I was going to give them a 4 1/2 to 5 star but I left one of my favorite short sleeve summer 👕 shirts in the closet and when I asked if it could be shipped back to New Smyrna Beach ( a little too far to drive to get just one item) you would have thought I'd asked them to send back my mountain climbing equipment from Tim Buck Two.
Heidi was great as the main host and server. She has an authentic smile abs truly loves and is great at her job. She made us feel special. But her manager is a different story and her evasiveness and unwillingness to help me get my shirt shipped back came through loud and clear. First of all it's a synthetic shirt and very light. When I asked how much it would cost to ship i was given a confusing answer of " anywhere from 5 to 15 dollars". I kind of balked and explained it was very light and just had to be thrown in an Amazon-type padded plastic envelope and simply mailed as slow as possible. The manager, clearly not interested in helping me get it back blamed it on the shipping company they use. I thought it was somewhat interesting that she couldn't make an exception and just mail it to me as a favor. Apparently, it wasn't important to her. The snacks are good, especially the cookies which are either homemade or from a local bakery. There are nutritious snacks that Heidi thoughtfully prepared and pretty much whatever wine or beer you could enjoy with your late afternoon snacks. Breakfast was made to order and was very good. Heidi shined again. If I was just rating her only, she would get 5 stars. There isn't any nearby parking unless you want to pay for parking on the public street in front. When you get there. It's a bit confusing because you have to unload in the alley in the back. If there are other cars there it won't be easy to maneuver. We accidentally went to another place that had a similar name but actually had a lot of real parking ( although it wasn't a B&B). The map given to me was very confusing to drive to their parking lot which is about a half-mile walk away. Instead of simply giving you the address of the business that is right next to the lot,( so you could plug it into Waze or Google maps), a hand drawn strip map" was given to us, and one of the major North - South streets is almost nameless because whoever drew up the map (maybe the manager) hand wrote the name too dark and it's almost illegible and invisible to the eye on the copy given. Then once I finally found the lot after 20 minutes or so ( mostly by trial and error and not by helpful instructions) I didn't find any spots with signs specifically for this establishment. So I had to call Heidi ( who was very helpful) and then she said to use any empty spot on the same lot even though it had a different establishment sign. Apparently, they share the lot. That would have been helpful information to know before I embarked on the journey or added to the strip map. The walk back is a pretty one and you meander through very old, quaint, and small streets. Takes about 12-15 minutes to walk back if you aren't in a hurry. No big deal unless you don't like walking, it's really hot and humid, or if it's raining . The room was small but nicely decorated. The bathroom was cozy and the 🚿 shower was well designed stylish and probably the best feature. The beds were firm and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay overall, but the nonchalant and uncaring tone of the manager with my very light shirt that should have cost less than 5 bucks to ship left a bad impression and I will not...
Read moreI wanted to go to St. Augustine since I was in 4th grade when I fell ill and couldn't attend the school trip so when I finally went the day after Thanksgiving, it had to be worth the 30 year wait. I searched high and low for the perfect spot to stay at. I've never stay at a Bed and Breakfast before. I usually rent a house to have for me and my family to have the comforts of home and our own space so a B&B wasn't at the top of my list. But something kept pulling me back to the Bayfront Westcott House. I finally decided to at least call. I spoke with Lisa. What a doll. She listened to everything I had to say and responded honestly. I booked my 10 year anniversary that night. Before we arrived, the Westcott team arranged our trolley ride, personal requests, and massages. Me and my husband were blow away by the properties location-right across from the bay and walking distance to the historic district and many other local attractions. St. Augustine itself is a gem but so is the Bayfront Westcott House! It left nothing to be desired. We stayed in the Victoria. The room was charming. The bed was comfortable. The copper tub was luxurious. The private terrace was romantic and scenic.
The food..oh my..the food. It was so delicious! 5 star! The presentation alone... it was almost too beautiful to eat.
Our massages were so relaxing and done right in our room. My husband hates massages but loved the ladies who came.
The team. More like the A Team. Wow! First, the process of booking was flawless but I was so impressed by how they communicated before arrival, during the stay, and after departure. They checked in consistently making sure we never longed for anything. I'm not sure how they don't have a perfect rating because they do everything to make you happy. My husband loved the robes in the room so after we left I called and asked for one. I received it in the mail a few days later.
Another great big thank you- it truly was the best stay and trip of my life. Little did the team know, my husband and I were returning home to begin a scary journey due to an unexpected health crisis. This trip gave us more than memories. It gave us the calm we needed before the storm, the recharge to our minds and bodies, and put our souls at ease. God bless...
Read moreIf you're looking for the best bed and breakfast experience in St Augustine stay at the Bayfront Westcott House. After staying at several 5-star hotels and resorts they do not compare to the service you will receive at the Westcott House. I made the travel arrangements and plans to propose over Labor Day weekend. Due to the hurricane, I was unable to propose on the sailboat and was looking for other options. I had never visited St Augustine and had 48 hours to plan the perfect proposal since her family and mine had already booked flights. Mrs Joy (Westcott House owner) and the staff went to work suggesting several options and making every detail to include her favorite wine, chocolate, and champagne romantic and personal. They provided our own private balcony overlooking the bay and escorted the families and photographer (without her knowledge) to the balcony at the exact minute of the proposal. The staff bent over backwards to provide our every request and did it with a smile. Even though the weather changed my proposal...Mrs Joy and the staff honestly made the proposal even more perfect and unforgettable than I could've imagined. If you're looking to propose or just a romantic quiet getaway you have to stay at the Westcott House. Thank you guys for making the engagement absolutely perfect for Nicole and I. You're the most professional and provide the most selfless service we have...
