To start with this review I will start with the booking process which was extremely easy to complete I was able to also go back and edit the days I needed with no problems. The one thing I will say is there is a difference about the "King Suite" and the "Executive King Suite". That was something I did not learn of until I got to the hotel. As for the hotel staff " AMAZING" is to say the least. Sydney for one was who we primarily spoke with which by far the best when it comes to customer service she went above and beyond to not only make our hotel stay just relaxing and as none stressful as possible but answering any questions and making sure we were happy I mean you name it she was on it. When we checked in I made the mistake of booking the King Suite wanting the Executive King Suite well no problem there Sydney took care of that we stayed in the King Suite the first night and then transfered to the Executive King Suite the following afternoon. It was so incredibly perfect. When booking we selected the add-on for the romance packge which includes Roses (on the bed and bouquet), champagne and gift certificate to the Fire Grill (the resturaunt attatched to the hotel). The only thing bad I can say about that package was we didnt get champagne but we did get a bottle of wine to our liking which was phoned to us even prior to us leaving to head to Peoria and prior to us checking in. When we got there 15 mins early we were able to check in right away and our room was clean and waiting. The hotel had ppl staying there but it was so quiet even when the resturaunt downstairs was busy it didnt bother our stay in the least. There are treats and drinks downstairs that you can either pay for by cash, credit or charge to your room which I found really convient. We also visited the pool and the gym during our stay. The pool room is warm to make up for the cooler temp of the pool but once your moving around in the water its relaxing. The only bad thing I can say in reference to the pool is there were a bunch of dead flies and bugs in the pool which you could expect from an outside pool not sure the reasoning for that but we didnt make a fuss and I'm sure if I would have thought to say something they would have easily taken care of it. As for the gym I was able to visit without anyone being in there and workout peacefully. The gym has treadmills, elipticals, bike and weights. You'll wanna bring headphones to plug in if you plan on watching the tv's on the machine but other than that I enjoyed my workout. As for housekeeping they were incredibly polite and friendly as well and you could see them very hard at work our entire stay. The hotel was extremely clean and well taken care of every aspect of our trip we had no worries. I have to say overall this was one of the best stays we have had in over a few years at a hotel. Enough cannot be said about our visit I think Holiday Inn express and Holiday Inn & Suites are both some really great hotels and there is both a difference in the hotels but both are exceptional in my opinion and one I would def not min staying at no matter the...
Read moreWe had the most unpleasant experience of staying at this IHG property on our annual migration south. We originally booked at a Hilton property that was a little out of our way because it had an onsite restaurant and was "pet friendly". We changed our mind when we looked on the IHG website and saw that the property was on our route, had an onsite restaurant and was "pet friendly". Now, to be fair, neither the Hilton nor the IHG property was pet friendly as they but charge $75.00 for one pet for one night but that is a different story. After a long drive our tired and hungry little band checked in to the IHG property only to learn that the restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday. It was Monday so our primary reason for choosing this hotel evaporated. Note, the closure is not because of some disease raging through Peoria, war or insurrection. It is the hotel's policy. Note even more, the hotel website neglects to inform travelers that the restaurant is not open on Sundays and Mondays. We looked before we booked and after we discovered it was closed when arrived. The friendly people at the front desk stated that many other travelers complained about this. Apparently management did not get the message. Just ell people you have a sometimes restaurant. Next, I have been in a few hotels that have no or poor hot water. This is the first that has no cold water. Butkus, nada. And not just us. Everyone. All the water is nicely heated. Worse, the front desk apparently had no way to summon maintenance to fix the issue. We survived but it was not a comfortable or worthwhile stay. There was never an apology, no offer of rebate, etc. What we did get was a later charge of $25.00 with neither explanation nor any discernable reason. ||This hotel has issues and travelers...
Read moreIt is great that people are getting out and enjoying baseball/softball tournaments and your hotel is enjoying the increased revenue. What I am describing in this review has occurred on several visits during 2021 so I don't view this as a one-off event, but the 'norm' for this hotel.
Every door to the hotel has a sign that states masks are required, the rule/requirement should be enforced. Arrived at hotel at 10:30 pm to find the lobby full of adults and children running with NO masks. Mentioned to front desk employee who responded -- we can't control them. If rules aren't going to be enforced, take the signs down and quit the charade and false appearances.
I also asked if a person lit a cigarette would they be asked to go outside or put it out? The employee's response was "yes." Evidently some rules are enforced and others aren't.
There is also a sign stating quiet hours are 10p to 8a. Got off elevator on 3rd floor to find adults had a small table set up and were playing cards with kids running up and down halls. Our room was 335 which was next to the elevator. In order to sleep, we turned the TV volume up to drown out the noise. There was no need calling the front desk, they weren't enforcing other rules, why enforce this one?
Suggestion - for Friday and Saturday - hire private security to monitor the hotel floors and premises for offenders. I have stayed at hotels that have done this and it significantly reduced kids running, noise, etc. and made for a more pleasant experience.
Remember -- there are other guests besides the...
