The Seattle Symphony, led by Conductor Sarah Hicks, was a pury joy to witness during the Harry Potter Movie! If you haven't attended one of these types of performances, (orchestra playing the soundtrack of a movie), you absolutely must experience it. John Williams or a Tim Burton movie for sure!
The effects will blow you away! The timing needed by the conductor and the orchestra to partner with the movie is really something to behold. You will be so focused on the movie, that you'll actually forget there's a live orchestra performing right in front of you...until that sudden burst of applause and screaming from the audience when the movie gets so intense and the orchestra blasts out the sound...and then suddenly stops on a dime.
Then you'll know.
We loved the audience participation during the movie, and they really do appreciate their orchestra! You won't get that during a Hayden Symphony, for sure...
What a blast, and Conductor Sarah Hicks added so much value to the experience with her passion and pure joy leading the performance experience! I really appreciated her engaging the audience prior to the...
Read moreI love Benaroya Hall and the Seattle Symphony. We had to move out of the area so we haven't been season ticket holders in a while but that changed this season. Having set in different areas of the main venue we have decided that the acoustics are best down front even though you can't see all of the orchestra. This year we're sitting about seven rows back but we have said as many as 15 rows back and as long as you're in that area you can close your eyes and the music just swirls which is lovely.
The symphony isn't stuffy so if you want to dress up dress up and if you don't that's okay too. Just remember that people are looking over your head so probably best not to wear hat or at least one that doesn't add a lot of height. There's often a talk before a performance especially on Sundays so always check your ticket and if it's available they're usually really interesting. If you want to park at Benaroya Hall you have to pay for parking in advance and that includes handicap parking.
They often have a widely varied programs on offer throughout the season so check out what they have and support your...
Read moreMy husband and I have been on a musical date night, to The Beethoven's Symphony Orchestra chorus-9, 'Ode Of Joy' during the holiday season on our 5th anniversary. The show was held for about 70 - 75mins and our experience is just amazing. The entire musical is extremely dynamic, it has got all elements from being bold to melodious, from being furious to being so soothing and a fabulous ending with the chorus is like cherry on top of a cake. I noticed that they conduct special shows between Dec 28th - Dec 31st, where a wonderful chorus is added to the musicals which usually isn't the case. Most importantly, the theatre has amazing acoustic effect. This is one the best theatres I've ever been to with such amazing acoustics. This show is pure joy, whether, you a music lover or not, it doesn't really matter. I'm sure you'll fall in love watching the musicians play so mesmerizingly. And yes, a huge shout-out to THE CONDUCTOR of the show & ALL THE MUSICIANS.... YOU ARE ALL OUTSTANDING!!!!! It's...
