I am a customer that shares in both positive and negative reviews. In the past, I have stayed at Wyndham hotels on numerous occasions (though not in New Jersey) and was quite impressed with the service and clean rooms. I only stayed (1) night at this hotel...AND THANK GOD IT WAS NO MORE! First, on the way to the hotel, my GPS was unable to give me accurate directions. When I called the hotel for help, the manager on duty was quite abrupt with me. Instead of continuing to ask for help...I winged it. When I finally arrived, there was a couple ahead of me. They asked for a room that was non-smoking. Once they left...I stepped up to the front desk and gave my name and how many nights I would be staying. The manager-on-duty had awful customer service behaviors (not speaking clearly...would not make eye contact and sneezed in his hands and then handed me the hotel keys...which I had to disinfect). Soon after the man (from the couple before me) came back and complained that the room smelled like cigarette smoke and there were yellow stains on the sheets. The manager-on-duty gave him a new key card. I walked into my room and it had an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke (even though it was suppose to be non-smoking). I returned to the front desk and told the manager-on-duty of the problem and I wanted another room. The room I finally got was sad. It smelled stale (like the carpet had not been cleaned for a long time). There were gnats flying in the room. Thank God I did not have any food! There were also flies. The chair at the desk looked like something that had been pulled off the side of the road. I was too tired to try to get another room (and was feeling this was about as good as it got), so I stayed. When I left, another gentleman was at the front desk. He was equally rude and unprofessional. DO NOT SERVICE THIS HOTEL!! I would rather you take your chances and spend your money at a Red Roof or Holiday Inn (that are on the same street). I am not feeling if this is normal for Travel Lodge or Travel Lodge with Wyndham...but I was not impressed. I have been in contact with Wyndham's Corporate Office for over a week attempting to get a full refund of my money. Initially, the GM of the Travelodge Wyndham Parsippany offered to refund 50% of my fee. I did not accept his offer. Then Wyndham's Corporate Office offered 15,000 points towards my membership. Again, I did not accept the offer, letting them know my primary concern was to be refunded my money. Then the Corporate Office contacted me and stated I have to show proof that I paid for the room by sending them either a credit card statement or a banking statement. After that, they would still have to decide if a full refund is warranted. I AM LIVID!! Wyndham is taking the posture that I and their customers are dishonest and are trying to beat them out of money. Secondly, even after furnishing them the information THEY are requesting...they still may decide not to refund my money. TO ANYONE READING THIS REVIEW..."STAY AWAY FROM WYNDHAM!" Their refund policy is a JOKE! And they treat their customers as though we are dishonest!! My advice to anyone staying at a hotel...read the fine print on their refund policy before booking a room. I would hate for anyone to experience what I have. I have reported them to the BBB in New Jersey...to let them know of their shoddy service and hopefully to assist me with...
Read moreSo what can I say about this place....well, let's start from the outside in...literally. the location of the hotel is almost a hit or miss. If you miss the entrance, the time it takes to go up the road, come back, you might as well just keep going to another location. The appearance from the outside is not bad, the driveway is kinda weird with a steeply slanted ramp you have to drive up to get to the main lobby. Upon entering the main lobby, there's nothing special that catches your eye, very basic and less than modern layout. I will say the check-in process was not bad. I was actually quite happy with the rate I received and it put my mind at ease a little about the place.
HOWEVER, let's get to the room. So my room was on the 2nd floor, not bad, except there was only one elevator for the whole building. It was old and needed to be serviced. It was very slow. I got to my room and opened the door....was not pleased with the decor. There was a chair in the room that looked like it came from the dumpster or a garage sale. The bed looked pretty decent, a good size with comfortable firmness and the pillows were nice. The lighting in the room was very dim and old wiring lined the ceiling. The air conditioner unit was old and outdated, took forever to heat up the room. The bathroom....well as soon as I turned on the light, I immediately noticed a roach crawling alone the wall on the floor. I killed it immediately and as a show of good faith, left it there to see if room service actually comes in and cleans or if they just slap the bed back together and MAYBE replace the towels. The tub was strange as a notice advised that the tub floor was higher than the floor of the bathroom so you must watch your step. The ceiling in the bathroom was dirty and brown and the shower head looked like it hadn't been cleaned since it was put on. Needless to say, I didnt feel 100% clean after taking a shower just by looking at the shower head.
I left the next day for work, came back and to my surprise the dead roach was still on the ground. However, my bed was made and the towels were replaced. Poor housekeeping. Also, before I left for work that day, as I started to get dressed there was a tapping on the dresser next to the bed. Come to find out there was a leak coming from the ceiling. I informed management immediately. When I arrived back that evening, there was no leak but water damage can be seen by the discoloration in the paint.
Overall, the stay wasnt THAT bad. However, major improvements are needed. For a quick stay with no place else to go, you cant argue the price. But long term on a business trip or family vacation,...
Read moreIf I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. Almost immediately into entering my room I began itching and swelling with bites. I went to front desk where I was told by man that maybe I was allergic to the sheets. So I chose to use my own sheets from home.woke up the next morning with one eye completely swollen from a bug bite. And bites all over my arms ND legs my 4 children were also covered in bites. I immediately ran to front desk where I was told they would give. Me a new room that young man was nice and understanding..... After moving to new room I examined and found several dead bugs which I picked up with a tissue and took pictures (wish I could share) so I bring the tissue with the bugs in them to the desk were I was told by the same rude man that I must have bought the bugs in with my belongings because they have never in the whole hotel had a bug complaint... But I could find that very hard to believe. So after my daughter crying for 30 minutes from scratching her bites I ran to Kmart and bought insect killers repellents my service dog was also itching and I could actually see the bugs crawling on her bought her shampoo and bug repellent. Get back to the room and began disinfecting everything. As I begin spraying the bedbug spray all over the carpet I began to see cockroachs scatter. Looking for the source I love the mini fridge from the wall and they began to scatter just like roaches do... The more I sprayed the more came running out of the back of the fridge. And just FYI cockroaches BITE..... I RAN TO front desk again where a lady was very nice but told me if I could hold off until the morning they would again change my room. I then told her I would like them to remove the fridge from my room. Which they kindly did AND SAT IT RIGHT IN THE BREAKFAST AREA ON THE FLOOR ....never have I ever IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PAID FOR YOU ROOM OR THE ROOM BEING CHEAPER. BUSINESS IS BUSINESS AND THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN. THEY HAVE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES HERE BUSINESS PEOPLE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO REST THAT SHOULDN'T BE BIT BY BUGS OR HAVE A ROACH INVESTED FRIDGE NO MATTER HOW MUCH...
