Update - I gave them another chance recently, and the problem appears to have been fixed; the raised donuts are soft and airy, very fresh. The glaze and frosting are no longer hard, stale, and crusty. It tastes even better than my romanticized memory of Sesame Donuts. And they either stopped craking out donuts at night, or they just keep that door closed now so you can't see them stockpiling. Either way, you should stop by and try a donut or two if you are in the area, because they appear to be serving them up fresh.
Lately, I have been visiting this location in the early evening and, unfortunately, the quality has really gone downhill. The donuts used to be so fresh, and delicious, and the variety of choices was out of this world! Nowadays, the donuts are quite clearly old and stale. The glaze is hard and crumbly, and the ones with custard have been sitting around so long that the moisture has spread throught out the donut and made it soggy inside. I was dumfounded as to how the quality could have gotten so poor, but then I noticed something; every time I visit this location around 6pm or later, the shelves are almost empty, but the employees are in the back, cranking out racks and racks of donuts. Why are you making so many donuts at 6pm when you close at 8pm? And why do the employees refuse to serve any of those fresh donuts from the back? I'll tell you why. Because they are too lazy to come in at 5am to make donuts, so they make them the night before and serve up the overnight donuts the next day. I'm sorry, but this is shameless and completely unacceptable. I have been eating these donuts for probably 15 years, but I will never visit this location again, unless someone gets them to start making fresh donuts daily. If I want garbage donuts, I can just go to Safeway and get that rubbish for half the price. Stay away from this location. There is a Coco Donuts on PSU campus, where the donuts are fresh, much tastier, and cost only 40 or...
Read moreWe've been coming to this Sesame Donuts location for over a year in the weekends because it's close to where we live. We love the quality of the donuts and my husband REALLY loves the white chocolate mochas he orders here.
My complaint is the woman who works here in weekend mornings. She has zero skills for handling pressure when the place gets busy. We've witnessed her snap at customers in the following scenarios:
When they place large orders (such as for a group and one person pays for multiple people).
When someone attempts to order donuts that don't qualify for the combo deals (I do blame management for not doing a better job of labeling the "big" donuts vs the "small" donuts).
When there's a line of peopl and she clearly gets panicked and flustered.
When it's not busy and someone takes too long to order.
When she just seems to be having a bad day.
For a while, it seemed like she was doing a better job of serving customers politely and I figured someone had spoken to her. But today, we saw the same behavior that made us question whether or not we wanted to continue coming here anymore. And that's a shame because the food and drink are very good, but it's getting tiresome seeing someone in a service job who doesn't appear to be suited for it.
While I don't wish anyone to be unemployed in THIS economy, I wonder if there another job within the shop she can be moved to that's a better fit for her. Customer...
Read moreI've been going to this location for over a year now. Staff is pleasant usually. One thing I've noticed recently is that when they put the donuts in the bag, they don't wash their hands, wear gloves or use tongs.
They will cash other people out on the register and then put their hands in the bag that the donuts go in. That's neither sanitary or up to the health code. They could be reported to the health department.
Finally after seeing the staff doing this many many times I finally spoke up, very nicely! One lady now refuses to serve me and another employee helped me today and I let know to please wash his hands, use a tong or gloves.
He put on gloves. I told him I wasn't trying to be rude and I apologized to the guy today. He was kind. Jobber the delivery driver named Cameron was not so kind. He kept looking at me and told me "you could be nicer He works hard" talking about the employee I spoke with. He said that as a representative of Seasame donuts and ran out of the store and didn't listen to my response.
First of all he was on the clock and ride to a customer. Secondly that was very unprofessional.
I have a right to have the food I pay for and eat to be handled in a sanitary way.
I spoke with the guy behind the counter what Cameron said and i needed the bosses info. He gave me Cameron's name and his bosses info. I called and left a message for the boss. I hope i hear...
