Definitely not a place that I will stay again! Let me just get that out of the way first. it was a cheap stay and I am regretting it. From the lack of communication regarding the airport shuttle to the rude behavior of the staff on the phone to another customer(while I stood there) the service here is questionable at best. I suppose, anytime that you see handwritten notes throughout an establishment stating TIPS ARE APPRECIATED, one can believe that the staff is not paid enough or something like that. There were signs in the shuttle (nearly every flat surface), in the lobby, in the restaurant, and at the counter for breakfast (even a large tip vase there). I came in closer to the evening time and was told the the restaurant opened at 5, so I went onto my room. I had to ask twice where the elevator was located, as the first time I could not hear the desk person. I was told go right then left, but no indication of how far or anything. There are very few signs and those in that are up, do not give very good information. I will also pause here to state that the hotel is undergoing several renovations, which are sorely needed. I found stairs (as I gave up on the elevator search) to the second floor. Along the way, I passed several rags outside of room doors (pictured). This was not just one or two but at least a dozen that I passed through 3 hallways. I found several areas of what looked to be mold near doors, windows and even a fire alarm pull station (pictured). I also noticed several windows that are in need of replacement int he atrium area. These are either cracked and have seal issues. When I finally found my room, I thought it would get better. It did not. I walked in and the door slammed behind me, as I noticed that ALL doors seem to slam in he hotel. (no soft closures anywhere). I came into find the ac was on some power saving setting and the vanes were broken. I went to put my shaving kit in the bathroom and noticed the mirror was in bad shape, the electrical concerns and the tub sealing situation. The lighting is very dim and the fixture is not straight. I thought, well I am glad that its only one night. When I went to charge my laptop, then I noticed the next receptacle was also damaged and the screw was backed out. Overall, there are mismatched covers and holes around all of the receptacles. After I managed to find a safe way to charge devices, I went to shower. The shower valved is plumbed in reverse, hot is cold etc. The water pressure is great, but no "sweet spot" for temp, either very hot or almost cold. The tub is not sealed very well (see pics). Once the time had passed that the restaurant was open, I went down (through all the slamming doors) and even found the elevator, which I did not even think about trying. The restaurant doors were open and 5 people at the bar....no staff to be seen. Only signage tells that they are short staffed and respect those that did show up. I waited for a few moments and was finally greeted by a nice hostess that took my order. The wait time was reasonable and the food was hot and very tasty. My issue is that it i s served only to go an even if you choose to sit in the restaurant, its all plastic and styrofoam. The bed is rather firm and had adequate pillows. The ac struggled to get the room cool. Between the repetition of door slams throughout the corridor, the jets overhead and the ac, it was not a great restful night. In the morning, as you can see from the pictures (coffee pot fiasco and breakfast joke) the morning was not much better. In summary, I write this to warn fellow travelers and to inform the management of the location. Travelers, there are many choices nearby, choose wisely and avoid this place. Owner of the property, make. visit to the place as a guest. If you are one of the folks that I interacted with while on site, shame on you. Thats not...
Read moreI was very disappointed in my experience at this hotel. First off, I booked a night here for family members who were flying in from LA, owing to the forest fire issues. When I arrived, I was drawn to the aesthetic of the atrium with beautiful plants, and I thought it would be a quality hotel, especially since the price was somewhat higher than other hotels that I had chosen against. The room I was given was in a corridor off of the atrium, and it was another story altogether. The long hallway adjacent to the rooms was one long wall of windows, designed to be wide open, yet the heat along the hallway was broken, and probably hadnât seen any maintenance for years. That said, when getting into the room, I found it freezing. I turned on the old heater in the room, and went to the bar to grab a drink and some dinner. After arriving from the bar, the room was still fairly cold, so I went to the front desk to request a new room. The front desk told me that that couldnât change rooms unless the heater was broken, and the sent a maintenance guy out to look at the heater. The maintenance guy changed the batteries (which had nothing to do with the actual functioning of the heater) and said the heater should heat up. About an hour later, I went to the front desk and asked for a refund. I wanted my room at a comfortable temperature, and with the facilities of the hotel, it just wasnât getting there. The person at the front desk gave me a card of the person I could âemailâ for a refund, and after telling her that I doubted that this was an actual method of obtaining a refund, because she said Iâd hear back only within 24 hours, she said that she wasnât allowed to grant refunds. I was so disappointed that when I went to Meijer to buy necessary items, I picked up a thermometer to post a picture of the temperature along with this review. I had reached out to the email requesting a refund, and heard nothing back. During the stay in the review, the temperature of the hallway was around 40 degrees, which honestly seems like a building code violation. (I could honestly see my breath.) The room took a couple hours to heat up, and when it finally heated up, the back part of the room, near the bathroom, was about 60 degrees. Additionally, the hotel had a number of negligent aspects, including the cable wire, rather than being wired into the wall, just running along the floor. There was no light above or near the sitting chair next to the bed, which made reading or doing any kind of work there impossible. The room had been remodeled at some point because the light switch built into the doorframe was not connected to anything. Finally, sleeping was difficult because the curtains of the wall of windows in the room didnât actually stretch enough to block out all the light. I feel that this hotel was probably just trying to turn what little profit they could out of an outdated building, and they were instructed to keep costs down by whatever means possible, including not accommodating guests when it comes to their poor accommodations. The Bayview hotel across the street was a much better experience, and I will never be returning here. As an aside, I was very put off with the quality of the American flag out front, which had been clearly neglected (see photo.) I am so disappointed and hope that no one else makes the same mistake I did by...
Read moreMy father is high up in Delta, and I always used to stay at this hotel for fun as a little girl.. It was my favorite hotel by far. Ever since theyve gotten new management through Wyndham Gardens theyâve turned extremely racist. I suffer from severe Epilepsy, which requires me to have a service dog with me at all times.. in which one of those times my service dog has stayed there with me. Today, I woke up and had to take my medication before I could begin day to day activities.. such as taking my service dog outside to go to the bathroom. Therefore, I did not enter the lobby with my husband and service animal in time to catch the discrimination/racism on video.
My husband is of color. Without even a welcome, the front desk lady said to himâWe donât have any rooms available.â As to which he replied, âWe booked online, we have our itinerary #.â Barely allowing him to finish his sentence, she added âWell even if so, no pets allowed!â When she told my husband no pets, he replied âThis is my families service animal, she will be servicing my wife during our stay.â There was no pleasing this woman. My service dogs papers werenât good enough, our booking number, Wyndham points, credit cards & cash. My husbandâs intellectual capabilities and expeditious due diligence were immediately disregarded and dismissed the moment he walked in those doors. The color of his skin disqualified him from humanitarian assistance, hospitality, and even common courtesy⌠He was denied reservations due to discrimination & racism.
When I called to speak to a manager, the Caucasian lady at the desk claimed there wasnât one available. She didnât stop there, she went above and beyond to call the hotel we were staying at next door. Without a reasoning, she told the woman at the front desk not to allow us to extended our room. The lady at the front desk of the hotel we had been staying at for only 48 hours told her we had been wonderful guests. That we came with all of our service dogs paperwork, we were clean, quiet, friendly and respectful. I believe the lady at the Wyndham knew her discriminatory behavior was going to be reported to a higher authority and she quickly decided to cover her own tracks with false accusations against him. The quickest way to do that was to make a call to the hotel next door in which allegedly has the same management, and ban us from each hotel. Keep in mind, I was given back my deposit. So what other than racism and discrimination, was the real reason why no accountability was taken today? Why no repercussions or reasonable explanation was given to us. Itâs incredibly heartbreaking to see what my husband has to face on a day to day basis due to his brown skin. I am very disgusted, angry, and appalled at Wyndham Gardens for their refusal to service People Of Color. And I pray that no other guest has to endure such injustice. This hotel has no interest in investigating their prejudice employees because they wonât even hear out the victims.
God...
