My partner and I were so excited to do this class together for date night but were deeply disappointed with the instructor.
I have done many paint and sip classes and I have never had an instructor experience like this. She was bare minimum pleasant (it seemed like a chore for her) but really did not seem to want to be there. I'm unsure if maybe she was having a bad day or maybe she had a thing with me? I'm not sure. I found it all confusing. We were painting Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach and there was a lot of intricate detail that had to be done to paint the ocean. I asked for guidance a couple times and she just told me nondescript, unclear answers. I heard her do the same to someone else sitting by me. One of her responses was "just draw some lines, however you want". Um? It is a class! We need guidance! I ended up getting pretty lost in the process while the instructor just rushed us all. At the end she announced we were done and many of us were just sitting there scratching our heads because she didn't even finish walking us through the entire painting. There were elements missing that she didn't describe and because each step was rushed, many of us were behind.
Basically she seemed like she really didn't want to be there. After spending over $90 for this experience we ended up just getting up and leaving, also leaving our paintings behind. Like I mentioned before, I have done many of these classes and at home I have a lovely collection of some pretty great pieces that I was able to paint under the guidance of awesome instructors. I'm always excited about what new creation I'll bring home from these classes. It was so disappointing to come home with nothing from the experience. Yes, I could of brought my painting with me but it was half done and I had no idea how to finish it in a way that would be aesthetically pleasing because my teacher couldn't be bothered to fully teach.
We definitely will not be returning to this...
Read moreMy husband drove me over an hour to this painting class today. My phone only works when I have wifi, and so I did not receive the call that the instructor made only 50-something minutes prior to my class time, (because we had already left the house) in which she canceled the class because I was the only one who signed up for the class. (Clearly she knew in advance that I was the only one signed up, so she should have called me long before that to cancel!) She told me when I walked in that she additionally emailed me the night before but I checked both my email addresses including my spam filters and I received no emails from Bottle and Botega. She offered me a refund, which I accepted, but that really does nothing for my over 2 hours round-trip drive that I made, that she knew I should not have been making, long before today. She alternatively offered instead of a refund, for me to paint a different painting using their online classes, but if I felt strong enough in my painting skills to paint using an online tutorial, I would paint for free using a Youtube painting tutorial, not spend $40 on it, and additionally, the painting I signed up to paint today was not offered online. This was going to be a birthday present for my mom next week. I am very disappointed. Would...
Read moreWe had a great time painting a Van Gogh inspired starry night sky with Pacific NW trees! Our instructor was Love and she did a great job at explaining, demonstrating the techniques, and then coming around to help us. Love was also the bartender and did great with keeping people refilled on their drinks. We will definitely be back to paint here again!
Edit July 3024: We came back to paint a vineyard & mountain scene. Our teacher this time was not as good. She didn't take time to explain crucial steps and our paintings did not turn out as well because of it. I had trouble keeping up with her instructions and I kept running out of paint because she didn't tell us how much of each color to use when mixing paints. Still, it was a mostly...
