What a disappointment! I booked this hotel based on my favorite hotel in Nashville, the Brentwood Four Points. Originally I made reservations at the Four Points at the Seattle Airport which offered a deal of 10% off, and 3,000 bonus points! But the "Downtown" location was closer to everything. It was more expensive, no discount and no bonus points, but I opted for convenience. The neighborhood is semi industrial, but has some newer housing going up. I would call it evolving. Not downtown, but a long walk to the Space Needle and museums. I had requested a Suite with Living Room and pull out couch. In Nashville, the suite consists of two regular large rooms with two baths, a bedroom and a room with a couch and fridge and microwave. More than adequate for 3 adults. This one consisted of two very small rooms with a small bath. The furniture was chipped. We had to request sheets and blankets for the couch.
We arrived about 11:30 fresh off an overnight train from Montana. My husband wanted a power nap. I had requested an early check in. We got there and desk staff explained that the room wasn't ready because SPG members typically took the suites and usually checked out late. We were tired. Went to eat lunch and came back. Room wasn't ready. They finally allowed us to check in at 3 p.m., the standard check in time. Moreover the attitude of the desk staff was more that we were being difficult by asking several times.
We were able to learn more about where to eat and how to get around from other guests than the front desk staff. Workers were working on the patio outside which someday will be lovely, but you could see some unsightly graffiti on the property next door. The carpets were worn and filthy. It was apparent that the building did not start out its life as a Four Points. More like a mid quality flag. The Complimentary Coffee Bar had a wonderful icy fruit filled water dispenser, but offered a supermarket branded powdered creamer for coffee rather than real half and half or even a carafe of milk. Coffee in Seattle with powdered creamer!!!! We did find half and half in the room when we finally checked in. The rooms were so cramped, there was no place to put luggage. There was one light with one low watt bulb in the "living room." The bed was comfy, but when I was straightening the covers in the morning, I noticed an unidentified brown smudge on the quilt between the duvet and sheet. Yuck! This is not acceptable to me, but again the desk staff's reaction was more like a deer in the headlights stare than genuine concern. They asked if I had informed housekeeping as if it was my fault. Unfortunately our stay at the Downtown Seattle Four Points has impacted my overall perception of the Four Points flag. For Sheraton prices we got mid level flag (or worse) quality. By the way, as an SPG member, we checked out around 9:00 a.m. I hope the room was available early for another guest and that the bed covers have been washed. If we ever go back to Seattle, we will not stay there. I also suggest that management and desk staff go to Brentwood, TN to see how a Four Points Hotel can exceed a customer's...
Read moreAfter spending two nights of my three night work trip in a shabby room, I was told I would need to move floors before the final night in my stay "due to renovations." Because I was visiting Seattle on business, the window of time that I had to move rooms was very small - one hour in the morning before I had to report to the office for training. I asked to move rooms the prior evening only to be told that the hotel was fully booked. I asked to be granted an exception to stay in my original room, shabby though it was, in light of the inconvenience. I was told the renovations needed to begin immediately, as they were already behind schedule (something that is not actually my problem). I was forced to move rooms, but was told I would be given a newly renovated room with an upgrade. My new room was not ready when I had to leave the next morning, so I left my things with the front desk.
Upon my return that evening, the desk attendant gave me my key and told me my things would be in my room. They were not. My room also was not upgraded. The hotel took 45 minutes to get me my things, which had clearly been misplaced in the hotel, as the front desk called me once to obtain a description of my things, and a second time for the ticket number from my luggage tag. After finally receiving my luggage, I noticed something was missing. Thinking I left it in my previous room during the hurried packing I'd been forced to do the night before, I went to the front desk to see if I could step into the previous room to look for the lost object. After asking, the desk attendant said, "I think we can do that - no one has checked in that room." Well, surely no one has - I was asked to leave in light of construction, was I not?
As you can imagine, I was pretty unhappy with this news. The staff had no explanation they could offer. My previous room was empty. My things had been moved around the hotel several times - left in another hotel guest's room, as I later found out. I was hugely inconvenienced during work travel and was offered nothing in return from this hotel. In fact, after asking to receive a shaving kit (a commodity that is supposed to be included, but which was "on back order" at the Four Points), the hotel staff even had the audacity to suggest that I go and retrieve one myself from the QFC that they would later reimburse me for.
The level of service not available to guests at this hotel is so infuriating it is laughable. Do NOT stay here - there are a myriad of other options in the Seattle area, and you'd probably get better customer service at a Motel 6. You'd certainly get to stay in the room that you originally reserved for all three nights, at...
Read moreI stayed in a large suite here. It had a nice bathroom with soap and shampoo dispensers in the full-size bathtub/shower. There was a small closet with a standard hotel safe. The living room had a couch, a very large desk/counter that had updated Ethernet wiring and power outlets for a laptop computer, and a big-screen TV. There was a kitchenette in the living room that had a small refrigerator (hidden inside a cabinet for looks), a countertop, and a small sink. I think there was a microwave, but don't recall.
The bedroom was divided from the rest of the suite with a door, and had its own second big-screen TV. The bed was large and comfortable, and the plush comforter was cozy. There are separate thermostats for the living room and bedroom, though the one in the bedroom wasn't working, so I had to control the temperature directly on the air conditioner/heater unit. There was a view of the Space Needle from the bedroom and living room windows, though you can only see the top part of it beyond obstructing buildings.
The suite was clean, well-renovated, and quiet. You wouldn't want to leave the windows open though, due to the very busy street below. The traffic noise was imperceptible with the windows closed.
The biggest draw of this place is its proximity to the Seattle Center, with its Space Needle and Experience Music Project / Science Fiction Hall of Fame museum (my all-time favorite museum, anywhere). It's an easy walk there down safe streets (even at at nighttime), just a few blocks away. If you want to park your car at the hotel's basement parking garage, it was something like $15 per night. It would have been nice if parking was included, but for the security and convenience of the garage, I was willing to pay the fee.
There's a restaurant on the lobby floor that serves a good breakfast. The time it took to prepare my breakfast was rather long the first day I was there, due to the crowd there at that hour, but the second day was much shorter. If you don't want to eat in the hotel, there are many nearby restaurants.
I'd definitely...
