After a long Sunday, my friends and I just wanted some pho. We got pho from que viet, but we also got a side of sadness :(
Unfortunately our experience was not great. We ordered a couple appetisers, and around 4 pho bowls and 2 regular entrees. After taking our order, we waited around 15 minutes for ... our first appetiser to come out, a fried imperial roll. Okay great, seems reasonably quick! After this first appetiser though, everything else took forever.
After another 25-30 minutes of waiting and trying to flag the waitress (the restaurant is small as well), we finally got our first dish. Out of 6. Our friend graciously waited for us to get our food before digging in themselves, which turned out to be a mistake. It was another 10 minutes before our next dish arrived (still no soup had arrived)! After another eternity (what felt like 15 minutes), we finally got our soup bowls. All the while we were waiting, our waiter never really acknowledged us! Also, they forgot about our thai tea and another appetiser. In total, with the wait to get a table and take our order, it was over an hour to receive our food!
When paying, they messed up, included the items we didn't receive, and there was a mis-communication over both the gratuity as well as what the sub-total would be. The waiter also never said anything about the wait or apologised, and there was no reason for everything to be so slow! Why was the pho taking so long compared to all the other dishes??
The worst part of this all is that I was looking forward to walking to Uji time to get ice cream afterwards, which was planned at the start of the meal. But because the restaurant took so long to bring our food, it was around 840 when we left, and Uji time closes at 9. I ran as fast as I could to metreon to try to get ice cream, but when we arrived I found that it had just closed, and my heart sunk. My night was ruined.
The food was fine, it just took way too long to get our food and non attentive service for such...
Read moreI’ve never been served a smaller portion of pho in my life, and I wish I was exaggerating. The $17.50 lunch deal special advertised a small beef pho, two pieces of shrimp spring rolls, and a drink. That sounds reasonable, right?
I had no idea that when they put small, they meant SMALL. The pho was served in a tiny, tiny bowl and was only filled halfway (see the attached picture—and no, I hadn’t started eating yet). This would be acceptable if I had ordered a kid’s size pho, and even then, you’d at least expect the bowl to be filled all the way. The spring rolls were likewise half the size of a regular spring roll. This wasn’t a lunch deal—it was a ripoff.
We also ordered the $22 banh hoi with pork and chicken, which also came out with a meager portion of both meat and banh hoi. Again, what are these servings?
I had high hopes for this place and left hungry and...
Read moreWas in the neighborhood for lunch and wanted Vietnamese food. Stopped here with some family for lunch. Ordered from their lunch special.
A couple of us had the beef Pho, and a couple of us had the chicken Pho. The broth was tasty to give you a flavor of the homeland. Good enough, but not the best. The springroll was fresh and as expected.
You can order hot or cold soy bean milk or another beverage as your drink. I ordered the hot soy milk, and it hit the spot for the cool afternoon.
The staff was friendly, the food came out fast, reasonable price and a clean restaurant.
The availability of Vietnamese dishes is good enough to give you a taste of comfort food.
It is not Little Saigon or San Jose Vietnamese Food, but it's good enough for...
