Bruno and Daphne had the privilege of getting thier very own private history tour of Savannah, GA today by none other than Eric (the owner of Oliver Bentleys Historic Savannah Dog Walking Tours) which combines the Hostess City’s three best features: it's beautiful scenery, it's rich history, and it's dog-friendly vibe.
Bruno & Daphne got to embark on a tour of tales (and tails) through Savannah's Historic District and learned all about the city’s amazing history. They explored seven of Savannah’s 22 iconic squares, beginning with Oglethorpe Square. These beautiful green spaces punctuate the downtown area with azaleas in all colors, live oaks dripping with Spanish moss, and centuries of fascinating history and charm. They got to sniff around some of the city’s most well-known historic landmarks. Eric made sure to point out the many dog-friendly establishments in Savannah.
As an added bonus, Daphne & Bruno each received a complimentary bag of Oliver Bentleys original recipe (Ollie B. Biscuits and Bites) after being such good pups.

We had an incredible time with Oliver Bentleys’ Historic Dog Walking Tour — even in the pouring rain! 🌧️ Our guide, Eric, went above and beyond to make the experience unforgettable. He lent us umbrellas and kept us dry while he braved the weather to continue the tour. Anyone else would’ve called it off, but he made it extra special.
The stories of Jasper and Newt, along with Oglethorpe and Tomochichi, were fascinating — and I loved learning about the rain gutters and their symbolism. The breakdown of the statues and what they represent gave such a meaningful layer to Savannah’s history.
We ended things a little early to escape the rain and grabbed some hot drinks on the way back to the shop — which was everything we hoped it would be! Our pup got to run around off leash inside the store (so fun!) while we browsed their treats and bandanas. We left with full hearts, happy tails, and a bag of Bentley’s treats.
We’ll definitely be back — rain...

We’re not usually the biggest walking tour kind of travellers, but we made an exception here as it was dog friendly which seemed like a novel idea.
In the end, we ended up being the only ones there (it was a Monday morning in November so guess we should have expected that). However, turns out the tour itself was great even without dogs (besides our dog, who didn’t seem to care thanks to all the squirrels in Savannah’s beautiful squares). It covered a lot of really interesting history of Savannah and Georgia without being dry or too much to follow. Eric has a great sense of humour and kept the tour lighthearted and fun. We appreciate the level of detail in answering our questions and explaining things, and for delivering such a good tour despite a small audience.
Without hesitation we will recommend this to any of our friends who visit Savannah, with or...
