We stayed at the Staybridge Suites for our annual Girls' Trip. I had no idea what to expect having never been to Savannah before. I relied on google maps completely to judge location and reviews. We were very happy with this choice.|While the hotel itself does not seem bright and modern, it is far from tired and old. The only things really in need of a facelift would be the shower/toilet area... maybe a prettier palette or some decor? ||Some of the things worth noting here are that the beds were sooooo comfortable and they provide a ton of pillows, LABELLED firm and soft. The inside of the room was clean and had shutters for window coverings. You really can't make the room pitch black but I was fine with that.||Some of the things to know when staying here, however, is that we were facing the street / river. There is a lot of road noise at night. Not busy but LOUD. Lots of trucks because, after all, it is an active shipping area. And the ships go by, which is cool to watch. This comment would go for any hotel along Bay Street so it isn't necessarily a negative for Staybridge.||One important note is that our room was CRAMPED. Not necessarily tiny but there was a full kitchen (which was lovely and convenient) but with two double beds, it was hard for the three of us to maneuver around getting to the bathroom at night. One bed was about a foot away from the wall and really hard to get out of on that side. I absolutely regret picking that room. I would have gone with the 1 bedroom suite had I known. The rooms are all 306 sq feet but maybe the layout would be different. DEFINITELY a great room if you only have ONE bed. We did have the corner room so we had beautiful windows on two sides of the room.||The hotel staff working the kitchen / bar / breakfast area were absolutely wonderful. This hotel has a cocktail party (FREE WINE AND BEER AND SNACKS) every Mon Tues and Wed evenings. Conveniently we were there Mon Tues and Wed! LOL! It makes the stay all the more fun and it is nice meeting others from various parts of the country.||Any other comments I have are strictly situational to us but overall this was a MORE than satisfactory hotel. The rate was AMAZING and the location was perfect. That said, I would probably only re-book this hotel again if it was less than the Holiday Inn or Hampton Inns that are literally next door. All three hotels are in a very desirable area for walking. Oh, and it includes BREAKFAST DAILY! ...
Read moreAlthough this hotel is in a great location, and looks great on the surface, our room was a different story.
I know this is a historic hotel, but historic with dirt and bugs are not.
The room we had looked clean on the surface and had a cute kitchenette. (which we could not eat in due to the bugs)
However, there were stains on the carpet and it smelled.
There were roaches and other little bugs crawling around.
We're from the south, so one roach don't freak us out...but more than one and then other critters crawling on the walls and counter, not pleasant. We did request 2nd floor, which they didn't honor, (because if there is an occasional roach, they are usually fewer on the upper floors)
Unfortunately, we ended up staying in the room because we had been driving all day on our way back down to FL and were dead tired after being stuck in traffic all day. We just kept all our belongings on the kitchen chairs away from the walls and kept to the bed.
Now we did have a "dog" room as they say, but that shouldn't mean filth room. We couldn't even let our dog lay on the floor. They charge a hefty pet fee, more than most and this should be used to disinfect and clean the rooms, not just add onto ppl.
There was a "Free" breakfast, which was ok, kind of bland, not as good as other hotel brands breakfast.
Parking was nil on site, so had to park down the street in the parking garage..
Also this was by no means a "cheap" hotel, it was quite expensive for one off season night, so we would expect more from a supposed higher quality hotel.
We did inform the front desk of these issues and they stated they would address them. They didn't seem too concerned though.
Hopefully they address sooner rather than later so the next guest doesn't encounter the same experience.
Do not recommend stay here! At least not on first floor.
Too bad, because like I stated, it is a...
Read moreStayed at this hotel for 8 nights over New Years Eve, felt safe and well taken care of as a solo traveler. Customer service is wonderful. I was given a welcome card as a thank you. It was a handwritten personalized invite that is quite a lost art, to take the time to do, this electronic age and time. The suite with a King Bed City View was not as big enough as some of the other Staybridge hotels I’ve stayed at in other cities that are comparatively larger in square feet. But I wouldn’t change a thing considering the proximity of this place to every attraction or place to visit you have in mind. River Street is a few steps across, Broughton Street, a shoppers street is about a 2 min walk, the trolley stop is a few feet away and most tours pick you up right outside the door all because you’re in the heart of the historic district. You can visit all 22 green squares right from living here and learn so much history, under the Spanish moss draped tree lined streets. The top most 4th floor is quiet and this place is pet friendly. 2 elevators on either side provide a short wait time. The room windows have plantation shutters, that was quite fun for me to close each night. The bathtub could use an upgrade but again, it’s nonetheless good enough to use, no complaints. Breakfast has many options like cereal, turkey sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, assortment of fruits, yogurt, bread, bagels, and coffee/juices. Coffee is available 24/7. The gym is also accessible 24/7, with treadmills, step climber, stationary bike, smith machine weights, etc. Or you could head across the street to Emmet Park, clear your thoughts while reflecting on life by taking a nice run. Will stay...
