For starters, once we were told where we will be seated, we were told to go and order our food up in the front. The lady with her makeup done and eyelashes who told us where we would be seated and to order was at the front register when we made our way up to the front register ( we looked at the food that was on display)so I thought she was going to take our orders. I asked her a question inquiring about the churros and she straight up ignored me and directed a young man to take our orders. The young man was friendly and patient. However, that was not the case for the rest of the female staff who was rude and were lacking customer service. The music playing was good music but the ambiance was hostile and uncomfortable.
I had the Chilaquiles Rancheros and they were a 2.5/5. They are not the best chilaquiles. The amount of onion was overwhelming and the sauce didn't taste as good as I thought itwould. It was lacking flavor. The OJ and was good. 4/5
My cousin had the Bomba chilaquiles, tamal gratinado, with a horchata drink. The Bomba chilaquiles 3/5 because the only good thing was the meat since it was flavorful but it was smaller than the fist full. The chilaquiles hot sauce didn't have any flavor.
She gave a 3/5 for the tamal gratinado. The cheese was overwhelming and it was supposed to be a corn tamal.
The horchata 2/5 It was not authentic/ made from scratch. and my cousin only took a few sips because of the sweetness.
My aunt ordered cajeta toast and Cafe de Olla. She also bought a concha and a Cafe De Olla bag to go. My aunt loved the cafe De Olla 5/5 and the cajeta toast was also a 5/5 Customer service: 0/5 The ladies had stank faces and lacked customer service. It was our first time being treated terribly by our fellow Latinos at a restaurant.
We noticed the Caucasian ladies sitting to our left were being treated amazingly. The staff was very attentive, they made sure to ask them if they wanted more coffee which they did refill their cups, (above and beyond customer service for them based on observations), and treated them how all the customers should be treated not just them. Not one single staff member asked if we needed anything if the food was good etc. The only times we had a staff member was to drop off the food and to take my cousin's plate and that was it.
Oh and after we ordered our food I said Hi to a staff member since she was standing right in front of me and she flat-out ignored me with a fuchi face she also had the same fuchi face when we were on our way out the door. She didn't say anything. It was a horrible experience.
We felt racial microaggressions from our own fellow Latinos. They made us feel that our mere existence was not welcomed there and that we were an inconvenience to them. I highly do NOT recommend this place. Please beware, and best of luck if you...
Read moreI had one of the worst dining experiences at this restaurant, and I feel compelled to share it in detail. From the moment I walked in, the service was incredibly unprofessional and inattentive.
First, the servers barely acknowledged my presence. It took them an unusually long time to even bring menus to the table, and when they finally did, they spoke only in Spanish. Now, I completely respect and appreciate different languages and cultures, but as an English speaker, it was extremely frustrating to have zero effort made to communicate with me in a way that I could understand. It wasn’t just a simple language barrier issue—this was a matter of complete disregard for me as a customer. Every interaction with them felt like I was being excluded from a conversation happening right in front of me.
It got even worse when I tried to ask why everyone was speaking in Spanish, as I was just trying to make sure I was being understood when ordering my food. Instead of simply explaining or attempting to accommodate, I overheard one of the staff members refer to me in Spanish, making a racial comment about how “the Black girl has an attitude problem.” That was completely uncalled for, disrespectful, and flat-out offensive. I was not rude, I was not aggressive—I was merely trying to navigate the situation and communicate with my servers. Instead of treating me with the same level of service as any other paying customer, they dismissed me and labeled me unfairly.
After this frustrating experience, we finally got through our meal. But even after we were finished eating, it took an unreasonably long time for anyone to acknowledge that we were done. We sat there for about 20 minutes, waiting for someone to bring the check or at least ask if we needed anything else. No one came. I finally took it upon myself to walk to the front and pay for my meal directly because, at that point, it was clear that we were being ignored.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, just as I was leaving—after I had already tapped my card and seen the transaction visibly approved on the screen—they had the nerve to stop me and act as if I hadn’t paid! They made me wait, questioning whether I had actually paid, as if I was trying to leave without covering my bill. This was beyond frustrating and embarrassing, especially considering that I had done everything properly. It felt incredibly disrespectful and unnecessary.
Overall, this was an awful experience, from the poor service to the clear racial bias in how I was treated. I will never return to this establishment, and I strongly urge others to think twice before dining here if they expect to be treated with basic courtesy...
Read moreThis was my first time at this specific location, I had tried the Otay location before so I didn’t think it would be much of a difference going into the downtown location. I was definitely wrong. The hosts need to get additional training and proper structure on how to properly do their jobs. I arrived at 10:30am signed in and waited for 40 minutes to receive a text message that my table was ready. I went to the host and she asked me if I wanted outside or inside, I said inside so she told me I would have to wait for a table inside and this was not a problem even though this is something they should probably ask before you even wait anything but whatever at this point I’m still okay with the situation understanding they might be busy. After 20 minutes I saw several people arrive after me and go into the restaurant. I asked the host why other people were just arriving but getting seated before me, she explained that if they signed in through Yelp they would get priority over anyone who signed in physically at the restaurant. So at this point I had been waiting for an hour but anyone that signed up 5, 10 or whatever amount of minutes before arriving through Yelp would get seated before me. I don’t know who made this idiotic rule but it’s not only unfair but also not explained. If I knew this I would have easily signed in through Yelp and avoided all this nonsense. But instead you had a 7 month pregnant woman waiting for over an hour because some person made this ridiculous rule. I continued to wait and after having many people come and get seated for 20 more minutes the host tells me that it would be 20 minutes MORE. Because that was the time limit left on a table. Why couldn’t she tell me since the moment she asked me if I wanted outside or inside there was going to be an additional 1 hour wait or even a long wait didn’t even have to give me specifics. But no, they want to waste peoples time as if we’re there asking for free food. NEVER coming back to this establishment, unprofessional and a complete...
