My son took me to Wabi for lunch and I have to say that the quality and the freshness of the fish was not like I have experienced before! My son had told me how he just happened to stumbled upon this sushi restaurant by accident…and I’m glad he did! The service is great. We were served quickly and attended to personally. The restaurant it’s self is very small, maybe 25, at the most and as we ate there, a steady stream of “Uber eats” and “Grub hub” drivers arrived for “pick up” orders, you could tell that Wabi is definitely a hidden gem! Tucked away from the hustle of the city, Wabi is on Ritch St. (an alley), just off of Bryant, near Oracle Park. When the food arrived, it was perfectly presented. Nothing fancy at all, but expertly laid out. The thing that impressed me the most was, that the sashimi I had, was not like any other sushi I had eaten before! It’s quality and freshness was a definite step above what I have eaten in the past. Don’t get me wrong, the sushi I’ve eaten before Wabi, has always been too notch but the way the fish appears and tastes at Wabi, stands in a class of its own. The cuts were buttery smooth and bursting with flavor! The tuna, (which is usually a pretty stock fish, nothing special) truly blew me away! I’ve Never tasted any Maguro like this before, and even though I can’t recall the exact taste now, I know that it was special and of a unique quality! But believe me, Everything was special and so delicious. Aside from the fish, I had some amazing seaweed salad, that consisted of (what I could tell 3 different types of seaweed), was super flavorful and not overpowering. The Miso Soup was very pleasant and awoke my taste buds, to anticipate the meal that would follow! (I honestly was a little “skittish”, to eat anything at all because I was experiencing nausea due to a bad reaction to a medication I was taking but everything I ate did the trick!) I can’t recommend Wabi more! It’s definitely in a...
Read moreWe checked out this place on a Sunday night and loved it. We were easily able to make a day-of reservation, but I imagine that would be difficult to do with a party larger than 2, as the restaurant is quite small (which only added to its charm!). We got the maguro tasting plate (6 pc), a shrimp tempura roll with avocado, tuna, and eel sauce, salmon nigiri (sake), seared salmon belly nigiri, and yellowtail nigiri (hamachi). The texture and flavor of every piece of fish was incredible, but our favorite by far was the seared salmon belly nigiri. The flavor of the charred searing combined with the buttery texture of the medium-rare salmon was perfection. I will be dreaming about it until the next time I’m able to get it!
Our waitress was extremely attentive. My husband and I are both big water drinkers, and she was always quick to refill our glasses. After we paid our bill, she brought us complementary inari, which is a sweet tofu skin wrapped around rice. I don’t know if they do that every time, but even just the once was enough to cement our loyalty.
Prices are typical SF prices and not bad for a chill date night. One thing to note is they don’t seem to have any alcoholic drinks for purchase (to be fair, I didn’t ask—just noticed it on the menu as a peculiarity). This isn’t a knock against the place at all, just something to keep in mind if you were planning on a cocktail or a beer being a part of...
Read moreMy husband and I came here for our 11th dating anniversary to celebrate. We were surprised at how intimate and small this location was, but heard good things so was still very excited to try. Upon entry, there’s a few tables on the right, 4-seated bar seating, and 3 people table behind it. It’s not made for lots of people but I appreciated the intimate spot because of the better service and attention. It did get really loud when all parties are talking at once, but when the tables left and only my husband and I were left, it was so much more fun. We got to meet the chef, Ti and get to know him and his crew. The restaurant has only been opened for 6 months, and just picking up from pandemic items. Highly recommend the bar seating to get to know the chefs, it’s what makes all my omakase experiences such a memorable one. The fish are extremely fresh, and I definitely came for the chefs choice omakase (11 pieces). We also tried their Wabi-sabi roll since my friend highly suggested it, and it was very unique. Kick of spice, with scallops, and so many textures. We opted in for more uni at the end because it was so fresh, yum! Our bill came out to be a little under $200 which is sooo reasonable for the quality. We will definitely be back and recommend checking this...
