In short: You get what you pay for (in a bad cheap way; I don’t usually write reviews so get ready for this doozy). The location was really great being 10-20 minutes walking distance from the main attractions near the ocean with a Lyft bike station right outside, but the room itself had lots of icks. The room looked nice on appearance at first glance but upon further investigation, the floorboards were uneven (some with spaces in between, some parts of the floor made a sound as if there’s a gap of air between the wood and the true flooring), the bedsheets had spots of stains on them, the AC was dusty, and a potential black mold situation in the bathroom. Take note, we looked past ALL these things shrugging them off as a “yup, this place is cheap and just base for sleep and storing our luggage” mindset; there was even a point when we were even starting to believe the water from the sink was not the cleanest after my face started to have a tingling sensation after washing my face (we ended up using bottled water instead of the sink water; I’ve never wanted to buy a water pH level testing strip and a water filter sooo bad cause the water was just that sus). Somehow, even with all these things in mind, it got much worse after the second night. We woke up to find roaches and bed bugs *everywhere*. Somehow even after sleeping on TOP of a blanket we brought to cover the bedding, I ended up getting bit twice on my back. We were set to sleep there for 3 nights but enough was enough and we packed up, got refunded for our 3rd night (the front desk guy didn’t say much after we showed him pictures and videos of the bites and bugs and he just handed us the receipt without making eye contact), and we left ASAP to get laundry done on everything we brought. We love SF but if you’re traveling, DO NOT cheap out on your place of sleep.

Summarized: If you've exhausted your luck and money elsewhere, sure. Just like peeing in a bottle is better than on yourself, this is better than being out in the cold. If you have options, run to any of the other options as fast as you can. I arrived on a Thursday Night, no one was in the lobby and the lights were off, there was no sign to let anyone know if the employees were on break etc. I stood outside in the dark and waited for over 15 minutes ringing the buzzer. Once I was checked in, I headed up to my room. The room smelled of cigarettes, the bathroom mirror was cracked, one of the window shutters was broken and taped up, the bathroom door did not close and the doorknob of it wasn't even installed in the door properly, the wood of the door was cracked. The heater/AC unit was so dusty that I didn't turn it on. When I took a shower, I noticed that there was a used bar of soap on the shower door railing above my head. This tells me that the room is not properly inspected/cleaned. The wall above the bathroom mirror had a hole that was stuffed with toilet paper. There was a framed picture in the bathroom that was moldy behind the glass. I brought my own disinfectant and sprayed the whole room down as soon as I got there, but I still felt that surfaces were not cleaned properly. I took photos just so I don't sound like I'm making anything up, I probably should have taken more.

This was hands down the dirtiest hotel room I've ever stayed in. I'm really not a picky person when it comes to hotels, and as they say, you get what you pay for, but I paid for a clean room, and this definitely was not that. It was so filthy we went to the mini mart across the street for cleaning supplies and had to sweep, wipe everything down with lysol wipes and even then, we absolutely would not touch the floors without slippers. The floor was so dirty that it appeared to not have been swept, let alone mopped, for a while. The wipes were so dirty when I wiped the light switches, and there were spots on the walls that came right off with a wipe. There's no excuse for this. I'm not looking for some remodeled room, I don't care that the shutters were broken, the furniture worn, whatever. But at least make sure housekeeping is acceptable. To top it all off, we ran out of toilet paper and we were ringing the doorbell for the front desk at 8:30 am and got no answer. Had to go buy that from the convenience store too. Wouldn't stay here again. What a rip off.

The first impression was with the front desk guy with his very bad attitude, once we checked in and entered in the room we noticed the tv wasn't working , so I had to call to the front desk with my own cellphone since the room phone , the clock alarm were disconnected and no working at all , so the front desk guy came up just to explained to me that I had to get up every time I wanted to use the tv and turn it manually I told him this is so embarrassing as well I mentioned about the windows shutters were holded with electrical black tape the bed base were stinks and dirty so instead of an apology from him he got mad and said he can not switched me to another room because all of them were in same conditions and nobody is been made any complaint about it , is so sad when I told him I will submitt a complaint to the corporate and he responded "do whatever you want" Below I will share some pictures of the room , and I do not accept any such of apologies from the owner since it looks clearly these issues are been happening in the past and they do not want to improve quality and service . And I could believed this it could happening to me on a motel 6 . I hope the corporate can take some actions and do something about it because is hurting motel...
