Stayed here for 5 days whilst visiting the city and some old friends. I would sum our stay up as ok. The room was lovely, nice and spacious. The bed was very comfy and huge! And there was plenty of parking. It had a pool but we didn’t use it. ||I would have loved to have left more stars, however some things just let it down. First of all, there were barely any plug sockets. There was an extension lead under the bed, in the middle, with one spare socket which you had to reach for and that was it. We ended up switching the lamps, as the one on the desk you could plug your USB into the lamp, in order to get one socket for our phone. To do this, we pulled the drawers next to the bed slightly out and I have to say, it wasn’t the cleanest, another let down. I don’t know when they last cleaned behind there, but it wasn’t nice. There were lots of dead flies and dust behind it. It’s not difficult to vacuum behind some bedside drawers. Similarly, under the bed, it also looked liked it hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. This is a bit of a random one, but on our first night, the alarm clock randomly went off at midnight and we couldn’t figure out how to get it to stop, so we just unplugged it. Not ideal when you’re jet lagged. Breakfast was ok. Standard American hotel breakfast. Bagels, bread, eggs, bacon, sausage and mini pancakes. Not the warmest and our first day only had plastic cutlery, but was alright I guess. We also had an issue with someone on our floor smoking weed. One night it absolutely stunk and it came through our door. Even when we left the room the next morning, the smell in the hallway was still very strong. Really wasn’t nice. I know the hotel can’t control other guests behaviour, but it was very bad and not nice for other guests. Finally, which was probably the worst, the hot water was off for 3 out of the 5 days we were there with no complete explanation. We entered our room one day, with a letter under our door stating the water was going to be turned off at like 3pm on Monday 13th June. However, the Monday was the 12th. We then received another letter with the correct date Monday the 12th. A bit unprofessional. However, there was no reason as to why this was happening and no idea of how long it would be out for. Turns out it was 3 days!! We weren’t offered any form of compensation. I’m glad it wasn’t our first day, however neither of us like cold showers and weren’t able to shower for those 3 days in the hotel. Wasn’t nice especially as it was hot. We never received anything to tell us the water was back on. We didn’t even get an apology on check out. I get it’s a Holiday Inn and didn’t come with big expectations, but general cleanliness and hot water I think is standard. Or at least some form of communication. |If I’m being honest, I probably wouldn’t...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel the night before my cousins wedding. The phone in my hotel room started ringing off the hook between 2 and 3am. I finally answered the phone and it was a strange man asking me if I was available and wanted company. It scared me to death, but I thought maybe it was a prank from another room in the hotel. I called the front desk and asked if there were any way to trace the number he told me there was not and said its probably just someone messing with you, with that, I took the phone off the hook and lied back down. A few mins later someone was knocking on my door and jiggling the handle trying to get into my room. I called downstairs again to let the person at the front desk know this (IN TEARS AT THIS POINT!). The man at the front desk came up and when he did the person that was by my door was walking away from him very quickly allegedly stating that he was lost said he was staying in a room on the first floor (he was not!). Front desk man didn't even have the decency to call me back and let me know what happened, I had to call him back to find out. Safe to say I did not sleep for the rest of the night||The next morning I was still very shaken up and called corporate to tell them. Front desk man never logged this. They switched my rooms and assured me they'd get back to me with details after they reviewed the security footage. Again, nobody got back to me. I called and spoke to the GM that told me they had no idea who the man/men were, and was very non cholent about the whole situation. He had 3 different stories, 1. there was nobody there, 2. there was someone walking away, and 3. it doesn't show much on the cameras. When I saw the cameras for myself at the correct time of the incident there were TWO men standing in the hallway, just wandering around staring at their phones) Does anyone monitor the cameras there? Wouldn't that be a red flag? One of the men came back up to my floor numerous times!|| All in all I was fully refunded and left the hotel immediately.||My question is how did this random man/men know I was in that room alone?||Please be safe if you are traveling to Parsippany NJ and staying at the Holiday Inn, and DO...
