A hotel set on a golf course should be luxurious with clean rooms, attentive staff, and delicious food, but that is not the case at the Marriott Prattville Hotel and Conference center. My husband and I stayed in a room on the first floor with a king sized bed. The bed was not that comfortable and we were awakened at 4 AM by a sprinkler hitting either a chair or a pot outside. The water cooler in the exercise facility was empty and there were three other empty blue water 5 gallon containers on the floor. I went to the front desk and interrupted the employee from her magazine asking for a replacement water jug. About 7 minutes later a man carried away the empty jugs but did not come back with a refill. He did hand me a cold bottle of water, which I greatly appreciated. For breakfast, my husband, mother and I went to the dining room. We entered and told the hostess we needed seating. She said nothing, grabbed menus, so, we followed her. She went to a large table and placed the menus on it. When she looked up, she seemed surprised we followed her. She pointed to a table for four and asked if that was ok. We said it was and sat down. We had no menus. We were pressed for time so just decided on the buffet. Mom and I went to get our food and came back to the table expecting coffee. We asked the hostess to tell our waitress to bring coffee. Mom and I sat down to no beverages and my husband went to get his food. When he sat down, still no coffee. I got up and asked the first employee that I saw if she could bring a carafe of coffee to our table and some cream. The service was extremely poor. The dining room was 1/4 full, but the employees did not want to do their jobs at all. The food was sub par. The scrambled eggs were ok. There were no low fat breakfast meat options. The potatoes were not hot. There was no fresh fruit, only canned fruit in serving bowls with the cellophane partially pulled back, telling me the fruit is being recycled. The coffee was really good--It just took too long to get it. The breakfast was the same price point we paid three weeks ago for the buffet in Honolulu, but with no fresh fruit, less than half the variety of foods, and significantly poorer quality. After dinner that evening we visited the bar for a drink. The live music was nice, but too loud to really have a conversation. Jasmine, the bartender was friendly and timely and we were happy with...
Read moreEdit 7/21: Since work took me back out to this area, I tried giving this Marriott another shot and was sadly more disappointed. Toilet seat in this room (108) was also broken and there were hairs on several pillow cases. Thankfully two were clean and since I had come in very late that evening I didn’t bother trying to tell them at that point and deal with trying to change rooms or linens. However the biggest issue was this time the bathroom door was completely broken - it wouldn’t shut all the way without jamming it in and then took two hands and several tries to yank it back open. I immediately messaged the front desk and the best suggestion/offer they had was to “send an engineer” to check it out…at 10:30 at night. I told them no not at that hour, and all they said was ok we’ll send someone in the morning. No apology, no offer to switch to another room. I know it was late, but it was literally right after I had checked in and as someone who was traveling alone, it’s really disconcerting to not be able to lock the bathroom door while showering…Marriott you seriously need to look at updating this place or at the least improving the customer service.
Original: This place has all the workings and potential to be a great hotel, in house restaurant, beautiful golf course/scenery, big rooms, etc. However, I was definitely disappointed by the upkeep of the room (room 122) and by some of my staff interactions. The shower curtain was completely moldy on the inside, the toilet seat slightly loose so it would slide around, the fridge hadn’t been cleaned out (as evident by a water bottle and massive stain left inside), the bed definitely needs replacing as it felt lumpy and old, and the AC didn’t really work as well as one would hope (had to blast it at its minimum setting 65F for it to get even slightly cool overnight). The staff overall were fairly friendly, just very slow and seemingly unconcerned by any guest issues. My last day there, the power went out due to a tropical storm (which I absolutely don’t blame them for and they got it back up within an hour), but I was a bit surprised that no apology or information was provided about it. I had to even ask if it was just my room or the whole hotel at first because no one informed me when I woke up with no AC/lights. Definitely overall it’s a decent place, but for the price you pay and the potential it has, I would’ve expected a...
Read moreI am writing this review about a stay in May of this year where there were numerous cleaning issues with my room including a partially used mouthwash left with the other new toiletry items, clumps of hair in the shower, and what looked to be waste from someone's nose on the mirror. I told the front desk and showed them pictures and they said a new housekeeper had been working and seems to need better supervision. A manager called me later and offered to reimburse my stay or add 25,000 points to my account for the troubles. I chose the points. I called today to let them know points have never been added and a male manager acted like I was trying to con them and offered 5000 points which would come no where close to a nights stay. I told him to keep his points because I don't have to have them. I am a Marriott Gold member but with an experience like this will most likely not hold that title long. Customer Service is a dying art. I was planning a family event here in the fall but we will find another place to stay.
I have to change my rating because o did receive a call back from this property manager saying he spoke with the manager I dealt with and she confirmed that they had offered me the points and that they are not sure why they were not added but they have been now. He was very pleasant and apologized for the entire issue. This is great because I have had such great stays in the past and didn't want this one to cause me to seek other accommodations...
