My husband and I stayed at this small, boutique hotel for 2 nites in September 2023. |The Pros: Spotlessly clean, large room with small kitchenette (microwave and mini fridge) comfortable bed, plenty of towels, quiet location but within a short walk to the main tourist area, attractive and well thought out common areas.||Cons: Poor Customer Service/Communication with the hotel staff was unpleasant. I phoned the hotel to extend our stay by one nite and the woman I spoke with was unable to help me because "I had not booked our reservation directly with the hotel itself". She told me to contact the booking site I had used. I don't understand why she didn't offer to book our second nite directly through her/the hotel when I spoke to her. I ended up doing it myself on line. |We received a call from this same person the day we were to check in. I was driving and my husband took the call. She wanted to make sure we had received check-in instructions (we had) but my husband told her that we would be arriving before the 4PM check-in time and asked if it would be possible to check in early. He told me that she had said the room was ready and an early check-in would be possible. When we arrived at the hotel (around 1:30PM) the cleaning staff was there and I asked about our room. We were told it wasn't ready. When I expressed my confusion, the woman from the cleaning staff said she would ask about this and left. About 2 minutes latter I received a call from the same woman that both my husband and I had spoken to previously. She angrily told me that she had NEVER told my husband that an early check in was possible and that "you agreed to the 4PM check in time when you made your reservation!". I understand that my husband was having difficulty hearing the woman when he spoke to her earlier that day. We were driving over rough pavement and there was quite a bit of road noise. Perhaps he misheard. And yes, I did agree to a 4 PM check in. However, it was the way she spoke to me-as though I were a disobedient child...Really???We left to have lunch and do some sight seeing, returning around 3:53PM. The cleaners were long gone and we attempted entry (I am a foolish optimist!)-denied! We waited until 4:03 and presto! We were allowed in. ||The hotel has the right to manage check in times, etc. in whatever way they deem best, but it would have meant a great deal to us to have received a phone call at 3PM or even 3:30PM saying our room was ready and we could go ahead and check in. Also, the way the woman spoke to me was unacceptable and completely unnecessary. Customer service needs significant improvement! Although there were so many things about this hotel that we liked, I don't think we will return because of our interactions with this one person and her/the hotels lack of flexibility. I don't know what we would have done if there had been some type of...

I REALLY had my hopes up for this place and I truly believe my review would be higher if not for a lot of little inconsistencies and inconveniences during my stay. Let’s start with the positives first. Great location! 10 minutes walk to the Central Part of the historic district and about the same distance to river st. The hotel is facing a square and is rather charming with its included closed in courtyard. Now with the negatives, I had to call CVP (their management company) at 4:10pm because I had not gotten my codes for the property. They did not pick up on the first call and then I received a call back around 10 minutes later. I guess they were having issues with their system so I got 4 different codes for all of the doors when I should have gotten one to unlock all the doors. When I arrived up to my room, I had received a room that I did not book (that was fine as they had warned me of the move because the ac was broken in the room I had originally selected) but I was disappointed when I saw that the shower was completely facing the bed. Luckily I was traveling alone so privacy isn’t an issue, I was just still taken aback. Right away I noticed the large amounts of dust in the room. It looked like they had not used this room in close to a year because the dust level was honestly kind of disgusting and there were dead bugs on the windowsill. I appreciated that later that night, after check in, I received a text asking how my stay was. I worked up the guts to let them know my dissatisfaction with the room and they were able to move me to a room on the second floor. I was kind of frustrated when they asked me to send pictures of the dust or else they would have charged me a room switch fee. Luckily I had already taken photos after check in. They even asked me if I felt like my original room needed room service prior to the next guest stay. Um yes I just sent you photos of the dead bug and dust?? I got moved, it was fine but throughout my stay I had multiple issues with the door codes and so it was fun having to sort through the multiple text messages I got from different phone numbers to try to find the right code each time. I thought the decor in the room was super cute, however on closer look, you could tell all the furniture was cheaply made from a store like home goods. I also found it interesting that both rooms I stayed in only had one small wicker basket trashcan and no set of drawers. So If you plan to stay for longer than 2 nights like I did, plan to bring a larger trash bag and prepare to be living out of...

We booked for 5 nights in the 101 Studio King/Queen studio apartment. We wanted a good location in the historic downtown area of Savannah and this location fit the bill.

We were able to park right outside the room on Houston street in one of the paid parking meters, so that was pretty convenient. These meters are first come first serve, so make sure to plan accordingly. You just paid for a full day and left? Someone can take that spot and camp out. Not the Presents fault - but that's just how Savannah parking is.

Since check in was at 4PM and we were a bit early, the lock on the door didn't work. Once 4PM hit, we were able to get into the room (multiple attempts I would add). The lock is very finicky and you have to "high five" it to get it to light up. It takes some practice.

The area is easy to walk to River Street and other attractions. The area does get busy around the apartment, so keep that in mind.

Once inside, the open floor plan of the room was impressive! The brick pillars inside of the room were a great touch. Having a gas range, full fridge and most all of the utensils and cooking gear really made things easy! The AC unit was a bit loud, but kept things comfortable.

Some of the decorations were a bit questionable ( bowling trophy from the 1960s..) , but most of it was pretty tasteful and complimented the room nicely.

The beds were VERY comfortable. Not cheap and springy like most hotel beds are. It seemed to be a nice firm foam based mattress. The sofas in the apartment were also very comfortable.

The biggest highlight of the room is the shower. The shower size was large and the shower head was excellent. The Hipster Einstein art in the bathroom was pretty great.

On the surface, the room was done up very nice. If you start to look closer in areas, some sloppiness is seen. All around, there are little details where you can tell this remodel was very rushed. Exposed screws, panels leaving large gaps on the ceiling of the bathroom etc. I get it though - these are very old buildings, so there is only so much you can do.

As a tenant on the property, you have access to a coffee area and a balcony with a porch swing on the second floor, which was a nice area to relax in.

Even with some of the cosmetic issues, it was still a very enjoyable stay...

Loved everything about our stay at The Present Savannah! Literally the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in! And possibly the biggest shower in a hotel I’ve ever seen! Such a unique property that is so close and walkable to so many places! The little courtyard is gorgeous, although we didn’t get to use it during our short stay. Loved the welcome envelope! Do not forget - there is no elevator! So when you stay on the fourth floor, you walk up 3 flights of stairs with your luggage! The only thing that could be improved would be better toilet paper (1 ply just doesn’t cut it for me, lol) and a microwave in the room. There IS a mini fridge, mini Keurig with lots of kcups, sugar, creamer, and cute mugs, and a nice glass container of water available in the room for you. I loved the “choose your own adventure” cards on the back of the door with recommendations of places to go and things to do. Such a good idea! Even though there is no traditional front desk or any staff you see on the property, they make up for it with personal touches and thoughtful amenities. I can’t wait to come back and book another room here! 10/10 would recommend!

This is a well kept hotel with fun, if occasionally a bit “trying a little too hard”, touches (we got a free little gift in our mailbox when we arrived which was great but we laughed a little when it included a typed quote from Gandhi). The room was comfortable and the attention to detail was wonderful. This would be an easy five for me but we had one issue with too much light in our room and it took two texts and two phone calls to get anything done about it and my texts were never responded to and I never received a call back. That being said, the issue was dealt with to my satisfaction but the communication was plain bad. I worry that if we had a larger issue it would have been tougher. However, I would stay again if the price was right so it was good overall.
