some items are terrific, some are just okay...
it was Garba night and almost 10. most of the restaurants get close by that time. it was recently opened so we decided to try. it was almost empty ( might be closing time). the only table which was occupied was by my colleagues ( which I got to know later on). got the table, we settled and gave our order as the waiter said, whatever we are ordering, would be our last order cause, of course, it was their closing time. we ordered Paav bhaji, Triple shezwan rice, chole bhauture (it was chana puri) and Dal tadka with Jeera rice and garlic Naan.
our order came one by one on the table. as I said, some items were really good, and some were average. Paav bhaaji was really good and so was dal tadka. I am a big fan of dal tadka. triple shezwan rice was okay, what I did not like was its chana puri. it was very blunt in taste and puri was kinda dry. the only item we left was chana puri.
coming to other things- PORTION... come on, feed me at least. whether its dal, rice or triple shezwan rice. portion size was comparatively small. SERVICE- I have seen 6-7 servers who were sitting or wrapping up. by ordering so many items, there were so many finished plates at our table but neither our server nor anyone cleared that and we managed somehow. nobody filled the water bottle again. Service was really low for me, and guess what, after check, minimum tip % on their machine was 15%. that was not acceptable. PRICE- I can get same paav bhaji/chole bhature in $6-7 at hot Breads-Sukhadia ( they are equally good) so keeping price $10 for same, doesn't make sense.
Overall okay if we ignore some...

I went to this restaurant few years back and it WAS THE best Indian restaurant in NJ, at least one of the best specially due to its Pav Bhaji, Sandwich, Pizza, and Pulav.
However, since I moved pretty far now and Parsipanny is at least hour and a half drive from my place, I stopped going. But had some issue and I go to in that area and went to Parsipanny Honest for lunch and now it jas totally gone bad. Maybe there is new management.
Food and service have turned bad no doubt. But also this -
I don't usually mind for getting mineral water for additional charge. It's actually fine and everyone, every hotel oit there does it. But all those restaurants even have an option for getting basic water.
So, even honest charging for water is fine but the issue is they also have stopped giving basic water. What is this ? Like if we want to drink water (which is a basic human tendency) pay at least one dollar or stay thirsty ?
And the bottle they give are at max 20 to 30 cents. And so that's why 1 star for this.
I mean charge for water fine but also have basic water available, restaurants are not required to FORCE us to have this mineral water alone.
So, if they started doing this, don't know what all 5hings they will start doing. So if you want to enjoy some indian food, there are a lot of options in Parsipanny alone like Dosa House, Chand Palace, sree dosa house etc.... Honest is not at all good and even their service...
Read moreNew Management is worst. Don’t waste your time and money at this location. The manager is so rude that he argued with me constantly over Jeera rice which I wanted to cancel on a take out order and their phone line was busy and they had already prepared it. Worst customer service ever! The new owner should look for new staff. Both their people at the counters who they refer as Managers have a bad attitude.
Best part was the whole restaurant was 80% vacant and there was just one family sitting with a group of 8 people and I hope they know they will soon be getting dinged and surprised with 20% gratuity they add on all bills for group of 4!! + 3.5% convenience fees for paying by Credit card. I asked the so called “Managers” to just look around and see the empty tables and he started yelling at me that its closing time and what do you expect? I told him with previous management there were people in waiting on the chairs to get a table and it was only 8:25pm on a Sunday evening and they close at 9:30!!
I used to come here very often now will go to Clifton Honest or even Edison as well as you know you will get good food and service. These guys are taking everything for granted, their food quality has deteriorated and they have jacked up the prices and surprise you with all these hidden charges in the end which no one wants to come back...
