Cafe Zupas — Restaurant in Pleasant Prairie

The food here is really good!! The service is decent. And there really aren't any bad choices on the entire menu. I especially like that every meal comes with a chocolate covered strawberry-- what a fantastic touch! I've been to this location twice- once to eat in, once an online order that I picked up at the drive through window. There are three reasons I gave only 2 stars:

1. when I ordered online, the system automatically prompted me to tip. I do not tip when I have to enter my own order and fetch my own food. What exactly would I be tipping for in that scenario? I've already done all the work except actually making my own food.
2. Then, my order was wrong anyway. I ordered 1 bowl of soup for myself, and 1 "try 2" combo for my husband (which also had soup- this is important). They only gave us 1 chocolate covered strawberry, 1 roll, and they left out the soup add-ins that I was upcharged for. I can't say this is intentional because I declined to tip, but it sure seems like a big coincidence if it's not.
3. The dining room is bright, airy, and pleasant. The tables and chairs are comfortable. But it seems like the staff struggles to keep up with wiping things down. My mother and I had lunch in the restaurant at around 3pm on a Wednesday (typically a slow time for most restaurants) and most of the tables were not bussed or wiped. More importantly, the tables are too close together for a handicapped person to navigate the space. I use a walker and I was lucky to get a table right next to the register, but I was not able to get between the furniture to get to the bathrooms while I was there. It seems like a small thing, but when you can't move around a public space freely, it becomes a very big deal to you.

TLDR: the food is great, but they don't always get orders right; the dining room could be cleaner, and it's too tight for handicapped people to...

I was in town for a long weekend. My daughter and I decided to try out the new restaurant. We called and placed a carryout, the woman that took our order informed me that they only take carryouts if they are paid for over the phone. I gave her my credit card information, she then said may I put you on hold for a minute? I responded sure. Approximately 5 minutes later a man came on the phone and informed me that he had no such carryout in his system. He said I should just go to the restaurant and place my order which we did. Got to the train station to discover the order was wrong. We could not go back due to our travel plans. I got very suspicious after I thought about the whole interaction on the phone. I proceeded to put a block on my card. But someone had already used it on Walmart . Com. I called and explained the whole situation to 3 different employees at the restaurant. I finally was put in touch with a manager named Ashley who assured me she would look into this. And promised to mail me a gift card for our incorrect order. Which I have never received. BEWARE when using a credit card at this...

Updated: ordered an online drive-through pick up… Now, our third order at this location… Order was not completed until 10 minutes after the confirmed time… And again was handed an incorrect order in which I had to then bring the food inside to get corrected. Please, your food is great but now we’re three times ordering from your location and they still can’t get the order correct!

Ate here twice since they opened. First time we dined in…got the order wrong with the sandwich so had to remake it. Was told they would bring it out to the table…after 10 mins went to the counter and turns out they forgot to remake it. Took another 5 mins to get the correct sandwich.

2nd time-ordered via the app with a drive through pick up. Got home and again-same sandwich-same issue as the first time!

Food itself is really good…but when twice they cannot get the sandwich correct, they need to pay better attention to the details...
