After reading the other reviews, which I regret not having done prior to booking, I had two major concerns regarding parking and noise level, both of which turned out to be non-issues; however, a plethora of other concerns arose pretty much immediately upon entering the room. The room is tiny, and two parents and two teenagers trying to co-exist in the space is a challenge. We had to use the ironing board to add extra counter space for our belongings. The crappy wall AC unit blew directly on us while we were trying to sleep, so we had to block it with a suitcase. The “closet” is a nook in the wall with a curtain. The bathroom is so small that it’s even a challenge to get dressed in. Water from the tiny shower leaked all over the floor, so there was definitely no way we would plug in anything in the bathroom for fear of electrocution. The television didn’t work properly, so the front desk person was in our room late at night trying to fix it; he couldn’t. The next day they tried again to fix it, though it still was a challenge to figure out how to actually do things like adjust the volume. Having two hotel staff invading our space during this was creepy and unnecessary if they had been in the practice of checking their equipment before checking in guests. The rooftop terrace is nothing more than a slab of concrete with dilapidated furniture on it and looks nothing like the picture representing it online; that photo is one of the reasons I chose this place, and it ended up being deceiving. The price we paid for the stay, even though it was below the average room price for the area, was absolutely not worth it. Never again will we consider...

This hotel is a little hidden gem in downtown San Diego. Quaint and decorated with flowers, it's a nice break from the tall buildings of downtown.

Pros: *Very friendly staff; receptionists, housekeeping & kitchen staff, everyone is wonderful. *Great complementary breakfast; nice variety & items get refilled promptly. *Nice rooftop terrace. *Nice room amenities; coffee & coffeemaker, blowdryer, lots of outlets, iron & ironing table.

Cons: *Although efficient, but rooms are small, we were 4 people in a 2-queen-bed room & it was difficult to move sometimes. *The beds & mushy pillows were uncomfortable, adding to that, they don't have rollaway beds (because of the small rooms). *The A/C unit is dated & inappropriately located (under the window to the side of one bed), so the person sleeping next to it can get very cold while the person in the other bed gets hot.

I really hope the management (or owner) would pay attention to the problems, because the place is great & has more potential & some of the problems can be fixed with little tweaks & make a...

We reserved this room last minute for one night after we went to the nearby Symphony, which was a 3 min walk. The room itself was ok. It was mostly clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was miniature, tight and cramped. The noise from other rooms and the parking lot was unbearable. We heard every sqeaky footstep of our upstairs neighbors. We heard every muffled conversation. We heard other room's TVs. The old fridge was making a rattling noise everytime the motor kicked off and on. The heater sounded like someone was wheezing next to us. And the sound from the loud cars in the parking lot woke us earlier than we wished. The breakfast was served in another minature room, but it was a wonderful hot breakfast. Full spread was served, including waffles, real eggs, sausage, hash browns, oatmeal, toast- even cold cereal and fruit. We would only consider staying here again if a top room floor was available and other comparable rooms in the area were booked.

Quaint, accommodating, SUPER clean. The front desk couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The room was a little smaller than expected, but clean. It was our first trip to San Diego and we wanted to be downtown within walking distance of things. Turns out the best things to do in San Diego AREN'T downtown. Parking is a joke. We're planning another trip to this area in a month or two. Staying "downtown" won't be a necessity, but we're thinking of staying here again just because it was such a pleasant top rate experience. We usually don't do continental breakfasts at hotels just because they're usually pretty lame - I went in just to grab a fork and we ended up going back to eat. It was great too. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

BED BUG INFESTATION and UNRESPONSIVE MANAGEMENT. Unacceptable Bed Bug Experience. I checked in late on August 14th and discovered a bed bug on the bed across from me the next morning. I have video evidence of the bed bug. I immediately reported this to management, who were unhelpful and suggested the bed bug originated from my luggage. This is highly unlikely as my luggage was near the entrance, and I woke up with numerous bites on my leg from the bed I slept in. Management refused to consider any compensation without a doctor's note, which is an unreasonable requirement. I cannot recommend staying here due to the bed bug issue and the poor handling of the situation.
