I reached out twice out in regard to our recent stay. We had some issues that arose before and during our stay. Originally I booked room 304, which had a king-sized bed, spa tub, fireplace, mini fridge, and very few stairs. I called to verify my room the Monday before our stay as I had lost the confirmation email. The young gentleman told me the room number so I could look again at the layout etc. When I looked up, the room showed a queen-sized bed. I called back, and the manager on duty explained that there had been recent renovations and that some rooms had been changed from king-sized beds to queen-sized beds. If I had not called, I would never have known of the change, which seems a bit unprofessional. The manager offered another room, 318, with similar amenities but up two flights of stairs, although it is not on the website for me to verify. I explained to him that I was unable to use the stairs(due to a car accident). He mentioned that another building was being finished up and might be available for our stay. He said he would call back after speaking to the owner. After two days with no call, I called back and was again told that the room would 'likely' be ready for our stay on Friday and that I would get a callback. Come Friday, I received no phone call, and when we received our check-in paperwork, it still showed room 318, which was up two flights of stairs. However, the gentleman checking us in said we were in the new room, 401. I asked if it had the same amenities as our original room and was told that it did. When we got in the room, there was no mini-fridge, the coffee pot was on a chair, there was no fireplace(just the mantle/hole), and it was a walk-in shower with no tub. The room seemed like it would be great when it was finished, but it was very obviously not done for our stay. While I do appreciate that they rushed to get a room on the first floor ready, it was not truly ready, in my opinion. We did ask about a mini-fridge, and we were told that we could "use the kitchen fridge if needed,” but we ended up buying a small cooler and got ice from the staff. We had no option at that point but to stay as most places were booked or very costly.|One additional thing: to the left of the fireplace, below the window and behind the curtain, an electrical outlet did not have a cover, which is a significant safety issue.||Oh, and "Grumpy" was amazing and very helpful, as much as...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I stayed at 17Hundred90 for a long weekend in Savannah. It was reasonably priced compared to some of the other hotels in the Historic North District and also had a charm to it that modern hotels don't offer.||We were given a complimentary pass for 2 drinks from the bar o the ground floor, which was very kind of them. We enjoyed the drinks after getting settled in our room and we ate at their restaurant, also on the ground floor, later that night. The menu is not large but the food was excellent! ||We stayed in Room 101, which was quaint but not overly gaudy. It was equipped with a decent SmartTV, a dorm fridge and a small coffee maker. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom sufficed for our needs. We didn't experience anything paranormal during our stay; it was quiet and relaxing when we retired for the night. Note that the "1xx" rooms are actually on the second floor and require stairs to access. "2xx" rooms are on the third floor and are accessible by stairs inside the building once you get inside.||The location makes it very easy to walk to nearby eateries or the waterfront. Broughton and Congress Streets have lots of shops and music venues, as well as a few blocks further away at the waterfront. You could probably stay a little closer to the "action" but there's a price to pay for that! So, for the cost, the 1790 is a great location.||The inn has somewhat limited and tight parking at the rear of their property. We paid $15/day but I believe you'd have to pay for parking about anywhere else, whether at a garage on the street, so it's not a big expense. It was convenient having our car nearby, although we didn't use it from the time we arrived to the time we left!||ALL of the staff were absolutely fantastic! Very warm and receiving and quite helpful with a couple of our requests. Note that their Main Desk is only open from 10AM-10PM, so outside of those hours, you're sort of on your own. Also note that you are supplied with a key to enter the building and one for your room, so it's very important to not lose those if you are going to be leaving and coming into the building after 10PM or before 10AM!||If you are looking for a fairly-priced, quaint and accessible location (which may include some other guests!), in Savannah, I would definitely...
