Please Read Review: A Nightmare Stay at Holiday Inn San Diego
I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn in San Diego for six days, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. After missing my flight, I had hoped for a smooth and comforting experience, but what I encountered was the complete opposite. After having contacted the hotel multiple times about the cancellation of my flight, they still went ahead to charge me upon reaching on Friday. The manager - Stephanie gave me a hard time even after calling billing. She even changed my date to check out the next day without confirming from me if I wanted to leave. Yea, I was angry at the fact that I was being wrongly charged for not being there. Please stay away from this facility. It’s not human friendly.
Unclean and Malodorous Bathrooms
Upon entering my room, I was immediately hit with an unbearable stench emanating from the bathroom. It was filthy, with visible grime and mold in the corners, and the odor made it nearly impossible to use. I had to buy air fresheners just to make it bearable, which is unacceptable for a hotel in this price range. Even with the air fresheners, I barely survived the stench.
Horrendous Customer Service
The treatment I received from the supposed manager and staff was appalling. When I raised concerns about the state of the bathroom, the manager was dismissive and rude, offering no real solutions or apologies. The rest of the staff seemed equally indifferent to my discomfort, making my stay even more frustrating.
Outrageous Price for Poor Quality
The price range for this hotel is outrageous, considering the deplorable conditions and lack of basic customer service. For the amount they charge, one would expect at least a clean room and courteous staff, but neither were provided.
Misinformation
There is misinformation about this facility having a shuttle which is why I booked it in the first place. Please there is no such thing as a shuttle. One of the staffs asked me to go do my laundry after adding to their website that they have guest laundry.
Breakfast
This was not the greatest too. This is wash.
Other Cons
The room was not cleaned regularly, and I had to request fresh towels multiple times.
The Wi-Fi was unreliable, making it difficult to get any work done.
Noise levels were high, with thin walls that did nothing to block out the sounds from neighboring rooms and the hallway.
Overall, my experience at the Holiday Inn in San Diego 7th Ave downtown was dreadful. I would strongly advise against staying here. The combination of a filthy bathroom, poor customer service, and exorbitant prices makes it a place to avoid at all costs. All holiday inns I have experienced are not like this, this one on 7th Ave is a...

Read moreI purchased a room stay a couple days prior to my arrival to San Diego to attend boots in the park.
Purchased the room stay through the very convenient app. It allowed me to view the full price with fees and my points all in one view. Allowed me to view the amenities and what the hotel had to offer. It also allowed me to view the location of the hotel and it’s surrounding area.
The day before arriving, the hotel allowed me to check via app. With my hotel status, I was able to check in early and pick up my room keys earlier than regular check in time which is a plus.
The hotel itself was easily accessible as it sits right at the corner of Ash and 6th . The parking was a bit nerve racking as the ramps and lanes are very narrow, making you worry that you may scratch your car or cause damage to the hotel walls.
Upon entering the lobby, the staff welcomed me and were knowledgeable of my current reservation. They provided me with all the necessary info for my stay and parking. The lobby appeared to be well maintained and clean.
Going upstairs to my room, I observed cleaning staff working to set up rooms for future guests. The staff I encountered up to my room were very hospitable. The room itself was bigger than what I expected it to be. I also was given room with a balcony that overlooked the city looking south into the downtown area. The room was hot and stuffy , so we immediately turned on the air conditioning to cool the room as we prepared for our departure into the night. We stayed approximately to hours and the room remained in a warm temperature.
The elevator to the west side of the building was out of service.
We were able to view the downtown area with a roof view and took some great pictures of San Diego’s skyline in the background.
When we returned after a night on the town, there was no one at the hotel front desk. Didn’t matter to me but I was genuinely curious where the staff was. The room, thankfully, had cooled down which allowed my wife and I to take a break from the relentless heat that we endured outside.
The restroom was clean and sufficient size. The hotel provided body wash, shampoo, conditioner, body towels, hand towels and extra toilet paper.
Overall, our stay was a delight. Besides the warm room initially, my wife and I enjoyed our quick getaway and would return to this...
