Overall we had a good time. Wallie and Martha were great drivers. Unfortunately, I agreed to a 15 minute survey and paid $20 for them to come to our room... we were not told both my spouse and I had to be present to answer a couple quick questions, when we met up the next day 15 minutes turned into over an hour along with being told indirectly that we need to change our loan once again. After polity letting the member know multiple times we were not going to do anything, seems how we get no updates, have no one (and will never have anyone unless we pour in more money) assigned to assist us, always end up being told it looks like we were “overlooked” but because of our situation they should make an exception to still give us the great deal. After requesting the only assistance being to upgrade one of our Wyndham credit cards the following day, I went downstairs to meet the member... after 13 minutes of waiting after our appointment time, I reached out to him and told him I was going back to my room, he asked if anyone helped me (um no, I was specifically waiting on you seems how we had an appointment and even confirmed earlier in the morning). I received a phone call just to be told someone else would be calling in regards to helping with getting our military orders turned in to lower our interest rate, Cody was very rude and demeaning, after thanking him for his time after being told Wyndham would not help us out at all, I hung up, never to hear back from the first member, never to receive my $20 back, nor my guaranteed gift card, nor the time taken away from my family and vacation. Being told that this resort only makes money off of valet parking and raising maintenance fees was not something that should be shared to members or potential members. Being told that if we want to stay where we are at (owning here) and throwing away our money then good for us but he would start all over and get the loan through someone other than Wyndham cause they are super high in rates is not something that should be told to members or potential members. Being told that after 10 years doing it his way we will have no maintenance fees ever again, (and then when called out on the reality of that statement he got very defensive) is something that should not be told to members or potential members. Not receiving a return call, follow up, action requested and told I would receive, an acceptance of our answer on where we stand with our loan, anything special or above the norm for being loyal VIP members for over 13 years has made this trip frustrating. On another positive note, Tay and Joey were great at the front desk, other that real lose door handles in the rooms and on tub, we had no complaints on our room or the...
Read moreA few months ago, I reserved two rooms here, one for my wife and I and the other for two of my sons and one of my grandsons. We were staying just three days to look at a few properties that my wife and I were interested in seeing throughout the local area. We flew into San Antonio Texas on Wednesday October 22nd. On the drive from the Airport to the resort I received a message from the booking agency used by the resort stating that there was a problem with the reservation and that they would no longer be able to accommodate us. Instead, they wanted to place us in another hotel. I decided that I wanted to handle this dilemma in person, so we continued on to the resort. When we arrived at the front desk of the resort, we were told that the resort was actually a time share, something not made clear to us when we booked our stay in, and the owner of one of the suites that we had booked was exercising his or her right to bump us out and claim their suite. The option that we were given was to keep the other suite and book a second suite in another hotel as there were no other accommodations available in the resort. So, they wanted to split my family into two separate hotels. I called American Express Platinum immediately and was refunded my charges immediately, Yes! It took American Express to get involved for me to get my money back immediately. If I had to guess, what was really going on was that they hiked up their prices when they found out that the city decided months later, after I booked our stay, that they were going to host a huge city festival in celebration of Dia De Los Muertos. So why let us stay at the prices that I paid months ago versus making more from tourists that were now flooding the hotels in the area to attend the festival. Traveler beware. This resort does not honor your accommodations no matter how far in advance you booked. They show no shame in splitting your party into two hotels versus allowing you to bend their no refund policy and returning your money, even when the problem stems from them. So here's a response that I received from the resort: Response from the owner 7 hours ago Thank you for sharing your detailed review about our property. We understand we have missed the mark here and hope to improve going forward. Reviews such as this help bring our areas in need of improvement to light. Wow! An automated response. Where's the apology? At least this response shows exactly what I wrote in my review. Lack of care for the customer, only concern for their...
Read moreStart off by knowing this is a timeshare. We are Wyndham owners and have been time share owners for over 20 years. You can always say no to the owner update (if you are an owner) or to the sales presentation if you are new. They will pressure you into going, and depending on the situation you may be "required" to go, but just be firm if you are not interested in purchasing. I went to the owner update to get the valet parking for free and it was not high pressure, unlike some other ones I have been to. The staff was cordial and respectful of my families time.
Now the resort/hotel/condo itself is what I rated here as 5 stars. I give the location a 4 because it could be closer to the main riverwalk area and it would be way more convenient for walking in the hot summers. As it is there is a free shuttle service provided, but it stops at 5 pm so you can't use it after going to dinner or to the bars. While we were there a dinner/night time uber from the riverwalk was about $7.50 and scooters would be about the same. There is valet parking with unlimited in-out privileges, but driving to the riverwalk to then pay $10-$25 to park a little closer is a waste. The part of the river it is on and the grounds are beautiful though, just not quite as convenient as it would be if it was 1 or 2 blocks farther north on the river.
The accommodations were just above average for a Wyndham. We had a 2 bedroom presidential which had a king bed master suite, a double queen room, a second full bathroom, living room with pullout couch, and a nice kitchen and dining area. The presidential distinction means we got a balcony with a river and downtown view and possibly a slightly larger living area. We had no complaints with the room, but it is also not as new as some other Wyndhams. Not old either so it works great.
The staff (not counting the sales/owner update) was always super friendly and they had special refreshments or food available almost every day we were there. We visited the other Wyndham timeshare that is right on the riverwalk and it smelled terrible outside the front door and the staff ignored us and even gave us some strange looks while we waited for the shuttle. The La Cascada staff was not like that at all. They always smiled, said hi, answered questions, and...
