hotel directly, and spoke to a man who sounded India. He was quite rude, letting me know that they did charge me a cancellation fee, and that I would need to contact Expedia to talk about getting a refund.
So, I called Expedia customer service, and spoke to another man who at first said the same thing almost verbatim that the first young lady told me, like they read it from a script. About the Operations Manager and all of that.
By this time, I can see the pending cancellation charge in my bank account, for the full amount of one night's stay. So I explain this, and he puts me on hold while he says he is calling the hotel. Then he comes back and says that the pending charge should fall off in a few days (as of now, Sunday night, Sep 13, the pending charge is still there).
So anyway, I decide to go ahead and drive to OKC, and I figured I would deal with the cancellation fee later.
Get there, and I meet a very sweet young lady at the front desk, who checks me in. Walk into the room (mind you, I had my mask on at the time), and immediately smell "stinky feet".
So I took off the mask, and I could smell that heavily scented deodorizer that they use in hotels when they are trying to cover up odors.
Well, I'm tired, so I'm trying not to worry about it.
As I walk around the room, I'm seeing stains in the carpet, but again, being the easygoing person that I would like to believe that I am, I decide not to worry about it.
Figured I would get ready for bed, so I pull back the comforter and sheets and see an unmistakable semen stain on the bottom fitted sheet! Yuck!
This is where I draw the line, so I immediately go back downstairs to the front desk and let them know.
She gives me another room, which at first glance seems to be much better. It smelled clean, no stains on the carpet, and the sheets appeared to be clean as well.
So, I sit on the bed and make a phone call. While I'm on the phone, my eyes happen to look towards the dresser, which has a cubby hole at the top. There appears to be something in the back of it, so I reach in, and it's someone's pair of pants!
So, now I'm really losing confidence in the housekeeping staff. It's appearing that a lot of things are being overlooked.
But what finally made me decide to not stay there at all was that I couldn't close the drapes.
In most hotel rooms, there are sheer curtains that let light in, and then there are usually heavier drapes that you can close at night so no one can see into the room.
But here, there was a pair of sheer curtains on the window, but the drapes were just for "show". There was no way to close them. So anyone standing outside of my hotel room at night could see right into my room.
So I got my things and went back downstairs, and told the young lady that I would not be staying. She had already charged my card for the two nights earlier.
She told me to speak to the Manager, who was also very nice. However, he explained that he was new and did not know how to process my refund. He gave me a number to call for OYO's customer service.
Google tells me I'm running out of space, so I'll just say that I called, which was more of a nightmare experience, and I still don't...
Read moreHaving found myself in a rather difficult situation as a truck driver with my Semi undergoing repairs, I am experiencing a sense of being stranded. While attempting to contact my dispatcher to arrange for a hotel, I encountered a lack of response. Subsequently, the receptionist observed my predicament in the lobby and informed me that I could not remain there unless I was a registered guest, as the lobby is reserved for guests only. She mentioned that her supervisor monitors the cameras and might inquire about my presence. I have never encountered such a situation before. I relied on an Uber to bring me here, as it seemed necessary at the time. I felt rather uncomfortable with the way she treated me, as if I were a homeless person, when I am clearly not from Oklahoma. With this experience weighing on my mind, I felt compelled to share a cautionary message: if you do not have all the necessary arrangements finalized before arriving, it would be advisable not to enter the premises. This includes avoiding being dropped off by an Uber if you lack reservations or are experiencing issues with your payment card. In such circumstances, it would be best not to enter at all. I hope you will not overlook this matter, as previous reviews have mentioned issues with the receptionist and other staff, and it appears the problem has not been resolved. If necessary, I will follow up with a review each month because this is quite frustrating, considering we all pay for a relaxing experience but are treated poorly. This is a business that we all contribute to, whether through stays or investments; I trust improvements...
Read moreWe stayed at the Holiday Inn X-Press Penn Square on April 26, 2018 and were so impressed that we just stayed 2 nights May 15 & 16 2018 again. We live in Tulsa but go to OKC fairly often, right now for medical specialists. We've stayed in a lot of hotels and this one is by far the best! Yes, you can pay a lot more in a fancy high priced hotel and get room service and have a bar and restaurant downstairs. but why? This hotel has everything you need within a 5 minute drive and some incredible restaurants within a 10 minute drive. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! First, it is extremely reasonably priced, the rooms are in great condition, the air conditioning works great, everything that you expect to be in the room is there, if you need extra towels for the pool, they are promptly delivered great facilities and a great breakfast included! I am handicapped and they have 6 handicapped parking spots close to the door with 2 of them van accessible, so we truly handicapped don't have to roll very far. Make reservations early to get a handicapped accessible room, because handicapped people who don't use wheelchairs also get them. It is a busy hotel, but it is very quiet in the rooms. Get down to breakfast first thing in the morning if you want the full selection, however you can still get a pretty good breakfast as late as 8:30, but no eggs or meat. The whole place is clean and the whole staff is friendly and helpful. We'll be staying there again in 3 weeks for my surgery followup and whenever...
