Having spent five days in Seattle, I was eager to break away from hotel breakfasts and indulge in something different yet light and warm. After a quick Google search, I stumbled upon Original Deli, despite initial reservations about its interior based on online images.
Upon entering, any doubts vanished as I was greeted by the owner, a cheerful Korean lady whose bright welcome set the tone for my visit. Her enthusiasm and warmth were infectious, making me feel instantly at home, especially as I discovered we shared a Korean heritage.
The positive reviews I had read suddenly made perfect sense. The husband and wife duo behind Original Deli were emblematic of the remarkable Korean hospitality I've encountered in my travels.
Opting for the breakfast burrito, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and diverse ingredients that filled the warm wrap. It was precisely the comforting yet unique meal I had hoped for, satisfying both my appetite and my craving for something different.
In conclusion, Original Deli surpassed my expectations, not just with its food but with the genuine warmth and hospitality of its owners. It's a hidden gem in Seattle that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a delightful...
Read moreWe discovered this delicious little cafeteria tucked away in a back alley of downtown Seattle while we were staying at a nearby hotel that did not have anything for breakfast. This little gem of a place is a bit out of the way unless you know how to get to it (we used the alley between 3rd and 4th). But the quality of the food and the reasonableness of the prices makes this a must do, if you're looking for breakfast or lunch. We chose the ham and egg breakfast sandwich which was sizable, hot and fresh. But the real winner was the breakfast bulgogi bowl with two eggs. It was so much food, we actually ended up splitting the bowl and didn't have the sandwich until later. An absolutely great way to start the morning. And as mentioned the prices were really good, for the breakfast sandwiches they were all under $10, some as low as $5. The bulgogi bowl was a bit more at $12, but easily fed two of us. Additionally, the shop owners were extremely nice. And you could tell there were regulars coming in to get their usual sandwiches and then head off to work. If you're in the area and you can find it, I absolutely recommend the...
Read moreThis is one of the greatest restaurants I've ever been to.
Bottom line, the food was great, and the service was excellent. One of the easiest five stars I've ever given.
To get to this location, you walk into an alley with only a janky-looking sign out front. In the side of the building, there is a LITERAL hole in the wall door that leads you into a clean looking small establishment where they are serving Asian food. Yes PLEASE. We ordered a bulgogi bowl combination and a teriyaki bowl. They both tasted like food my friends' Asian parents used to make. They tasted incredibly authentic, fairly high quality, with comfortable indoor seating. We even got some tasty crunchy sushi on the side. In downtown Seattle, this must cost a fortune, right? Well we were full for HOURS after eating, and the whole thing cost us twenty four bucks. $24. That is UNREAL. If I lived here, I might come here every day. The service was better than the food, and the food was great. I am blown away.
We would have come back every day if we weren't trying to sample different foods from different places. I am...
