I recently visited Portland, Oregon (August 2023) for the first time with my best friend, as we had flown in from the UK for a holiday (vacation). While exploring the city, we noticed that there weren't many shops around our area. After some walking, we found this store and decided to give it a try since most other shops were a few blocks away.
Our experience at the store had its ups and downs.
Cons: Payment Issues: On our first visit, we used a debit card with contactless payment without any problems. However, on subsequent visits, I was told I had to use a credit card instead. This inconsistency was frustrating and inconvenient. Grumpy Cashier: There was an older-looking cashier who seemed perpetually grumpy. His demeanor made us feel unwelcome, almost as if he didn't want to be there serving customers. A smile and a friendly attitude can make a big difference in customer service, and unfortunately, this cashier didn't provide that.
Pros: Despite these issues, we had some positive interactions as well. Other cashiers who were a similar age to myself and my friend were significantly friendlier and more approachable. Their cheerful attitudes and willingness to help made our shopping experience much better.
Overall, the store has potential with its friendly younger staff, but it could definitely improve in terms of consistency in payment methods...
Read moreI appreciate that this place exists because it's closer to where I live than any grocery stores so it can be nice for picking up one item that I need (I'm a baker and recipe developer and often run out of flour and stuff). I've also had problems picking up UPS packages here (they forgot a letter in my name when they recorded it and insisted it wasn't me, and also got really rude and argued when I said I "was picking up an Amazon package" because "we're not Amazon!!"). I also once bought a head of garlic from their produce section that, when I got home and cut into it, was completely dust and mold. And they've recently stopped wearing masks altogether and when they do on occasion, they have it pulled under their...
Read moreThe cashier never handed me my cigarettes. He said he did and wouldn’t even look for them. Like the dude is just standing there, w It’s his arms crossed saying, “you must have lost them. I handed them to you.” I am pleading to h in to just simply look around and that I wasn’t scamming them. Anyway I call in a few days later after they have looked at the security footage and the owners voice is absolutely “oh no, I f#%^#% up” he was nice of course. I still need to go get my free cigarette as I am getting a refund. The reason it is 1 star is not because of the mess up. The owner was very gracious but it’s 1 star because the cashiers childish attitude and disrespect towards me when in actuality he made the mistake. I hope he’s working...
