My wife and I have stayed at this property multiple times over the last 3+ years and have never had an issue. It is clean, close to the freeway, has a nice pool, etc. To our surprise, shortly after check-in on October 18th while moving our luggage from our vehicle, I happened to notice the front desk attendant, Christian, walking in a suspicious manner on the 3rd floor where our room was. He looked "out of place" and it didn't seem like he was acting "normal". I said hi to him and continued to our room.
A few minutes later I went back to our vehicle. While walking down the stairs to the parking lot, I passed the guy again. This time he was peeking through the door on the 2nd floor. I opened the door and asked him if everything was ok. He said it was. I commented it was odd that I kept running into him in the halls...that had never happened to me in a hotel before. On my way back up the stairs to our room, I again found Christian on the 3rd floor in the hallway outside our room. At this point I became agitated and asked him "why do you keep following me?" The guy looked at me and said, "do you have something to hide?" I was stunned. "What are you talking about I asked?" He went on to state his manager had seen my kids walking our dogs around the exterior of the hotel and demanded that he follow us to ensure we don't bring our dogs into the room. I explained to the guy we have kennels in our vehicle that the dogs sleep in and that we've brought our dogs with us on many other trips to the hotel and have had no problems walking them in the field adjacent to the hotel. No one had ever harrassed us before. I explained we have never attempted to bring our dogs into the hotel and felt he was crossing the acceptable line of intruding in a guest's personal space.
I then called the national office from my hotel room. The young lady who I spoke with contacted the front desk. The lady at the front desk, Julie, was very rude to their national office and refused to apologize for the hotel's behavior. No one ever followed back up with me to apologize for the way we were treated.
While my family and I have never had problems at this hotel prior to this stay, after experiencing what we did during this most recent stay, I will never go back. There is a very nice Holiday Inn Express down in Libertyville that always treats us well. We'll go there and I'd strongly recommend others do the same.
Guests shouldn't be treated the way this place treated my wife and I...under any...
Read moreI've stayed at this hotel once or twice a year for several years. Until this trip, I really liked this hotel. I'm not sure what changed, but I will avoid the hotel in the future.
The hotel was completely booked. Being completely booked should not be an issue for any hotel. The issue is that the management did not ramp up staff to handle the extra demand. We had to wait about 10 minutes to get checked in because the desk clerk was gone and left a sign that they were helping another guest.
We stayed for 2 nights. The second day we were there, we left our room just after 8am and didn't return until 4:50pm, only to find that the housekeeper had not been to our room. We were planning to take showers and leave right away, but we had no clean towels. I saw the housekeeper in the hallway and asked for clean towels and tried to let her know that we'd be gone again very quickly so she could clean our room. I say "tried" to let her know because she spoke only Spanish and I only speak a little. I got towels and we were back out of the room in less than 30 minutes, but the housekeeper was putting her cart away. I called the front desk and was told that the housekeeper was done for the day. When I complained, they brought us more towels. This is unacceptable. It was not my problem that the housekeeper didn't get to my room before 5pm.
The third reason I say that the hotel was not staffed well enough was that for the two mornings we ate breakfast, there appeared to be only one person taking care of the food. The one person we saw couldn't keep the breakfast bar stocked. There was almost always at least two of the hot items missing from the bar.
All that said, the property itself was well maintained and up to date. The furniture was in good shape, aside from the mattress in one of our rooms. If it weren't for all of the issues with the staff, I would...
Read moreWe switched to the Holiday Inn years ago for our stays when visiting our son in Kenosha,Wisconsin. On our recent stay at the Plesant Prairie for our grand daughter and grandson's graduation party we advised several other family members to book at this hotel. On our trip up to Kenosha from Cleveland, Ohio my wife became ill and as soon as we arrived in Kenosha I had to take her to the emergency room at St Catherne hospital. This was a Thursday night. They were going to admit her but let her leave to stay at the hotel as she was feeling better. However Friday night she had a setback and was sick all night long and into Saturday. which was the day of the party. My wife was too sick to attend so we decided to go back home to Ohio if she became stable .I explained to the hotel staff the issues we were having and informed them we would not be staying Saturday night as originally planned. The manager stated we had to be out of the hotel by noon or we would be charged for the night. Given the fact that we stay here every time we come to Kenosha and the fact my wife was in the hospital Thursday night I expected a bit more compassion from the manager. We left before noon and traveled back to Ohio , where I went directly to the hospital where she was adimtted. Her condition has improved and they are still performing tests on her. However this is making me reconsider our future stays when we...
