We absolutely loved 1790 Inn. It is perfect if you want to feel like a local. We had a quick check in on Friday. A wonderful man that goes by the name of Grumpy carried our bags to our room, told stories, and would not take a tip. We loved him! We went to the bar at the Inn - we had a coupon for two drinks. We met Scott the bartender - who knows how to pour a Guiness properly. We were there less than an hour because we had reservations at another restaurant. On Saturday, we came back in towards the end of the night. Scott remembered us and spoiled us. He is just fun. We loved that the bar had more locals than tourists. The suite we stayed in was quirky in a good way. We did not feel like we were in some bland hotel. The building we were in was built in 1856. They mixed modern amenities like a flat screen tv and a private fridge with historic charm - wood beam ceilings and a comfortable bed. We loved the location. We didn't want to leave. We look forward to coming back and next time we will eat at the restaurant - the food looked fabulous. Thanks to all of you for making our weekend great!

AMAZING. I cannot rave enough about our stay here. It is close to everything, the staff are super friendly, the rooms are beautiful. Highlights - the gentleman at the desk helping us find parking, the size of the room (room 201), the decor of the room, the super comfy bed, the journals in each room. It is old and charming with all the modern amenities - private bathroom, TV, A/C, Wi-Fi. There is a restaurant and bar on site - we had drinks but did not try the food, but it looked great. Bonus - room 201 and 204 are said to be haunted, but we didn't experience anything in room 201.

First night in Savannah. Had a wonderful meal in the restaurant. Sautéed shrimp and Lamb Shank. Got honey biscuits before the meal, which is a nice touch. We were seated next to the piano player. I thought it might be a little loud, but ended up being just right. Service was very good. Be sure to save some room for the Bread Pudding ala mode.

This was our first time staying at the 1790. Upon check in the young girl working the desk was super friendly and cheerful. Our room was very spacious and just as advertised on the internet. Other than that there is really good to say about our stay. We checked in Wednesday night before Thanksgiving and were told that no one would be manning the desk on Thanksgiving day which was fine. We showered on Thursday and only had lukewarm water in the shower and since was our first time staying there we were not sure if this was normal or not since this is an older place. No big deal, short shower and go on about our day. On Friday morning we had NO hot water at all. Ice cold, so no shower at all for us. Since the staff does not come in until 10AM and we were leaving early that morning we did not have the chance to report the water issue. On our way home, we did call just to let them know before someone else had checked into that room and had the same issues as we did. We were told that there was nothing that they could do or refund us any $ because it was OUR fault that we did not let them know before we checked out.....Well maybe if they had staff there before 10AM we would have done that. The lady that my husband spoke to was very dismissive and rude. She should not be in customer service. We will not be staying with the 1790 again due to the lack of empathy or customer service. Such a shame. Thumbs down for this...

Overall we had a great trip and enjoyed a long weekend here. Location was perfect and allowed us to walk to restaurants, shopping and several historic sights. Staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful. Chris checked us in and was a pleasure to interact with. However, the room (302) we booked is in need of better housekeeping and repairs. Scuffs on the walls, water damage and peeling/ cracked paint were plentiful. Stone tiles on the shower floor were loose around the drain and shifted under our feet. This allowed water to get underneath shower floor. The tile in the bathroom area was worn and dirty looking. We also found clumps of long blond hair both in the shower and tub. Definitely not our hair. Room was hard to keep comfortable and couldn't be set below 72°. Thankfully they have a tower fan in the room to help. We had family staying in other guest buildings who had much nicer and cleaner rooms, so it's possible they just haven't gotten around to maintainance/refurbishment for that building. Additionally, we found a "vintage film" in a draw in our sitting room. No idea how long it's been there but we left it be. We did let the desk know about the shower issue and general cleanliness. I would still highly recommend a stay at 1790 Inn but perhaps book a...

We stopped at the 1790 Inn while on a walking tour of Savannah. The simple sign hanging on the corner belies the warmth that awaits you inside. We liked the feel of the place so well that after the tour we returned to eat dinner here based on the recommendation of our tour guide, who lives in Savannah.

Everything was on point in this establishment. The service was well paced, attentive and thoughtful. The staff worked together seamlessly to insure a consistent experience for everyone. With a seat at the bar bearing the nameplate of a now deceased, longtime patron by the name of Edwin P Almond Jr, there was a definite Cheers vibe underpinning the relaxed, yet energetic atmosphere.

Best of all was the food! When I tell you this food was next level good, that does it a disservice. The only way for you to truly understand the culinary excellence their food delivers, is to experience it first hand.

I had the ribeye, which absolutely melted in my mouth. My wife had the boursin chicken which also tasted amazing.

We liked it so much we are extending our trip by a day so we can stay here for a night to have the full experience of their rooms and hospitality.

This is a well disguised Savannah gem that you...
