The hotel is a little dated but that’s not really an issue. Some people might mind that so it’s important to keep in mind. The room was pretty small and definitely a squeeze to get to the bathroom as the layout for the shower/sink was a bit weird. They serve a continental breakfast on each floor between 7 am - 9:30 am. Sadly, our room was right by the elevator and we were both woken up before 7 am by the set up of breakfast. Neither of us are particularly light sleepers, but it was extremely noisy right next to the elevator. And if you have any time difference or jet lag, getting up before 7 am local time is a bit unpleasant. We only stayed one night otherwise I would definitely have asked to be moved to a different room further from the elevator. Bed was soft, not much support compared to some other hotels but also not the worst bed I’ve slept on in a hotel. Halfway through the night, I kept noticing some hard thing attached to my pillow. So I tried to switch out my pillow but it turned out every single pillow had the same hard thing attached to it. Almost looked like a security tag perhaps, which seemed excessive for a pillow. Before checking in, I received messages from the hotel regarding baggage and how they would be willing to store bags before and after check in. We arrived a few hours before check in knowing the room wouldn’t be ready, the lady at the front desk was curt and just said “check in is at 3, put your bag over there.” No hellos or anything but we figured it was early, maybe she had a bad day. She looked so annoyed to have to lock bags up. When we checked in later that night, it was a gentleman at the front desk who was friendly and had no issue unlocking our bag and checking us in. The next morning we checked out a little earlier than the check out time since we had been up since before 7 am due to the noise. When we checked out, the same lady from earlier was there, she checked us out quickly but then immediately turned away afterwards as we were asking about leaving our bags. She was on her phone and we continued to ask if we could leave our bags. She looked so annoyed and said “Bags? Just leave them there.” It felt pretty strange how much of a disturbance to her it was to leave our bags since I had gotten messages from the hotel explicitly stating that they offer this service. Overall, the hotel was fine especially if your room isn’t near the elevator but it definitely feels like you’re more a bother than a guest. I’d suggest spending just a little more to stay at a much nicer hotel since the Andrews wasn’t particularly much cheaper than the other hotel we stayed in during our trip to...

Very cute place near Union Square but there is a large unhoused community in this area. Directly outside of the hotel was a man shooting up drugs and one drinking Drano about 20ft from the door.

It gives a vintage, jazzy vibe. They offer bagels, yogurt, coffee and juice for breakfast in their lobby from 7am to 10am. The lobby capacity holds (maybe) 15 very small people.

The hotel is quaint and has upgraded furniture. If you're a larger person, this is not the place for you. I'm tiny and I felt like I needed to walk through doorways sideways.

When we checked in on 8 Aug, the clerk wasn't very friendly. We asked about parking and he told us valet was available for $52 a day. I asked where the cars are parked because there is very limited parking in San Francisco anyway, and he pointed to his right and said "up the street". There is an alley directly behind the building that's $40 for 24 hours or $10 for 10 hours. So, basically the hotel charges $12 more to park it for you. I asked where the free parking was and he said "you can park wherever you like." The Andrews Hotel website states "private parking, valet parking, parking garage accessable".

The room was tidy and contemporary. Toiletries are 'public' as they're literal soap dispensers in the shower. There was mold in the bathroom (shower). The bathroom is maybe 4ft x 8ft with a walk in shower. If you're taller than 5'4 and weigh more than 115lbs, good luck dressing yourself in the bathroom after a shower. The bathroom is very, very, very small.

The first night we didn't sleep because of the noise from the streets below (we had the window open because they do not have air conditioning units), just a dusty ceiling fan and loud people in the hall or on the same floor. The second night we didn't sleep because there was a baby screaming all through the night. I felt so bad for the caretakers; they didn't get any sleep, either.

The bed was super firm and there were no extra blankets. The temperature in the room went from hot to cold then muggy and the hall has a musty smell.

Housekeeping staff is pleasant and are not native English speakers, so communication is a struggle.I advised the evening clerk of the crying baby and mold and he thanked me for letting him know but nothing was done about it.

Check in was horrible. It took us an hour and a half to get us checked in. Even with valet, we waited about 30-45 min to even park on the white parking section they have where they tell you to park because there were other vehicles parked there that valet wasn’t parking out of the way. Good luck getting someone to answer the phone at this hotel. When we were getting ready to check out, I called the hotel so they can have our car ready. I literally called consecutively for 30 min straight until someone answered the phone and they had the adocity to ask if they can place me on hold which I didn’t agree to because all I had to ask for was valet to get my car ready. They also doubled charged my card when I clearly stated I had a reservation through trip advisor. They did refund the extra $350 they charged the night I checked in. But when I checked out they had me sign another form for $190. I though this was the total I was being charged with valet and everything. When I got home from my trip I realized that the $180 charge for the room from trip advisor had gone all the way through and that the $190 was still Pending. So I called that same day we got back from our trip again, and again. I had to call about 10 times before someone could answer the phone. They said the $190 was the hold for accidentals and the valet and to give my bank some time to release this hold and that I should be receiving only $143 back minus the charge for the valet. So I did. On Tuesday March 27th the transaction went all the way through. So I called the hotel again and again for 30 min straight until I got frustrated and ended up calling trip advisor for help. I stayed Saturday night March 24,2018 and today is Friday March 30th. Almost a week later and till this day I have not received a refund and TripAdvisor can’t get a hold of them either. Not to mention that the hotel is super outdated. It has an old school heater that we couldn’t get to work. They also have major violations. In the shower there’s an electric box and the smoke detector is next to a fan. This is a bad hotel with the worst service. Save yourself the headache and...

Wonderful Botique hotel.(Almost 115 yrs old) Very european in size of rooms. We stayed in #708. NOTE: If your expecting a chain hotel room, look elsewhere, and pay $an Franci$co price$ for chain experience. Fantastic value to sleep and store you luggage if your touring the city. Close to Union square only blocks away,  Starbucks (coffee & breakfast items 1 block away). Saks, Macy's, Cable cars, tour buses, public transportation at Union square. The rooms have high ceilings with a firm and comfortable bed, slept great. We had a nce view from our room (ymmv). Large closet with two luggage stands and a safe. No AC, but does have a ceiling fan. Smallest bathroom I have ever used about 28" opening into shower, plenty of hot water. Eco- shampoo, conditioner, shower gel. Bathroom was clean, linens smelled fresh, were clean and crisp. Think economy seat on an airplane.for space. Fresh brewed hot coffee,  hot water, choice of Tea and ice water for guests in the lobby. We spent one night here, we had an early flight into San Francisco from PDX. We coordinated ahead of time to check-in early (or to have or luggage stored) .  This allowed us to spend seven hours on the Big Bus tours (open top double decker bus). The next day we stayed at the Palace hotel and enjoyed the Garden Court's Signature Tea for our 28th anniversary. (This hotel was even older but it was 4X the price for maybe 90% more space). See review. Note:We should have cleaned up the bathroom before taking pictures as this was not reflectice of the bathroom condition.
