All four stars are for the waitress, Andrea. She was amazing for being a new wait-person. The food regrettably is starting to take on a commercial cookie cutter flavor and appearance like most other conglomerate owned food establishments. I miss the days when The Quars (spelling) owned the El Chico's chain, it was a sad day to hear they sold it! While reasonably flavorful, the cheese enchiladas that were with my top-shelf cheese and Fajita enchilada dinner, was not even relaxed. When I cut into it, you could see where it was basically a cheddar cheese stick inside of the factory rolled and pressed tortillas. The fajita meat was evenly cubed sliced as if it were from some type of packaged meat; it definitely was not from fresh cooked skirt steak. My wife enjoyed her chicken and mushroom sour cream chicken enchiladas, and let's be honest it's really hard to screw up the cream sauce for that it's basically chicken broth and sour cream, LOL. One positive note was the white queso, was very good it was not overly season and had a nice cheesy flavor, for a packaged product. The only highlights of the evening for me were the waitress and the apple pie with vanilla bean ice cream and whatever that buttery beautiful drizzle was that caramelized when it hit the hot metal skillet. It was delicious! We did have a short discussion on whether to get that or the...
Read moreFirstly, I must laud our wonderful server, K.K.. She was adept, timely, knowledgeable, and personable. I firmly believe that successful work in a service role that requires constant contact with the public is possible for only a rare individual who possesses both an engaging personality and copious patience along with a sharp memory and intuitive sense of timing. K.K. demonstrated each of those skills. She appeared exactly when needed, was very personable, got my (admittedly-complicated) order exactly right, and made it seem to us that we might have been her only table. That's a difficult achievement but she did it with aplomb.
As for the food, it was excellent. From the texture of the tortilla chips, the spice and consistency of the salsa, the perfection of the top-shelf guacamole, the perfect meat-to-masa ratio on my tamales, and the ideal black beans, to the bite of the jalapeño margarita and the perfect sweetness of the tea, every item was great!
I'll be looking forward to returning. I'll be asking to be seated in K.K.'s section, even if I need to wait a bit. My thanks to all the staff—it takes teamwork to create such smooth service and you all did...
Read moreMe and my family were there for lunch today after church. I couldn't believe what I was hearing from the manager/owner. I noticed a young child being a little loud. No big deal. Then I noticed a man that was a customer yelling at a lady who appeared to be the childs mother saying she should take her loud baby to Mcdonalds. Keep in mind this is El Chico not a high class quiet restaurant. So I'm guessing the mother complained to the manager about the other customers foul words. I'm not sure why but I'm guessing. Then to the point my young children and other young children could hear the manager loudly say " Get the F word out of here" to the mother that was already fouly talked to in front of children. I couldn't possibly imagine what took place for this manager to say what he did but it's not really my business. What is my business is that this manager used anger and profanity in front of my young children and other young children at lunch after church. That is unacceptable, unprofessional, foul and he should be held responsible for his actions. We and anyone I know will never frequent this El Chico ever again. I will make...
