My best friend & I started an amazing road trip this morning & our first stop was San Fran! We had such a fun day and ended it wandering around downtown wanting a late night snack & NA bevvies —and we wandered into the Irish times. Lucky us. Dreamy service & guilty pleasure bar snacks were just what we were hoping for. There were different sports playing around the room. For a narrow room, they’ve made excellent use of the space. There were several different groups all moving at different speeds but nobody was bothered or interrupted by anyone else. The two gals working the room did a great job being kind & offering up suggestions. Both on the menu, drinks, and places in San Fran we should check out before we skidattle down the road. We were excited to hear that they had ginger beer & other NA options. Not a lot of NA specifics but Becks light beer was an option!

The poutine & wings were excellent! The kitchen was fast & the cooks checked in with the servers to see if everything was good. (We saw someone get the shepherds pie and wished we had gotten it. Yummmmm!!! Maybe next time!)

We really enjoyed this quick stop- we didn’t get our servers name but we really felt taken care of & appreciated the suggestions offered while we’re in town. If the rest of our trip is as good as how it started, we’re in for a real treat...

I've been here probably 20-30 times and every time but one was an average to good experience. The reason I am providing a rating of 1-star is because a bartender was aggressive towards me.

I should provide some context to the story so you can better understand the circumstances from both sides. I was in a group of 5 and we were watching some sporting even, so the bar was packed. It was loud, crowded, and I'm sure the staff were stressed. It's still no excuse to be rude to a customer and in any other job they would get reprimanded for what's about to follow.

We have been ordering from the same bartender for a few hours now. I waited patiently and asked the bartender for 5 beers. He yells at me "No, you have to wait. You didn't tip me last time!". I was shocked, but how rude this employee was to me. I told him while nervously laughing, "I did tip you" and he claimed again that I didn't.

I've never had this happen to me before. Either this was the first time I forgot to tip or he was mistaken. In any case, the damage was done and I'll never go back to this place. I'm positive not everyone will experience what I did, but it did...

This is the first time I have ever reviewed on Google but felt compelled to. Visited Irish Times from out of town and I have to say the small short haired female bartender and the grey haired male bartender are both very rude.

My wife and I visited on St Patrick’s Day and we witnessed both of them be rude to different customers, one of which was when someone asked the male bartender if anyone could wipe down a dirty table, he just laughed in their face and said ‘This place isn’t a hotel’ and just walked off.

Regarding the female bartender, having sat at the bar and ordered a round of drinks. She very abruptly told me the price and took the money from me. I then placed a tip on the bar which she later collected. When we went to order a second round we asked if they sold sparkling white wine to which she replied ‘Yeah…….. do you want one or not’. When I went to pay for the second round she basically started question me on what and how I was going to tip her as I didn’t bother before. I told her I did tip her….. she then basically called me a liar.

I would not recommend this place to anyone and would never go back...

During our visit to Irish Time in SF, we decided to follow our server's recommendation and ordered their Guinness in a glass. And let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing! The server's advice was spot-on. We originally planned to order a pitcher of Guinness, but the server informed us that Guinness poured in a glass would provide a better taste experience. Trusting their expertise, we took their suggestion, and we're so glad we did. The Guinness in the glass was exceptionally smooth and flavorful. It surpassed our expectations, leaving us thoroughly impressed. In those establishments, the Guinness often had a bitter aftertaste. However, at Irish Time, the Guinness in the glass was a true delight, and it's no wonder they've perfected the pouring technique. Aside from the remarkable Guinness, Irish Time also offers a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. The staff was attentive and helpful throughout our visit, contributing to a positive overall experience.

the service is very slow in the hall there are only two people working, we waited for the menu for about 15 minutes then the food came and we waited for the check for about 20 minutes and no one came up to us! in this restaurant, if you yourself don’t ask anyone, you will sit and wait .... no one offered us water initially and we had to wait for some time to catch the waiter and ask for water. they also don't have a drinks menu, or rather, it is on the wall ... on the positive side - they have a good bartender woman, she told us about the drinks and made them pretty quickly. Very tasty food and drinks that could not but please. As for the atmosphere, the hall and restroom are quite pleasantly decorated. the women's restroom was clean and decorated with beautiful paintings.

We did Alcatraz, hit City Lights Books, and then we needed a bathroom and a drink, in that order. We had planned to have dinner in Chinatown, but Irish Times stood out in a quick Google search and was within a 9 minute walk. We thought it would be a bathroom break and one adult beverage, but it turned into dinner. Food was very good, and the food and drinks were the most reasonably priced we had come across during our visit, but what stood out was the much overworked gentleman behind the bar who doubled as our server. The man was a gentle giant and very accommodating. He went above and beyond. Made me a fantastic Old Fashioned. Great find!
