I have been dreaming of such a space for over a decade now when I wanted to transition from Legal to Architecture or General Contract work. I couldnt get a job without real referenceable legit experience and/or vocational training. I couldn't afford to go to school and not work necessarily. The union wasn't on my radar yet thinking I could easily move from office environment to another with over a decade of collecting administrative, clerical, and legal soft skills.
I went into the trades eventually, and then I could nit go back to the office as easily being away for a few years not keeping apace with the highly competitive market anymore. I temped and realized I really didn't want to go back. It was just what I knew best and had the most experience doing most of my life.
NOW, having only been here 6 months, Humanmade is making a HUGE difference for SO many of us trying to break into a new to us industry. All I can say is, THANK YOU! I almost cried 5x today. We've come a long way baby to Auto Cad and 3D Printing! The future of possibikities is endless!...

Their non-profit model allows them to bring tremendous good to their community through a works program, and with that, they have an environment which serves 3 purposes, co-working space for professionals, education spaces for people in need of skills, and resources for makers and hobbyists.
I could not be happier with a community. They have done truly...
Read moreThis place is great for beginner, or veteran, battle-hardened in the fog of war. The classes are thorough and cover a wide range of different skills you can learn. The equipment is well maintained, fairly new (as far as what I've used so far) and will cover basically anything you need to make. The staff are incredibly friendly / helpful as well and can answer questions you have and can provide suggestions on techniques or equipment to use for a specific task you're trying to accomplish.
All-in-all, a very good shop. I've been a member at other shops which had good equipment, but the staff and culture were lacking. This...
