I had to update my review. In the past I had given them four stars.
They have fallen pretty hard.
The current staff constantly looks as if they were plucked from random locations on earth and dropped into this store for the first time in their lives.
Here's my experience from a week ago:
I REALLY wanted some of their chicken the so I went and stood in a long line that didn't move for 10 minutes. I figured it was just one person at the front of the line who had never been in a fried chicken restaurant before. After they finished their order, the cashier announced to all of the rest of us in line "uhh, for all yall new people, it's gonna be a wait". Apparently they were completely surprised that people showed up and ordered fried chicken. We must have caught them off guard! So that's when I left.
The next night I was again REALLY wanting chicken. So I decided to try again. We waited in line for about 10 minutes (there was one person ahead of us). My wife and I both ordered the three strip meal with red beans and rice as the side. It took them another 10 minutes before they started making our order and the only reason they started then is because I went back up to the front and asked how it was going. The kid who took my order told me it was almost ready, and then he turned around and STARTED assembling our order. The poor kid seemed as lost as he could be. He stared at the screen for a minute like our order was written in a foreign language. And even though he had also taken our order, he had to refer back to the screen several times so he could remember what to put in our boxes (if you're keeping up with this review, it was 3 chicken strips, red beans and rice and a biscuit). I was in disbelief but at the same time mildly amused that it took him a full 10 minutes to put the above items into two boxes. I can't explain how it took that long, but it really did! When he had our meals all boxed up and on a tray, just out of arms reach from me, he asked if I'd like honey for my biscuit. I said 'sure, honey and butter'.
I really shouldn't have said that.
He had the honey in his hand, but then began the quest for butter. There was none in the first cabinet he rummaged through, so he went to the next, and the next. After searching carefully in two or three cabinets in the front of the restaurant, he disappeared to the back. He was gone for several minutes while I stared longingly at my chicken, just out of arms reach all neatly placed on a tray just calling my name.
He finally found some butter and returned and gave us our order.
What all of this indicates is very poor management and training. There were at least six people walking around lost behind the counter. And yet none of them seemed to be accomplishing anything except for the manager. She was working hard, but with the methodology of a senile person. She would start doing one task, get distracted and then jump to another before finishing the last one. All the while her employees were milling around trying to read foreign languages on the order screens.
I really like Popeyes. They have the best sides and some of the best chicken available. But I'm also worried. Many of their stores have closed in recent years in areas that they should have had smashing success. In all of those places it was also the case of very poor management and training. I called the district manager last week, but as of the writing of this review, have still had no response. A new Canes just opened up the street, so I figure this place will be closed within 6 months if they don't do a quick and effective turn around.
On a side note, I went to Canes tonight as it was their opening day. Service was perfect, the place was immaculate, my order was ready before I could fill my drink cup and it was even beautifully arranged on the tray they brought it out on. That's how you...
Read moreVery rude and unfortunate experience in the drive-thru tonight (10/14 around 7:30PM). Made a mobile order in the app and when picking it up, was rudely told by a Hispanic lady over the speaker that it had already been picked up. Was told that the other person confirmed this order and showed a picture (doubtful of this because each time I pick up an order they never ask to see a confirmation) even though I also had the actual order information (and it was my order??). Was continuously berated and repeatedly told “We will not be remaking this order.” like I was a child even though through this interaction, I tried remaining respectful and even asked if there had been multiple orders with the same name or I could also show them my confirmation. Speaker went silent and she suddenly stopped talking hoping that I would leave the drive-thru. A few minutes had gone by and I was spoken to again like a new customer. I said something along the lines of how am I able to resolve this issue and was talked down to again, saying that I could “call someone” to fix it. I asked “Who do I call?” and at this point was getting frustrated that I wanted to just give up. Of course she did not respond and fell silent again hoping that I would leave. To be ignored twice got me though, so I parked my car and went inside because I guess that was the only way to have a conversation. When explaining my issue to a young man working the register, lo and behold, he was able to find that my receipt was right there in the order station and had not been worked on yet. Got my order with no issues after that besides a rotten overall experience with a lady who clearly never learned interpersonal skills in work training. What would make my night at this point is if I never saw her again. Let the record show that not once did I raise my voice, screaming for a refund or a manager. Buyer beware to anybody who places a mobile order, if they give it to the wrong person, they will NOT be remaking your order, just so that woman knows I did hear what she said for the 10th time! Please teach your employees that kindness is not as hard as some may think, and maybe I wouldn’t have wasted my time with this...
Read moreStay away from this place. Absolutely the worst Popeyes I have ever been to. I have gone a few times as Its the closest to my house but the service is terrible and the employees are so RUDE!!!! if they forget to put something in the bag (or if you got ketchup instead of hot sauce) and you go back in to get it they treat you as through it was your fault. Even after getting rid of everyone there and hiring new staff this place still sucks. I've never been to a bad Popeyes but this one is terrible. Ghetto as hell. Can't understand half the people there talking that ghetto slang. Learn to speak normally and professional before you open your mouth, if you are using the drive thru you have to make sure even a fork or spoon and ketchup is in the bag because they WILL NOT put in in there. Even if.you ask for a certain sauce they will forget to give it. Food is cold and not fresh 80% if the time. Also they are out of stuff almost daily, weather it be a sauce or shrimp or one ttime they were out of spicy chicken. What? Popeyes chicken was out of chicken. That's pretty bad. Also if you are in a hurry DO NOT go here. They are so slow and if there is more than 2 cars in front of you plan on.sitting there a good while. If the management there knew how to run a business a lot of these issues could be resolved. ORDER MORE STUFF DOUCHBAG ESPECIALLY IF YOU NOTICE YOU RUN OUT OF A PARTICULAR ITEM MORE OFTEN. I have called corporate 3 times about this location and nothing has been done to improve it. I normally drive down to the one on nw expressway as Its way better than this place with a bunch of...
