We recently stayed a couple days at Casa Sol Bed and Breakfast in Old San Juan. Eddie and I corresponded several times ahead of the trip arranging car pick up service, etc.
The pre-arrival preparation from Eddie helped the trip flow smoothly since this was our first time in Puerto Rico. Eddie warmly greeted us as we arrived, gave us some local popsicles and recommended some sites we should check out given our interests. The hospitality was truly comforting, like you were visiting a long lost relative.
The B&B is in an amazing location. It only takes minutes to walk to different attractions, restaurants and stores in Old San Juan. At one point in time, we got caught in a drizzle of rain, and we were able to get back to our room within minutes before a down-pour came. If we got tired of walking around, we could quickly go back to our room to rest before hitting the streets again. I couldn’t imagine how much of a pain it would’ve been to stay in the downtown district of San Juan and have to take a car back & forth to Old San Juan. This location is to die for and has everything you need within a 15 minute walk.
Every morning Eddie and his family would serve a phenomenal, homemade breakfast. We had poached eggs, french toast, local fruits & cheeses and delicious local coffee. We enjoyed the coffee so much we bought a bag to take home. Margarita, Eddie’s wife and business partner, was also amazing and incredible sweet. She made sure we felt at home the entire time and recommended a local event for our family to support. One of their daughters helps prepare for this local community event and it was great to see her perform.
We stayed in the room, La Muralla. It was the perfect amount of space for our family and was a gorgeous room. Margarita explained to us how each room in the B&B highlights/honors an aspect of Old San Juan. Our room, La Muralla, was named after the city’s wall.
Please consider supporting a local business who is proud of Puerto Rico and their heritage. When we are in San Juan again, this is where we will...
Read moreLa Casa del Sol is a wonderful place to stay in Old San Juan. First of all, Casa del Sol has wheelchair access. The room also provides a bathroom that accommodates the need of the handicapped person. Each room is named after a point of interest of Old San Juan. Examples are La Perla, and La Muralla. The rooms are impeccable clean. One of the rooms, La Muralla, have a capacity for a family of four. There are hand sanitizers in the entrance, the rooms, and the patio. Besides being extremely clean, Tisha is an excellent host. She gives a personal touch to Casa del Sol. She is hands on in every detail and need of the guests. She provides a superb breakfast. The generous breakfast consists of coffee, juices, fruits, sandwiches, eggs pastries etc. according the menu of the day. The location is very strategic. It is close to San Cristobal, el Morro and restaurants and bars. Everything is a walking distance. Really a great place...
Read moreWe booked this trip to celebrate my 32nd birthday, and staying at this B&B made it all the more meaningful.
This place is for the culture lovers—for the travelers who seek not just to see a destination, but to truly experience it. Tisha and Eddie were exceptional hosts who helped shape our stay into something unforgettable.
From accommodating our late arrival due to flight delays, to offering a complimentary late checkout, to recommending incredible (and free) local experiences—they went above and beyond. Their passion for sharing the best of the island made all the difference.
We often choose to stay in locally owned B&Bs, and we’ve stayed in many around the world. This one stands out. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed with a modern yet simple charm. The bed was great—our only suggestion would be to consider updating the pillows.
Thank you for a fantastic first experience in San Juan. We hope to...
